An Absence Resolved, Regency And Elections.

After the skirmishes have ended and a peaceful atmosphere has returned to Haelun'or, this relative silence is soon disturbed by shouts.

"Mali'aheral! Gather in the town square! Quickly now. By the library!"

Upon arriving, one would find a crowd beginning to gather. Other Mali'aheral who had heard the calls, and found themselves curious. Delonna stands by the library, and begins to read his notice aloud.

"Mali'aheral of Haelun'or.

It has come to my attention that our illustrious Sohaer has taken his leave. The Silver Triumvirate must have three people to serve its purpose, so I am announcing the start of another election. Those who feel themselves capable of the sacrifices required of one who leads our people, may announce their candidacy and explain why they're to be seen as a capable candidate.

As we are also in a state of war, leaving ourselves with unfilled leadership positions while the election takes place is not an option. To ensure the Triumvirate is capable of leading us, in my position as Maheral I will act as a regent, taking the place of absent Triumvirate members until their positions are filled.

With that announcement made, let the shameful politics begin once again."

After finishing, he pins up the paper continuing his announcement and leftover spaces beneath it.

((Not hiding this OOC in a spoiler because it was ignored last time. Chuck your candidacy speeches here, to keep them all in one place. Any replies that are offtopic, trolly or by people who wouldn't RPly be present will of course be removed.))

Lyrell smiles, showing his shiny white teeth and nods in agreement.

"Of course I shan't be running, far too new and far too uneducated in our ways but I do wish to give those who run a simple word of good luck and that I hope for the best of our kin."

*In the library stoods Avern’dionne Adriane, a familiar face in the city. She looked to the mali’aheral around, brushing her hair slightly from her face. She smiled slightly at the crowd, then began to speak.*

“Karin'ayla, mali'aheral of blessed Haelun'or. I am Avern'dionne Adriane; many of you already know me, for I have resided amongst our exalted kin for many moons, and served our race as Medi’ir of the Triumvirate for some time now. I stood alongside the Maheral in reclaiming our cihi, and have put many hours into it’s reconstruction. For many years have I stood in the name of elmaehr’sae hiylun’ehya, remaining at the forefront of our efforts to restore to us the lands that were taken by Annilir Phaedrus, and to protect them ever since from the vile actions of Artemic. My endeavors have secured us the safety we now have, and I will not stop until we can live in peace once more without the threats from those below.”

“I stand before you now, brothers and sisters, children of Larihei, with the intent of running for Sohaer, and I make such known now. If we allow ourselves to fall to impurity, surely, the blessed enclave of our people shall fall once more to the machinations of those such the vile mali’ame, the dwarven puppeteers, and their savage orcish allies. Are we to succumb to this? No, we must persevere and fight for elmali’aheral, to guide the world in progress and enlightenment. I will lead us through this conflict, either by the word or the blade, to a new age of amelioration.”

“We must stand, mali’aheral! We must stand together, united as one entity, as Haelun’or. No longer shall we wallow in the decadent idleness that has gripped our people so many times before.  Each and every one of us must contribute to furthering our blessed Haelun’or, and defending elmahre’sae hiylun’ehya. Whether it be those individuals gifted in the arcane, whom wield their eldritch arts with fervor, or elmali’aheral who follow in our traditions of art, music and literature.”

“Yet, we musn’t forget those who don masks of silver, and wield the steel blade to protect what we have fought so hard to achieve. They strive towards the preservation of Haelun’or, and I shall make our military a force to stand through time, and protect the future of Larihei’s blessed children.”

"We face a war on the horizon, a war that did not need to happen. Ultimately lliran, peace is what we want, and peace can be achieved. Some among us have disturbed this peace, but is that the way of the mali'aheral, is that the way of elmahre'sae hiylun'ehya? No lliran, it is through diplomacy, not the blade, that we will thrive. If we are the aggressors, then we are no better than the bortu."

“We musn’t forget who we are, or what  Haelun’or stands for; as they always have, her blessed walls tower over the landscape, and her magnificent spires reach into the heavens. Our labours have made this home one of our most glorious, and we will not lose it. We will strive for it’s preservation, and for the futures of our children, a future where silver shines bright.”

“I call upon you now, mali’aheral. Elect me as your Sohaer, and I shall guide us into a new era of prosperity. iyathante ito Haelun'or! ay'Larihei!”

*As the people begin to discuss the words she has spoken, Avern’dionne faintly smiled. She then bowed her head before the crowd and would prepare to answer any question bestowed upon her.*

Galan Evindal takes to the stage, the once fumbling, nervous boy presenting confidence as he slowly rises up the steps. After a brief pause, his eyes scrutinize the crowd before his voice begins to talk with an oddly phlegmatic tone.

“We’re at war.”

Another pause, further glancing across the gathered.

“What the others offer is not what we require. They strive for science, magic and education which the mali’aheral do not need. Now, do not take my words falsely, I care for each of these as much as the last yet our stance with the mali’ame and their selective allies does not allow for such.. privileges.  Ladies and gentlemen, I offer you someone who will stop at nothing to diffuse the hostilities between the mali, whether it be solved through peaceful negotiation or if we have to pour the cursed gold into each eye of their ill-minded council. For when the war has been settled, and we no longer sit in fear of bortu or mali’ame raids taking us by surprise, then we can return to what many find truly important.”

Giving the crowd yet another moment to consider his words, he shortly returns to his speech with ever increasing passion.

“I ask each and everyone of you to vote for me not only to solve the war, but to protect our children, and their children for we shall not be forced out of our lands once again. Too long has the mali’ahereal changed their home because of war.. hostilities.. Yet no longer, now we shall stand within our cihi together and fight the oncoming wave that is war.

