The Town of Montfort

“Where the gold flows faster than rivers”

Status: [Active]

w6o8TI5.png

Descended from the noble stock of West Anthosian Oren, the blood of the Sarkozic, Karovic, and Auvergnian peoples flows through the veins of the settlers of the Adrian Mountains, who maintain a culture rich with tradition, history, and faith.

Linguistically influenced by the Sarkozic tongue of High Ruska, the writings and orations of the people of Montfort, Woldzmir, East Cyraium, and Maker’s Wood mark important milestones in Orenian literature.

Notable for its economic success and the great number of artisanal and raw goods exports, the town of Montfort has risen to become the hub of trade in the Southeast Oren, and sits in the middle point between the County of Werdenberg, the Holy Palatinate, and the Barony of Vladov.

With the town’s rising success in foreign markets and increasing demand for goods, housing, and production, the Baron has seen fit to expand his council and spread out the administrative duties among other competent men.

An anonymous letter would be sent to the owner of the city.

"is magic illegal?"

The bird waits for a while for a response.

A letter is sent in return,

"So long as the guidelines which are set by  Court Mage(Franz Vladov) are followed."

(also why do you have two positions in the government of the same city? Seems a bit odd o.o)

Another bird is returned with a letter. "what are the coordinates of the town?"

Ser Edgar's eyes bulge out of his face at the sight of the very generous wages for Constable, Coinmaster, and guardsmen.

Another bird is returned with a letter. "what are the coordinates of the town?"

((Baron Tobia is a child, and he is not an acting member of the government until he comes of age. His uncle, also played by AiiM, is the acting regent until this time. He's not playing two overlapping positions in the government, just playing his other character as a Regent until the Baron grows of age.))

A note is left in Montfort.

To the lord of this fine city,

I seek to establish a home base for a certain organisation which would double as my accommodation. Would this be possible and what would it cost?

Utmost Regards,

Carlo Barone.

-A small grey kestrel would arrive at the Maer's house with a letter within its beak.-

To the lord that governs this fair town,

I hope this letter finds you in the greatest of health. My name is Elvi Terryal and I am hoping to come live in Montfort. I am  young Alchemist so I am hoping to set up my own home and lab here. I also have a few questions as well:

  1. Would magic be allowed? I, myself, is a fire mage (Although I am only still in training) but I reassure you, I do not use my magic for evil purposes. I only use it to aid myself in Alchemy, or to defend myself and others when truly necessary.
  2. How much would it cost for housing and tax? Forgive me for this strange question but I do like to be aware of things early instead of at the last second.
  3. Where is Montfort located?

I am unable to see the city now as I am travelling around Athera and the wilderness for ingredients for a while and I am unsure of when exactly I will be back.

Please reply as soon as you can.

Sincerely,

Elvi Terryal.

Bartender of the Drunken Monk & Alchemist.

((OOC: Due to bad internet problems, I won't be online a lot for the whole of next week possibly but I'm still wanting to live in Montfort.))

A letter is sent back swiftly, bearing the seal of House Montfort.

"Magic is indeed allowed, however if you are caught violating any magical laws set by the Archmage than you will be punished. As of now the Archmage hasn't set any laws so you are safe.

In regards to your other questions, Montfort is a tax haven. After you've payed your 50 mina down payment your don't have to be worried about housing fees. You can also find Montfort east of Petrus, follow the main road and travel accross the Attavic Highway."

Silonn mutters as he pens a letter with crimson ink. As he nears the end of the parchment he signs the letter and gives it to his exotic bird which flies off immediately. The letter reads:

To Simon de Montfort,

I have recently been travelling throughout the realm and when I returned to Montfort expecting my warm bed I found my house had been taken over. I was surprised that something like this could occur in your good town but it has I am sad to say. I hope this issue is resolved swiftly,
