Ban List - Wipe

I'm not sure about a 100% 'ban list wipe', but I'd certainly support allowing those who've been perma-banned for an extended period at least the chance to appeal, not much harm in that, right?

If we wipe the ban list we should wipe it from a certain point, not completely. We still have people who recently have done things and are banned for it. On the other hand we have people who are permanently banned who feel they shouldn't even bother with writing an appeal as they don't think they will ever get a second chance.

There are plenty of players you think are truly new to LoTC but are actually a banned player trying to redeem themselves and have fun again with a different account and new ip or proxy. I think this COULD be a really good start to fix the toxicity of the community, but at the same time could just allow people that really dislike LoTC another chance to ruin it. Gotta take the good with the bad, don't let one rotten apple ruin the bunch da?

Personally I think pugsying is like easiest way to get banned, and all it really does is ruin someone's roleplay experience for 2 secs because they die. And so many people pugsy because of peer pressure and spontaneous acts. If you're so easily banned permanently by something so small such as pugsying, then I'm all up for ban wipe

If you managed to do things to the point of getting yourself perma-banned I don't think you truly care enough for the community to be allowed to participate in it again. There are already enough second and third (and 4th and 5th) chances given to players on this server that allowing those who were perma-banned back would simply diminish any and all consequences for their actions.

Thing is, there are some cases which are... unpleasant. People we don't want back no matter what. While I'm all for giving second chances... giving them to some folks wouldn't work, it would just make the situation worse.

I figure that if someone was banned for such an extensive length of time, they probably did something worthy of it. Unbanning all those people gives precedent to say 'But this person was unbanned, so why can't this other person do it once and get unbanned?' Doesn't matter the situation, you know people will do it.

In my mind, if people are banned for good reason, they should stay that way.

If want to be unbanned and you can't be bothered to make an appeal then you really don't care about being apart of the community.

If you appeal and are rejected it is because you were a negative attachment to the community and the staff has opted out of your drama.

I understand that people might want their friends back but the fact is most of those banned people negatively affected the whole of the community, opting to make fun for themselves at the expense of others. Those aren't the type of people I would like to promote playing LOTC. So if those who are banned want to show that they have "matured" and are ready to play nice they should do the responsible thing and make an appeal.

I'm sure if people are banned for doing something as extreme as such, that you'll remember their names and just readd it to that ban list if it was that severe.

Appealing isn't the point,

a lot of players move on from LotC once they're banned and find themselves no longer talking to the people they once knew and would rather not have to appeal then meet a new group of people, they'd probably just appeal then go inactive if accepted. (It's hard to join back into communities when there's no longer any old friends there waiting for you) However with the news of all your friends being unbanned I'm sure they'd get back in contact and start up whatever they were doing before the ban happened. I know my an old friend of mine feels this way.

I support this. While some people do deserve to be banned, others have served long enough time. Let's go into 4.0 with a clean slate.. if you want to be a dimwit and break rules again..its on you

I'm afraid I can't agree.
