On July 1, 1867, Canada was created when several British territories joined together to create a new nation. Ever since then we've claimed July 1 as a day for not having to work, drinking copious amounts of beer and watching fireworks. Here are some fun facts about Canada. 1. Canada has the longest coastline of any country. 2. Famous Canadians include Jim Carrey, Alex Trebek, Nathan Fillion, Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Michael Cena, Ellen Page, Ryan Gosling, Cobie Smulders and Wolverine. 3. Canada is the second largest country by area, after Russia. 4. Hockey and lacrosse are the official sports. 5. Approximately 75% of Canadians live within 100 miles of the US border. 6. There are ten provinces and three territories. 7. Toronto is the largest city, but not the capital. 8. The official languages are English and French. 9. Santa Claus has his own postal code. 10.
