A Message To All Nations

Recommended Posts

A missive written in neat, careful handwriting is sent out from to all nation leaders by a variety of birds. The missive reads:

Leaders of the Descendent Races,

A severe drought has struck the Fringe. The effect such heat and lack of water will have on crops is devastating. Some nations may already feel the effects. The Druidic Order wishes to help mitigate the effects of this drought as best it can. To the nations who have protected us in recent days, we thank you and may already be lending our aid by the time you receive this. To the nations who currently hunt us, either through their own foolishness or because of a treaty, we ask that you agree to and sign the attached document before we lend our aid. This deal will remain open, even if you do not sign immediately. Finally, to all other nations not involved on either side of the conflict, The Druidic Order will, of course, offer it's aid.

Thank you,

Apple Druid Leyun Kameki

Archdruid of the Druidic Order

The attached document, sent to Haelun'or and Oren reads:

Because of the drought that threatens our crops and health, ________________ agrees to the following terms.

-An immediate end to all hostilities directed at The Druidic Order.

-The Druidic Order is as it's always been, an apolitical organization, dedicated to the service of nature no matter what political borders exist. We heal lands, animals, and people. The signing nation will recognize this basic truth.

-To prevent future disagreements, The Druidic Order will agree to not grow trees whose branches reach closer than 20 meters from the walls of cities to avoid compromising the security of those cities. Grasses and Wild flowers are exempt from this distance restriction.

-Disagreements with the Druidic Order will be brought to the Inner Circle of the Druidic Order so that such issues may be resolved in a reasonable manner. The Inner Circle is composed of the Druid Guides and Archdruids.

-While land may or may not be given for a grove on the whim of a nation, that nation may not attempt to legislate control over The Druidic Order if it has been allowed to reside within the borders of the nation.

-The Druidic Order is allowed safe passage to tend to nature and heal the injured.

Sorensil taps her staff against the wall of her cavern, nodding in agreement as she surveys the letter. "Haelun'or may be a racist, egotistical government, but at least when their people are starving, they shall be starving and frowning upon the decisions of their prideful Sohaer."

The letter never makes it beyond the hands of the palace guards and is disposed of. Minor notification is handed over to the prince, as the Emperor outright denies most letters as insignificant.

Oren sends no response.

A message returns:

You will notice, druian, that this is no ordinary drought. It is far more specific in the land it targets, of that land our fields are not of them. Your threat is meaningless if we still have crops, is it not?

A message is sent back to Haelun'or:

The offer will remain open while the drought runs it's course.
