We have offered food and have displayed hospitality. With the razing of our camp and the slaughtering of our citizens, we see this gentility is not reciprocated. As such, we respond to your request that Seventians disband and crawl back to the empire with nothing more than a frown. Many past nations have fallen before you, groveling to hold on to what they have. Seventis, however, will stand tall and face the onslaught of your vicious empire. Many in this world despise the tyrannical rule of Oren, but lack a leader to stand up beside them. Seventis will fill this role, standing as the vanguard against the systematic destruction of Human dignity.Your sentiment that the title “King of Seventis” is but something to hand to a good little servant is nothing more than despicable to us. The mantle of King of the Seventians is one chosen by the people, one that belongs only to them and not to a foreign emperor. We do not acknowledge your reign over us, and as such, refuse any form of subordination due to your insatiable need to have a longer title. You may claim lordship over the Seventian people, but we do not lower ourselves to such a degrading stature.Seventis is more Orenian than the empire you hold, not by the blood that courses through our veins, but by our noble hearts. The old Kingdom of Oren stood by virtues of justice and liberty, ideals that have long since been tossed aside and replaced by terror and malice. Seventis is one of the few remaining bastions of hope in a race strewn together by fear and hate. What was once an accepting and tolerant Humanity is now one bent on extermination, genocide, and domination. The Seventians refuse to be annihilated by a nation led by such evil figures who seek complete control over all they see.The people of Seventis collectively reject your demands to join the empire. Rather than be bound low in servitude, we stand tall and proud as all men of humanity should. We are not united by a bent knee, but rather by the brotherhood of our people. Our Kingdom is an ancient one, founded by the brave men of northern Aegis. It was only in our time of weakness, during the great plague, that Oren assimilated and exploited us. Now, you seek to keep us repressed. To stamp out any call for freedom. To impose your repressive and barbaric practices upon us. We are not like the others who clamor to you in pursuit of precious titles and lands, we are free.Our ideals consist of tolerance, comradery, and freedom. Seventians rightfully lay claim to many great scholars, craftsmen, and philosophers. We are a united nation made up of not only Humans, but Dwarves and Elves who have proven their loyalty and skill many times over. Our leaders do not oppress nor restrict, rather they inspire and guide. Our nobles are that because of their noble deeds and dedication to their people. They are not named to oversee bound serfs or to appease their master, as in the empire. The Seventian livelihood is that of free pursuits and a common morality. We are proud, and we are free. We are prepared to stand together and take up sword and shield against tyranny. We are prepared to die in defense of our way of life. We will not meet you on the field, and we will not present you the opportunity to slaughter us. Instead, we will strike at our choosing and retreat to the shadows. He looks to Erwin, who passes by the main hall of Steinmacht, "We should have enough food for quite some time." Erwin smiles and nods, "Excellent work, Favian." His men ordered to increase production for the coming storm, the defense of the people becomes the first and foremost priority. He looks to the many soldiers who have taken up arms to protect the sacred ideals of a nation; the nation of Seventis. "Gather all the blades we have! We must prepare to face annhilation. Our deeds will be rembered by many, we must not fail." One of his trusted men sets his hand upon Erwin's shoulder and smiles. The note is long and passionate, its context unfortunate enough to draw out a low grumbling from Ashhad. "It would seem, then, that Seventis... or the village bearing its name has been razed. They cry for the ways of old, for bygone Al'Khazar that bent to conquest. You know the stories, Volundr, I am sure. The plague that followed... It is why my line stayed so very far away, you know. Somewhere, along our turgid histories, I believe humanity took a greater curse into its flesh, consigned to the carved hearts of our remainder. "Whatever awful work was done has embrittled the progeny of our great past, now misused, and for what purpose? Unity through egotism, perhaps, but I cannot say for certain. I am not a man who cares deeply for strangers, mind you, but the wisest course for these men would be to pursue resilience, to endure in whatever form they should require, instead of inviting this curse deeper into the traps that rattle inside our chests...
