A Frustrating Situation With Poor Internet Quality

So a little background that might be required in order for anyone to help me. I go to a certain college and this certain college at certain times usually around after classes during the peak hours my internet gets really, really, /REALLY/ terrible. I mean it's pretty much I can connect to the server, the server even shows full bars but as soon as I get in and load a few chunks I get this error http://gyazo.com/a33ac58ad66c28a7b584192c6b935ae0. I realize this is a problem most likely caused by all the bandwidth being used or lowly dispersed to everyone.

This is most likely on my end or its just the age old problem of being unfortunately connected to a terrible internet service that's out of my control. The strange thing is I never used to have this problem. Whether this is something they have changed on their end, or something happened on my end(I have re installed MC since then) I'm not to sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I realize there is no help for poor internet just looking for a possible optimizer/fix/anything to increase my internet speed or bandwidth allocation, and no I don't want to hack my schools internet, thanks :)

Its pretty much out of your control. If you have an unlimited data plan on your phone with good coverage, use that as a hotspot. I could get 6 down/3 up on my phone one time. I'm not sure about the feasibility of getting your own internet, so it looks like you got to tough this one out.

I know the feels. I live in the middle of nowhere and on a good day I get a single Mb/s, peak times I'm at like .4-.6 Mb/s . I've looked for everything to try and make it work, but nothing does. It sucks.

Lima suggested turning off connected textures, I'll give it a go and let you know the results after a few days. Thanks for the quick responses everyone, really appreciate it.

To be perfectly honest nothing you can do, If possible switch to wired connection and that may help. But otherwise its an issue with bandwidth usage, I had the same issue from renting out and splitting an internet bill, whenever my roommate was watching Netflix i was unable to do anything so i got my own line as he was unwilling to upgrade our package. But clearly that is not the best option in a dorm setting..

There's no fix beyond getting some personal net going. Public net shouldn't be relied upon for anything.

I went into this knowing there probably /was not/ a fix, I've tried what Lima has suggested and so far I've had no problems. I'll let everyone know how it goes tonight during more peak hours.

Edit: Surprisingly the suggestion /actually/ worked, thank you Lima! No problems thus far, it appears to be fixed.
