A Small Piece Of Advice To Mpm Users

Greetings!

Edit: Accidentally put the wrong gyazo for Readicti at first, it's fixed now.

So as those of you with the More Player Models mod may have noticed, with Sporadic's recently added feature on the server to show character names above a player's model instead of their Minecraft name, your precious custom models for other players are gone! (As shown below.)

Sure I could just type /showmcnames and have it back to 'normal' (Normal being what was last saved in your mpm playerdata folder.

But then of course, you don't get the joy of viewing someone as their character as opposed to their MC name.

On to the actual guide-ish part of this. A sort of fix to this problem involves delving into the folder shown above, and renaming the file of whomever you want to see as their true MPM model.

We're going to be using my friend Readicti for this demonstration, since she was already shown above. So to begin, we're going to find her data file in the folder.

Those two files are the key to what brings the wonders of custom player models into your minecraft. So in order to get the desired outcome, we'll rename both of them to her character name.

I'd also suggest making a copy of the two files shown before incase you decide to ever switch to showing their actual Minecraft names. Along with that, this is only really something i'd do to those I avidly roleplay with, otherwise renaming the files of everyone on the server to their character name becomes far too tedious.

Moving on. Let's look at what our good friend Readicti looks like!

Wonderful!

I believe i've covered most everything I wanted to say, and all I have to repeat is that you should make a copy of the file of the data for their true minecraft name in the folder as well before you rename one. This may seem a bit too complicated to some of you, but I just thought it's nice to use on the people I role-play with most often. Hopefully, we get MPM back on the server soon so this whole proccess can be avoided, since your Minecraft will automatically create the files as shown in the beginning of the post for everyone and their character.

One last thing. It doesn't particularly have any relation to this thread, but still a pretty cool feature. In the 1.7.10 More Player Models, you have the ability to upload a skin from in-game.
