The Great Athera Map-Making Competition

Stop this dumb map making and get a dynmap... it'd make everyone happy. We don't even mind that the server has to be offline for a while to update it (which seems sketchy AF this being used as an excuse, as on other servers this doesn't happen). It can be updated once a week, or once a month.

Dynmap could be exploited for metagaming purposes, truth be told, although it is dead useful.

*The aging elf rubs his chin, looking over the maps. So many had been sent, many of them late, but the grizzled elf didn't mind. He had lived for centuries, a few extra days meant little to him. It took the elf some time to consider each of the entries. Finally, he reached down, selecting one from his table, only realizing as he held it up to the light that he'd let this drag on for several elven weeks.*

Hail friends of Athera,

To begin, I must apologize for my lateness. An old elf cannot be expected to be timely, although with many waiting on a reward, there is no excuse.

That being said, one cannot expect this notice without a reward and winner. And for this, I have made a selection. Though this map requires a few revisions, it is the best looking of each of the submissions, and the one which I shall share with others in the future.

I appreciate all submissions, and wish the others the best of luck in their future endeavors. Thank you.

To start, the rankings of the top three are as follows:

3rd Place: Graf and Bobby123

2nd Place: AmKrules

1st Place: Spike823

As promised in the original post, Spike shall be receiving the prizes promised for the winners, while the other two shall receive a special in-game tag titled "Map Maker."

To elaborate a little on why the winning map was selected, I cannot actually present the complete map at this time. It's an html file, rather than an image file, with several layers which I can't display in this post. The map is interactive in the sense that different nations/cities have banners which can be clicked, linking the viewer to a relevant wiki page.

I'll be working the next few days to figure out how to display this on the website. However, because I'm not totally certain how to do that as of yet, I merely linked one image that makes up a portion of the html file. In the off-chance that a way to link this on the website cannot be found, then AmKrules' map may be used, and an arrangement should be made with him.

I'm sorry that it's taken me so long to get this posted... It's been a combination of dealing with timezones, waiting on a few late submissions, and trying to figure out just how Spike's map works. That being said, I realize that I messed up, so I'm sorry about that.

Thanks to all who participated, many of you did a great job. It really was hard to pick one as the winner. Good luck everyone, have a good day/night/whatever!

EDIT: Also, contact me or Readicti for various rewards.
