~Bah-haar! We're 'ome!~

CLAN HISTORY:

It began with the stag. Culloch was wandering through northern woods as he spotted a glorious, almost golden-antlered stag. With bravery and patience, he lunged at the beast from the trees, and took its antlers as to mount them on his wall. Out of sheer boredom, the filthy clanless named Culloch abandoned Adunia in the First Ildonian Age and attempted to bring up a history of his own. He took 9 others with him to highlands hidden from Man, and it was there that a collection of hay and dung-strewn huts appeared. For the first generation the small community lived in relative peace, save for some small attacks by venturing raiders and whatnot.

His eldest child, Daeglan, decided to make a clan as to venerate his father's accomplishments throughout life. As thus, he bestowed the name MacCulloch upon the residents of the village. Years continued to go by as the people hunted, gathered, and drank. MacCullochs cared not for the petty politics around them However, dark times were falling upon the small society in Asulon.

As Daeglan passed, the second eldest came into chieftainship. Daeglan II, otherwise known as Daeglan the Mongerer. Essentially, all Daeglan the Mongerer did was raid small communities similar to that of his own. As a result, he was chief for a short 5 years.

And thus, we come to the third eldest born of Culloch, Daeglan III. He is also known as The Stagling, and the Daeglan the Last. There was a time that Daeglan was a great soldier, though those days are done, he prefers peaceful politics now. However, it is odd that a MacCulloch would take to such a thing. Daeglan III decided to rejoin Adunia about ten years prior to now, and continues to aid the Realm as their High Steward. However, the numbers of Culloch's descendents have dwindled, and are nowhere near what they used to be. If The Stagling is to ever die, Morough MacCulloch would take his place as Chieftain. The rest of the history is to be made in The Fringe.

((This is of course a very condensed and cut-down version from the original lore. However, this forum topic is moreover to recruit more RPers into the clan anyways.))

CLAN COLORS (TARTAN):

Olive
&
Gold

BELIEFS:

MacCullochs generally believe in the True Faith rather than the Old Faith of the North. They believe that the Old Faith is heretical and thus the Creator smites the Adunian people for worshipping false Gods. Every MacCulloch is expected to be baptized in the Church at some point in their lives.

RITE OF MANHOOD:

A MacCulloch lad isn't necessarily considered a man once he comes of age at 17. His worth must be proved through a brutal hunt. Taken by an Elder and escorted to the woods, a youthful MacCulloch must remove the antlers from a fully-grown stag. There is no reasoning behind this, other than for a lad to prove his speed, patience, and tenacity. It is safe to assume that his tradition originates from Daeglan the Mongerer's bloodlust.

MACCULLOCH SYSTEM:

The system to this Adunian clan is a bit more unique than that of the others. Typically, clans are headed by either a Chief or an Elder. However in the MacCulloch family, they're headed by a Chief who is aided by Elders. Becoming an Elder can be achieved once the MacCulloch has reached the age of 70, and of course to be Chief one must be the very oldest living member of the clan.

APPEARANCE:

Most MacCullochs are brown or red of hair. They tend to be thick of skin and facial hair. However, the women of the MacCullochs are typically far more observant, fast, and even powerful than their men. This is because MacCulloch women are raised to be hunters and gatherers for the clan, not leaders and blacksmiths. Don't take this as the men being weak, all MacCullochs are born to defend walls. It just seems that the women are in this case, physically dominant towards the men.

HEIRLOOMS:

  • Daeglan's Flamberge.
  • Gwyn's Skull.
  • Daeglan's Spoon.

CLAN SAYINGS:

The MacCullochs love witty and immature sayings as a highlander clan:

  • "Ah ne'er forgot ah 'Dunian faece, but fer ye Ah be glad tae maeke th' 'ception!"
  • "Mae Gwyn's phat arse squeeze yer lil 'ead off!"
  • "Ye be th' seed, breed, an' spawn o' a Elv'n panseh!"
  • "We taekes nae dishonah."
  • "I 'ope yeh git plough'd by th' sharp end o' a stag's antlahs!"

((I encourage that you apply to be a MacCulloch! It is a great time, as Adunia is really taking off again. However, if you /are/ going to become one, please don't be a one-time guy! We need you to be relatively active! Also, if you've trouble with naming your MacCulloch, use a Gaelige type name. Here are some examples to follow: Lughaidh (Pronounced Loo-ee), Ailbe (Pronounced Albee), Cadhla, (Pronounced Kad-la), Risteard, (Pronounced Rees-tard), Fachtna (Pronounced Fak-na), and so forth. :D))
