Gm And Et Event Griefing

If they didn't use those scripted areas, the event would have ended last night, because the entire server would just plow through the red realm

Well they didn't have to spawn mobs at our forts too, killing everyone there. They could have spawned tons of mobs infront of the players to halt the expansion and drive us back, instead of spawning mobs on top of us and at the keeps.

Alrighty, let me say my opinion through personal experience.

Scripting is not, per se, simply writing up a script for an event. Scripting is making sure you know how people will react to an event, and planning accordingly. We all want the same end result, and we'll reach it in time. However, plowing through everything before it is ready is not the best idea!

Do you guys remember the spire event?  (Oh lordy, the storm of crud that came from that was massive. For those who don't remember: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/107137-we-cant-help-those-who-dont-want-to-be-helped/). There was nothing more than a basic idea, and it led to... well... disaster.

Planning is essential. Time is essential. We just need to be kind, courteous, and take it slow and enjoy ourselves. Be nice to people!

Crayfish out.

Also, didn't we already talk about this?

So in your opinion, the event would be better without encountering any challenges, dark leuteniants, or defeating Setherin and instead simply wandering around an empty build and plowing the roundabouts 5 harbingers who were there defending?

@James, when we identified that people were getting mobs spawned on top of them there was a very quick correction. Nobody should find themselves suddenly surrounded by anything other than harbinger withers.

Not at all what I'm saying! I'm saying that it wouldn't be fun without those challenges because it would be over too quickly.

I told them to do it. It was my instructions. Dont place the blame on my staff or the GM team, I bear responsibility for your unfortunate circumstances.

I purposely told my staff that if players advance onto the citadel, they are in charge of turning them back with heavy amounts of mobs. The citadel plays a major part in tomorrow's battle, thats why you should not be able to access it. You will find nothing there, as preparations are not complete.

I could have just made a region, and made it so you wouldn't be able to enter at all. But I choose this method as it sounded more interesting and dangerous. I'm sorry you dont share the same view on it. You can blame me, but my staff do not deserve harsh words because of my actions.

@James2k. The problem with mob spawning is you arent sure what direction they will spawn in. Sometimes in front, behind, somewhere to the left or right. So accidents spawning on top of you happens. My staff also miscalculate the strength of mobs sometimes, resulting in a overload of mobs in one area.

If we didn't force you guys back you'd be finished with the event in 2 minutes due to the type of landscape that we're in, then you'd whine about that too. Apologies from us for attempting to give a little longevity.

I think you mean railroaded, not scripted. Although based on what I've read in this thread it was neither, it was area denial.

Moved to the Great Library. It shall be sorted into appropriate category shortly.
