Gm And Et Event Griefing

 Share

Recommended Posts

During events, such as the current event that is ongoing as I type this, it seems that Event Team members and Moderators use unnecessary amount of force to progress the seemingly Scripted-event they way they want it to go.

From my experiences on the server, these events are not allowed to progress as they would from actual player-made decisions and content, but by the GMs who, as seen a moment ago, use their own ways to get what they wish to happen to happen.

My question is, why do events, seeming to be scripted due to "Event griefing", even happen if the player base is not allowed to make advances in it.

EDIT: The battle before two dragons, seemingly godded, spamming lightning and spawning prophets arrived.

If you're concerned about the number of mobs spawned, you shouldn't be as your signature says you're never outgunned.

GMs want some event to go a certain way, idk its their event not mine i'm not going to complain about it, let them run it as they want.  I don't understand what even griefing is.

Its not the mobs that bother me. Its the fact that the event staff seems necessary to have two lightning spamming dragons who try to insta-kill anyone past a certain point they wish us to be.

Also, I'd appreciate if you didn't try to be smart with your comment about my signature.

All Events are scripted, accept the improvised random events that are either requested by players or that ETs choose to conduct. This forceful 'pushing' is to get everynone to 4.0 in the amount of time given. Unless you do not want to progress to 4.0, these scripted events are necessary.

And these events work like this, take it from a former ET:

Start of Event (planned)---->Event (improvised/planned)------>End result (planned and intended to happen whether you like it or not).

In my knowledge, people dont mind this too much. Everyone loved the Dwarven Antag, but it was very scripted, and the script made it work so well.

The two lightning spamming dragons by the way, they have a purpose; they make the event very hard to get through. Setherien is not a player. Setherien is half god. A human cant kill a demigod, neither can one million of them because Demigods are immortal. Wait until the end of the fringe. Then you'll see how we /win/.

I understand the staff wishes to use the event for this purpose, but it seems as if they wish to restrict us TOO much.

It would be much easier to make a trailer for the upcoming of the next server, than to put us into situations where we have no influence on what goes on.

If events weren't at least scripted a little bit people would be done the red realm by now because players like sneaking around and finding stuff when most ET and GM's are asleep. They are not scripted, they are just guidelines we have, but when players take and entire field when there is no one on to appose them, then we have a problem (thus pushing people out)

Scripted events are crap. Period.

All events are scripted in one way or another friend, otherwise they wouldn't be events.

Would you rather the races walked up to a portal after killing some mobs all day and found 4.0 that way? Or would you rather they actually do something story oriented?

False, mate. You've got a pretty close-minded concept of "Event".

Not all events have a scripted outcome. These recent GM ones all do. Some can hardly be called events, like when they spawned 1000s of mobs because we went too far into the Scourge lands.

What you have to understand is that there are a ton of things planned for those areas that are "past the kill line" as we like to say, that are meant to be used either today or Sunday for a string of events. What you are witnessing are not events, they are a roleplay method of keeping you from those areas until we are prepared to offer you the best experience possible exploring them. Would you rather find the area empty and deserted, say "nice build" and walk away, or would you rather arrive to a neat boss battle and storyline involving that particular area? Bear in mind that we've been given an incredibly short window of time to create this ending for the players. We were basically told "You have one week to do this."

Given that we need time to execute the phases of the ending, let's also bear in mind that this land is the heart of Setherin's might. His home turf. You have to expect some sort of challenge.

To clarify, you are not being left out because of a "script," you are being left out so that we have time for planning, organization, and execution to make sure each area explored is an adventure rather than the result of mild curiosity.

The way I see it, you could look at this from two angles. "Oh man this is so lame we can't kill all these mobs." The Out of Character approach to an issue or conflict, or you could play it as it is, a very tough struggle that could spawn stories, songs, poems, and good camp roleplay as you battle of the hordes, we are trying very hard to keep base camps out of the line of fire.

If they didn't use those scripted areas, the event would have ended last night, because the entire server would just plow through the red realm