I do not doubt there will be casualties, however those that give their life to protect another will not be forgotten. Whether it be a monument, or the memories that lurk our minds they shall always be known for what they did. For giving your life to protect our homeland is something no mali’aheral should have to do, yet our fate has been decided..

To conclude ladies and gentlemen, I Galan Evindal nominate myself for the position of Sohaer and the responsibilities that come with it.”

After he finishes his speech, he makes a hasty retreat from the stage before disappearing into the cihi.

"I myself shall not be participating as duty calls elsewhere. I shall only hope that the people of Haelun'or will be able to elect a strong and steadfast leader during these dark times."

Asul'athri, former Okarir'tir of the Sillumiran, scowls at the speaker, and at the fact that no other candidate has stepped up with a challenge."And what shall you do after the war, hm? And on what grounds may you stake a claim to being able to even try to lead us in this time of war? I do not know you as a Sillumir - though perhaps you were recruited in my absence - nor do I recall seeing you often in elcihi in times before. We do not need a simple warmonger whose only solution is violence and blood, nor do we need a sniveling politician whom swoops in with pretty words without the capacity to follow them through into reality. We need a guardian with experience, strength, and wisdom. As  have said to my lliran before - the survivor is not he whom holds to a code of honour, but he whom fights wisely and dirtily. You may, perhaps, fight dirtily, as it seems my successor has been doing - but I wonder as to how wisely you shall lead and fight? For the mistakes of old cannot be repeated now - the choice to fight was a decision poorly made. And now, I fear, we are all about to pay for that choice. Shall no other more worthy step up to challenge the speaker, or must I truly step up myself?"

((No OOC feels, man, I know it sounds a bit aggressive but it's all in RP, kay?))

Galan Evindal would stop his descent from the stage, quickly turning to face the man offering such criticism.

“I understand your concerns, nor am I insulted by them. I have never been apart of the Sillumiran, I have never been low or high within their ranks. Yet, it is not a soldier we need. The duties of a soldier are for the Okarir’tir, and I will support the elected candidate with my capabilities.. The Sohaer is  leader, a figurehead, someone to make the correct decisions. I cannot provide evidence that I hold any such skills, and I shall not claim lies about what experience I have, so take that as you will.

If you believe that I would dare mindlessly shed the blood of my kin then you are mistaken, I do not argue against the point that mistakes have been made leading to this moment yet it has already arrived, we’re at war. I will do everything within my power to refrain from the blood shed of my fellow mali’aheral and only ever see it as a last resort.

Any single life lost of a mali’aheral, is a loss we all must endure.”

It’s k’ bae. No anger, only love.

"Kalameet, too, was a Sohaer - one who failed in the use of his power. A leader in a time of war must be a soldier in and of himself - he must know war, and battle, even if he does not like it, such that his decisions shall be those best made in times of turbulent chaos. I cannot condone this candidate - I ask again, is there no other whom shall challenge this candidate for the position?"

Duvaindir finished his speech on leaflets of papyri, a ceremony he often found himself performing. He bent at the pond, various men in his company, and drew water up against his slender arms and hands. The last of the water to drain he slaked against the papers and proceeded to exit to the south. With news of Sohaer Kalameet's descent from the seat of authority, he drew himself to the Silver Gates and found his way in. Thill'onn and there he found himself standing at a modest podium of his own assertion. There, in an unveiling of papers from pocket, he stood and made his announcement:

"The honor I received from one of the newest of our kin, whose name he did not give, but sure I am of his purity for he donned the mask of the Weeping Blades - he invited me here. At the treading of my meditative pilgrimage did he find me, accosted me initially but thereafter my gentle bidding did he retract his hard words and reciprocated me with glad tidings and an urging to return to the Silver City.

Here I am, in plain flowing robes of wool, I have been meditating on the ethics, on the poetics, on the morals. O these Times! O these Morals! We are at war, what have I to do with this?!

I have come to remind you all of what the ages try and speak of us as. Intelligent beings, we cast down gold-throated beings for what purpose? Now we recoil like a failed viper and cry 'defense!' but are we not like the ouroboros? The deeds of a follied few have swallowed our tail and while our mouths gag 'defense', we lie to ourselves about the reality of the situation!

Pray tell you not accuse me of not giving care for my kin, a great many I have seen to their safety and free from harm. I come as a controversial one, but I come with actual actions rather than groveling and the sort - I can end this war. I can end it swiftly and I can end it surely. I can do this while laying the very brick and mortar to a barrack that should have been built years ago. My dear, respected kin Asul'athri is correct in suggesting that we aren't exactly trained for what the follied few desire us to throw the young into and in that respect - I have written greatly on my direct experiences from the Fringe onward on the military sciences. I won't only be speaking of these sciences of the military, but seeing to the other sciences actually understood.

I have written many a great works in my custody, those who want the proof of these may send me a personal letter to view them privately. I will be a forthright Sohaer and one who will adapt to the demands but also strong enough to stand against the malignant elements that may spirit away the logic and reasoning of those not strong enough.

Also, Asul'athri, feel free to send me a written dispatch so that we may discuss the military sciences I have written on - I believe you will enjoy them with the utmost curiosity.

Much obliged and thank you for hearing me,
I am Duvaindir Thill'onn

((PS: Here comes the tricky part, I ask all those who have ridiculed me in their High Elf chat to try their damndest to do what the video game requires you to do. Separate OOC and IC. Think intelligently and without bias, and trust me - I know whom of you ridiculed me behind my back thanks to a certain cat who has been admirably unbiased and a great gamer to work with in the past.

I am going to go see the Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer at my local movie theatre so forgive me if Im not quick draw McGraw with responding to dissenting questions from others.))
