Make tnt only usable in wars/staff-overwatched raids/for fun. Using tnt to blast into buildings at will is bad.

I myself wouldn't mind TNT being added back in, it can generate a fair bit of unique RP for everyone. Though a few things I would suggest.

  • Limit the range TNT can explode
  • Make it VERY expensive to make and the materials very hard to find
  • Make TNT only usable in Seiges/Naval Battles/and or Sabotage situational RP (Sabotage RP is Player 1 asks Player 2 OOCly if they can sabotage something in Player 2's base or whatever, you have to have OOC consent and its fine)

Just a clarification there.

+1 Aslong as it has large restrictions.

We had it in Aegis. It was all fine because we didn't have so many people looking for ways to "win".

LOTC is the premiere OOC tactical warfare political simulator.  Not me claiming innocence, but hey, until we all have a sit down, staff included, just the way it'll be.  Sad but true.

So long as it's regulated to be used feasibly (not hauled around at will and blowing holes in walls out of nowhere, insinuating no guards would show up or spot you beforehand or something) then hell yeah, let's do this.

**** no, TNT is retarded and wouldn't add anything. I support adding cannons (but make them pricy to make and requiring some high level skill), but no TNT.

In the Lord of The PvP TNT would just add more landscarring..

I also support the reintroduction of PvP and canons in some sort of manner. To be honest I see no fault in them and I think they were a cool little piece of RP that added to the fun. It also gave ship to ship combat a purpose and we can maybe do some naval combat again like in Asulon. It really isn't all that bad considering at the moment GMs work siege weapons all the same with little regard for how they actually work anyway.

I'm against GM siege weapons in all forms. They're either as accurate as Fox News or the ultimate homing heat seeking ICBM of Doom. They need the level field only a plugin siege weapon can provide.

Love the idea of some actual siege warfare going on however I can definitely see a raiding party blowing holes through the walls of my town at two in the morning when none of the citizens are online. If tnt is reintroduced then it should only be available for use in sieges otherwise people will just start building underground obsidian vaults

Don't limit it to siege warfare, what about say Cmack's tinker halfling and my tinker halfling? How will we blow stuff up if we aren't doing a siege?

I support the revival of cannons in the form of naval equipment and very primitive siege equipment. Bombards should be the only cannon capable of being constructed on land, making it only available for a prolonged siege event and not used as a "roll up to the walls blow a hole and rush in."

Continuing with what Pok said and what Lago refuted, GM Siege engines are oftentime not as bias as you would think, because the system of /roll that the siege engineers conduct determines their hit or not. It's not so much the GM doing firing it, but the GM who is doing the damage itself (Since we can't fly up and just smash blocks in creative). It was used most recently in the battle of Mount Augustus and served particularly well, with both sides raising little complaint (other examples are the 2.5 Elysium temp map with an Orenian siege of an Orc-Dwarf(?) Fort and the Siege of the Dreadfort. Both battles again raised little complaints from both attackers and defenders, and I was personally involved in these two).

Addendum: Allow TNT to be made, but not placed, and instead use it as ammunition for cannon. It gives the Tinkerers a use and puts a value in their profession, forcing armies to either recruit a Tinkerer or buy the ammunition from one (The TNT would then be placed in a chest next to the cannon, and when each shot is fired, a GM would remove a TNT, acting as a discharged round). This allows an additional logistical aspect to the potential siege, and puts an economic value on warfare, making them decide how much they want to spend on purchasing this ammo, and whether or not it will be worth it.

In Asulon, my halfling tinker was notorious for being a crazed pyrotechnic and tried to use TNT to solve everything - felling trees, digging, whatever. [see my sig...] That RP was some of the best I've had on the server, and I haven't been able to get remotely close to it ever since TNT was disabled in 2.5-3.0. 4.0 is the perfect time to re-implement it, the simple lore reason being that gunpowder is available on the new land.

I would make it expensive to craft and have all TNT damage repair itself overtime.

I EXTREMELY AGREE. What if the halflings want to tinker? Or Boomkins? I mean there is a book called Boomkins 101! I think TnT/gunpowder is a major RP factor. naval combat, silly tricks, siege warfare, and fireworks! I think if people grief ban them. If people made an app for this server though and it took them a very long time I am HIGHLY doubtful they would be STUPID enough to grief.

If you have a high enough rank in the Mining Profession, then you should be able to craft some imho.

(For dwarves mainly), TNT for the purposes of mining would be ok with me.
