History

The Illatian general and second generation member of House Nicator was a honorable man.Romulus became a soldier of great renown, he had fought across the land of the Fringe in the name of the Imperium. In his youth, on the continent of Anthos, he was wandering as a sword for hire, when he was mauled by a pack of wolves in Brigand’s Pass. He came across a strelt woman getting water from the well outside the pass, she took him into her home to be fed and cared for. He spent a few weeks in the town, growing quite close to his caretaker.

Romulus had been a risky lad in those days, not caring for the code of honor that would bind him to his shield and gladius later in life. No, the Nicator had no chivalry to abide to and soon found himself abed with the woman. After his wounds had healed, Romulus was called off to the brewing conflict of Oren politics in the wake of the Exodus. He left his lover and forever buried that past behind him, not once taking a woman for a wife afterwards. Soon afterwards, Anthos fell.

Years had gone by when Romulus found himself in the Fringe, fighting for his uncle Theodosius, training his bannermen. A young boy arrived at his door one morning, claiming to be his son. Happiness and shame had overtaken Romulus. For a few years Romulus took the lad in under the guise of having him as a serving boy. In the end he gave the teenager a bastard sword and a shield sending him off to sell his sword as he once had. No, Romulus would not bring shame upon the growing House Nicator de Visconti with a bastard child.

The boy, Thomas was able to find himself to squire for an exiled Kaedrini knight, working in his warband of mercenaries. Thomas took the name Roost, as his fellow sellswords would often see him looking over the land from the height of trees, like a bird in his roost. For years the teenager grew, learning the art of war and soon becoming a sellsword and starting a band of his own. They became employed in the service of the Chivays during the Red Realm, then for the elves in the Fringe Wars. In his campaigns he spent many days on march and finally the Fringe War ended, the plague destroying any hope for a campaign, a white peace ensued. With a fat coin purse and a tire of war, the sellsword soon fell in love with a Illatian girl he had met in a village outside of Kaldonia. He soon discovered she was of an unsavory profession, a harlot… a *****. She quit her life of sin to be with her brave warrior, bu soon he was called back to fight in the dwarven-human conflict again. During the war he was bested by an orc, his sword smashed upon the stones of Vekaro. The deadly blow of the uruk’s hammer crippled the sellsword, but a charge led by his own father, Romulus, claimed the orc before he could end the man’s life.

Thomas was no longer useful to the armies of humanity and elves, when his contract expired he was given his coin and sent off. Returning to his lover, he proposed to her as soon as they saw eacother. The two bought a plot of land with Thomas’ blood money, raising a family upon a small farm.

Their eldest child Brennen Roost made his entrance into the scene of Oren during the Storm King’s Rebellion. After changing his dragon tabard for a crow, he served alongside regent Roy Carrion and succesfully saved a group of survivors from the massacre of Angren. Knighted on the battlefield for his bravery, Ser Brennen soon found himself without a lord when the Carrions were ousted from the seat of Oren.

Years later he returned to the new Oren, gaining land and becoming a landed knight under Adria. Here House Roost’s story begins once more. The griffins gather.

Her personality is really up to the player but I had pictured her as the astute and motherly sister, very mature and quick to reprimand her brothers. She would be fairly tall with long brown hair. A proper Lady.
