Raptorious 1899 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Now, does the media team work hard for the LOTC playerbase? Of course. Nobody is saying otherwise. We just believe that the media team would be much better off working on trailers, event footage, RP stories, etc instead of relaying events we already know about. The player-base's quarrel is not with the Media Team's skill or ability to do their job, it's with what they choose to use that ability for. Calm constructive criticism has been made about members of the media team's ability before and they have calmly learnt from their mistakes and improved greatly. These ****-storms, though, happen when what we ask to happen, doesn't happen, something rather irrelevant gets made instead and we get told we're not happy with anything you do.
Jachnun 566 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Media team members in my opinion are very hard working and dedicated, and it is shown, its just their working on the wrong sort of agenda. Sorry if I seemed like an ignorant hick in terms of my critique on the news pilot thread, but with all seriousness they are very hard working. Its just I am fairly confident they are not putting their effort into the right sort of content. Something that is appealing and satisfying for the current player base as well as future applicants. I previously suggested a new agenda, whereas some media team members told me it causes distaste to the administration, so for now I don't have a new agenda to suggest to the team, but you definitely should have a more cinematic and graphically appealing content. xDK 1205 Share Posted May 6, 2014 The media team is one of the most hardworking teams there is, but yet it does not matter how hard you work, if you can't show it to people. My advise would be to slow down. Find a tempo where you can create content on a regular basis. Even though you won't make a video every week, you'll still be showing more activity than you do now. *crawls back to the shadows, from which he came.*
Tentoa 3161 Share Posted May 6, 2014 You guys really need to stop with the updates, we aren't big enough for anyone outside the server to care. Start doing trailers and minecraft forum advertisements, as well as working more on planet minecraft. It'll be better if we appeal to new players rather than making content that even current players really can just check the forums to see.
RK9ify 86 Share Posted May 7, 2014 The MT's job isn't easy. Recording, editing, and all that stuff takes ages! Also, constantly being told that they don't do a good job is really de-moralizing. Cut them some slack! Members of the MT, do what /you/ want to do the way /you/ want do to it. Ignore the haters, and just keep doing your thing. Your main objective should be to have fun!
Dromui 755 Share Posted May 7, 2014 To be honest, I have no idea what they do... I kinda just see them flying about at random, taking pictures though, I think.
Dyrr 137 Share Posted May 8, 2014 To be honest, I have no idea what they do... I kinda just see them flying about at random, taking pictures though, I think. I agree with you, but just because I don't see them working doesn't mean they aren't. I'm sure they're all hard at work (I hope), but I think they should really focus their attention on animations, trailers and the such, but a few things on the side like photo showcases and other small projects like that are perfectly fine and I enjoy viewing them. _pok_ 1768 Share Posted May 8, 2014 is this really needed? i think we all know how most of us feel about the MT.
Major Dom 1297 Share Posted May 8, 2014 less cringey news and stuff MT should be primarily focused with making trailers, video taping battles, and doing pictures and stuff to rake in new players
Campor 28 Share Posted May 8, 2014 I think trailers and epic action shots are what you should focus on. We're not big enough to warrant news updates. Anything big gets covered by an Admin or GM announcement and everything else trickles down through the forums/skype. Let's Plays like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oP4pi07Awo and embellishing trailers get people to play, not new segments. The trailers and Let's Plays on Youtube are what actually drew me here in the first place. You don't need to be super popular on Youtube in order to draw that attention- Anyone who looks for Minecraft RP on Youtube will find LotC videos. Then they'll look into it more and find the trailers you guys put out. All we need is more modern versions, and more videos that are attractive to new players in general. Hobolympic 1093 Share Posted May 9, 2014 I think the only thing you lot should be focusing on at the moment, in filming events and taking pictures. No random news thingie every single week, just simply focus on filming major events, make some cool edits and post 'em. However, I'd also like to say that I'm not really impressed with the quality of video edits and clips I've seen. The trailers are below average, event videos are laggy, and filmed from terrible angles, which decreases the quality of said videos tremendously, and simply leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. All this is of course just my opinion, but I feel you should only focus on filming events for now, only pick /good/ footage, and make sure the edits fit well with the theme song in the back etc. And /please/ use good resource packs and/or shaders, they help a lot (and make sure you don't combine different footage with different texture packs together, because that just looks terrible.) As for trailers, being invaluable in terms of pulling in new players, and is why it should be left to the pros (no offense btw). Pay a good film editor/animator to make some crazy epic stuff like the old Aegis trailers, and then pay popular youtubers to do let's plays and/or showcase the trailer. This type of promotion is something I've suggested for quite a while, and also a reason why I've stopped donating, because I suspect most of the money slides into someone's pocket, instead of stuff like this.
