If this new temp map will be anything like Kalos was, I'm super excited. Also, an opportunity to stress test the new plugins so we don't get to 4.0 and find some major, glaring issue that everyone gets pissed about? Sounds great to me. Not sure what's with all the naysayers, I suspect some people are just upset for the sake of being upset. My advice to all of you is to try to look for the positives here and accept the fact that if you try to have fun and think positively, you probably will. That's what I've been doing lately, and it's worked out very well so far.

Here's a good idea, forget taking the time develop ANOTHER temp map and just finish 4.0 so you don't  have to keep delaying it by a month!1!!!1!11!1 Idk about you guys, but to me that just seems like common sense, unless there's a REALLY good reason that I missed out on.

My guess is they'll just MC generate a map, build a spawn area and leave us to it, which shouldn't really take much time.

Wait this seems like a good idea in theory but its going to be terrible in execution. How will different factions get land? Do the massive empires just get to grab up all the land and lay about with their gigantic armies, or is there some way that land will be claimed?

The same way it happened when we first entered The Fringe most likely, first come first serve. Sadly, that means if you have land someone else wants, you're probably going to have to fight for it.

 

Also, i'd imagine this temp-map will have a set boundary, yes?

Honestly guys, relax. A lot of you have expressed the concern that this will slow 4.0, and don't worry, we are going to put minimal effort into setting up the map but just enough that it works as a decent map. But really, everyone has been saying that RP in the fringe has become stagnant, and the most important part of this server is not the maps, but that people are having fun. If you are "waiting for 4.0" that is completely your choice, but a lot of people don't want to have to wait for 4.0. Our job as moderators is to make sure that you are enjoying yourself every time you come onto the server, whether 4.0 is coming or not. If the Fringe isn't gonna cut it, we need to change something instead of just doing what we've been doing. This means quickly fixing up something interesting for you to enjoy, then continuing the work.

This is legitimately stupid.

 

All of this map crap would've been avoided if we just stayed on Anthos until 4.0 was ready.

 

And now we're going to yet another map that will be total crap and covered in shitty player made houses.

Anthos was dead, new players were confused where to go because the fringe access point was in such a strange spot. The same thing would have happened, both maps are dead. We were in Anthos for a year and in the fringe for 2-3 monthsish? they served their time and either way we would have ended up in the same position, It would not have been avoided at all. This temp map will last a month at most, we're not gonna be there forever and it's a good move considering we're in the crap heap that is the current fringe. With a fresh temp map and new plugins more people will get on and get back into some fun roleplay. I don't see how this is a stupid move at all. People are done with the Fringe and Anthos, there is outcry for 4.0 but it's not done yet, what else would you suggest? Sit in the stagnant, shell that is the Fringe?

The role play reason behind the emergence of this new land should totally be that Buubztik, as hero-god of mortal-kind, parted the seas and rose the land to create 3.5.5. Any other reasoning is inferior.

A fresh temp map that will get old within 2 weeks, and no one even knows when 4.0 is coming, or if it's going to be delayed. This is the same crap they pulled with the four temp maps before we had Anthos. "Oh new map is nearly done." That's the same **** that's been said every month. It's come to the point where I can't even trust your words at this point.

I'm not just upset because of this map, but because of the same mistakes repeated. We sifted through four months between several temp maps that stagnated quickly. They promised that 3.0 would be a small map, but Anthos turned into a complete repeat of everything that was wrong with Asulon. At this point, I am unsure about 4.0. If 4.0 becomes a repeat of mistakes, I'm gone.

As for the Fringe. It was their own fault for releasing the Fringe long before 4.0 was done.
