The Impure's Plea

 Share

Recommended Posts

A Letter is pinned outside the gates of the elves, and copies are scattered nearby. Another in particular is sent directly to the new leader of elvenkind - Phaedrus.

"For decades now, those of the Mali'aheral who have abandoned their heinous ways have been forced into exile. Away from our families, and from our friends in the land of our people. We have been forced away, hunted, and tortured for crimes that include the terrible acts of loving and seeking equality.

It brings me great joy to see the Aheral's regime fall to pieces, and even more to see whom I believe to be a truly capable and just ruler replace it. For this reason, I make my request.

Open your lands to the High Elven exiles. Treat us as you would a mali'ker, or a mali'ame. Allow us to, at long last, return home. Strike down the laws that inhibit us.

I cannot speak for all of our sort, but myself and those around me would be willing to return to the nation. To bolster the strength of Malin's people once more. Against both iblees, and our wicked kin.

I have read elsewhere that the impure are to be protected from the purging, but I wish for a statement about our welcoming to our grand nation.

I eagerly away your reply, and I hope such to be a public matter.

Dared raises an eyebrow, looking at the notice whilst humming along to a 20 minute Southeron twist on a song, before scribbling on the poster the words :

"Just Shut-up and Show-up."

Relgard Sintel,

While the Silver Law is no longer as prominent as it once was, I will not foolishly disregard the mali'aheral's reasoning for exiling certain individuals. The law shall still be strictly maintained within Anni'sul, rest assured. What I can simply suggest to you is, come and contribute to the serenity of the city, and not its chaos. The invitation extends to anyone else who finds themselves suitable to return.

A reply is sent.

"I hope this letter finds you well, and I must thank you for the offering of a chance.

The Mali'aheral have created 'impurity' as a catch-all term for dissent. Some of those exiled very much deserved to be, but I'd say an equal number did not. It is a situation akin to squares and rectangles. All of their depraved were cast out as impure, but not every impure was cast out for depravity, or crime, or evil.

It is all that I ask that you judge us as individuals, rather than members of a group that exists only in name. I will heed your advice and come to help, as will those around me. In my own particular case, I am happy to say that one of your own 'protected' can vouch for me.
