Questions About Elves

Monk of Silence

I want to apply as an elf, but have a few questions.

The first is what are snow elves exactly? On the wiki, they are put separate from the other types of elves and listed as a culture. Does that mean I can be a high elf and a snow elf, or only one?

Also, would it be weird for a high elf to want to be a monk? I want to be a high elf, but I've roleplayed as a monk on some forum roleplays and that was fun too.

Snow Elves are a culture that were the occurrence of High Elves, it's accepted that they were a sort of genetic defect in their genes. Though I heard rp'ly that it was from an event where a group of High Elves were frozen in a special location and came out of it years later as snow elves. You can only be one or the other I believe, and for Elves to learn magic isn't anything new, though it depends on what you mean as a Monk.

Snow Elves are the elves that are not yet approved by lore, but VERY close to it. Snow Elves were originally high elves but they fell in a cave of thanhium which transformed them into snow elves. You can be a half breed, but I would not reccomend it. So just go high elf or snow elf (I recommend snow elf, there very different rp styles, so I reccomend you watch the high elves and snow elf in chat as a wandering soul). High elves can be a monk, but then they are considered impure and will be purged by the other high elves...

Sources (To make fun of wiki): I am a snelf (Snow Elf)

Snow elves are an offshoot of high elves who got isolated in a snowy tundra for hundreds of years and apparently turned blue and got cold skin. They aren't a subrace in and of themselves.

And it's up to you whatever you want your character to be and no one is stopping you from doing anything OOCly, but be aware of the consequences as high elves have a lot of customs and expectations which may get you labeled as 'impure' if you unknowingly go against them.

Bascially, Snow elves wanted to be special snow snowflakes, and didn't want to go mainstream so they invented their own ****. Go with High Elves or Wood elves, it's safer.

The Snow Elves, as far as I know, are actually Elves corrupted over time. Whether this is due to the Aengul Wyvrun that they worship or through the substance Thahnium i'm not entirely sure. They aren't technically their own race so they're designated as a culture. However, yes, you can only be a Snow Elf, but snow elves do share a lot of resemblances with High Elves.

Also, would it be weird for a high elf to want to be a monk? I want to be a high elf, but I've roleplayed as a monk on some forum roleplays and that was fun too.

Yes, that is slightly weird, but entirely possible. Monk magic isn't shunned by High-Elves since it's the only thing stopping them from going extinct like all other races, so you should be fine doing it but don't expect them to treat you highly for it (after all, you are worshiping a deity).

Hope that answers your questions!

Basically, Teutons wanted to be special snowflakes, and didn't want to go mainstream so they invented their own stuff. Go with Imperial Oren or Vekaro Strelt, it's safer.
(Don't be cruel to people because they want to try something new, please)

Hey there. : )

Snow Elves a culture, a certain group of elves that follow certain beliefs.

You could play as a High Elf that follows the Snow Elven culture, most certainly. However, on Lord of the Craft, High Elves are very radical and try to preserve their 'Purity'. Purity of blood and of mind.

To play as a High Elf following Snow Elven culture would probably label you as an Impure to other High Elves. However, nothing is stopping you from doing it!

Nothing is stopping you from being a Monk either, though once again, you might be regarded as impure by some of the more extremist High Elves.

Have fun on the server and if you have questions about High Elves feel free to PM me.

By a monk, I meant a peaceful, holy type person that you might find in other RP's. I noticed though that there are the Cloud Temple Monks who heal people, which I only just saw on the wiki.

I want to try to be pure and a monk, if I can, although it seems like that might be impossible.

Cool, thanks for all the help. Even though I didn't mean the cloud temple monks, they seem cool, so I may try to be one and a high elf.

I would like to note - one cannot as apply as a snow elf... You must apply as one of the official races. (High elves are included among the official races.)

Snow Elves are a culture. He can apply as a High Elf/whatevs following that culture. Since it isn't a race/subrace and there isn't an application process to join it.

In that regard, I believe no one can play as a Temple Monk, but feel free to learn Healing Magic and become a priest

Snow-Elf is a variant of a High-Elf, it's a culture, if somebody applies as a snelf they probably mean their high-elf is a member of the snelf culture.
