I think we need to talk about this, as made evident by the millions of status' a second.

This is literally an OOC gossip chat that intends to flood RP to try breaking away from Oren (In my point of view, at least), not really because it's better for RP or anything, but because they're too proud OOC of their race to think it's okay that they will be run by another. Of course, it's filled with the most ambitious and influential Elven leaders, but among them is staff. Staff and leaders who suggest OOC intervention to give THEM power.

What are people's thoughts on this?

Am I the only one that can't help but find it gross that this is what things have come to? How come leaders and staff alike must conspire to shake RP because of OOC tastes?

Let's talk.

EDIT: I invite those involved to explain themselves, too. I'm sorry for my rage, but this irks me. A lot.

EDIT 2: Incriminating logs pointed out by Sultan/Mog

[4/1/2015 4:57:45 PM] Connor: As for getting rid of Oren, Bird. This is not Malinor and Mog is not an admin. If we kill their men in elven cities and say GTFO, they're gone.

[4/1/2015 4:57:45 PM] Connor: That's a... Convince the staff to tell Oren to **** off, issue.

[4/1/2015 5:03:42 PM] Connor: Well, we wait until the admins clear "Oren can't **** over all the races".

[4/1/2015 5:17:35 PM] Connor: The admin issue is like 90% solved

[4/1/2015 5:17:41 PM] Connor: If we declare independence, we won't be fucked

[4/1/2015 5:17:43 PM] Connor: I'm 99% sure

[4/1/2015 5:21:12 PM] Mothman the Mithradites Squiggles McGee: DOing this at the wrong time could just end up with a crusade.
[4/1/2015 5:21:18 PM] Connor: And Mith

[4/1/2015 5:21:21 PM] Connor: There will be no crusade

[4/1/2015 5:21:32 PM] Connor: Literally the whole staff team recognize how shitty this is for orcs, dwarves and elves.

This will all blow over in a matter of days, if not tomorrow.

That was honestly, however, the dumbest plot I have seen on LoTC. I interpreted it as "we're going to defeat Oren with our salt!". I don't think it's anything but Kalenz and some high elves being pissy though.

Elves have been on the receiving end of this sort OOC welfare for a long time. It's kind of silly that the staff's idea of empowering the elves is forcing them into a nation nobody likes.

I've already locked a thread like this once and I'd rather not go through a whole field of them. However, I do see some of the points being made now. This thread seems to be less focused on the action itself but more on the implications of it...

Keep it civil and keep away from any attacks on a specific person or group and discuss away my friend.

((As a side note, if you DO have an issue with a specific player or staff member you can have a discussion with either a GM or, in the case of a staff member, an admin))

I dunno, cause I'm a noob, so take this with a grain of salt. I always thought it was good when leaders of nations talked OOC so they could plan and orchestrate stuff and not hate each others guts, but I'm not entirely sure with this one. To me it just seems like a bunch of people talking.

It's different when the nation leaders cite OOC reasons to act in character, and justify those actions by using OOC power to influence in character happenings.

I do understand, however the need to stop Oren at some time using OOC tactics, because let's be honest, if they didn't Oren would have taken over everything and made ever other race extinct. Considering they take up a majority of the server.

It isn't inherently a bad thing, I mean, using these OOC tactics allows for exotic and high fantasy roleplay to continue to exist for the people who enjoy it, because not everyone enjoys being a soldier or a merchant who PvP's all day or farms pixels.

Though, using these tactics for personal gain is just a ***** move, always.

Probably be locked this thread will be.

Though, there is just one part of this that urks me more than the actual conversation of how to get rid of Oren, and it's the said GM's actions in this.

Seeing a GM actually take part in this, I believe goes against what they signed up for. I understand private conversations, but when something like this is out in the open, it's just stupid.

Read this:

https://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/101375-what-is-a-global-moderator/

Global Moderators are chosen from only the most helpful and contributional members of the community, and they are required to remain active after joining the team. Though they are tasked with upholding the rules, Global Moderators are not above them, and thus they are just as bound to them as any other player of the community.

Literally goes against the tennents that they were told to uphold when joining the team. If a player can get warned for private skype logs that are shown to the team, and action is taken, it's normal, am I right? Yet, when a GM can just go and say they can give people protection, blatantly, through GM/OOC means, abusing their powers, then action needs to be taken.

I want action to be taken against this or so help me.

quick question:

Why do people think oren in charge = everyone else has to be dead?

I'd be fine with some OOC action being taken, but this is a power play.

This is a kabal of leaders looking for power in an independent, elven state, and wish to use OOC means to gain this power.

As for the PvP and farming jests, people enjoy that, and must be catered to as well. Elves have literally had to do no fighting since we took them over, but not they wish to take up arms because.... They don't like fighting?

Bull to the crap my friend.

This is beyond shady, as they also conspire to kill their own leaders to take their power and push their goals. I'd be fine with all the OOC, if it wasn't for sheer personal gain.

Action needs taken.

EDIT: In regards to the Coasters comment, it's rather ignorant to say everyone needs to die for Oren to succeed when two out of three elven states opted into vassalage peacefully.

Just take note it was not "the elves" in general. A couple of high elven leaders tried to get the others on board, which was refused. I understand your frustration, I just ask that it not be generalized to the other subraces. Welves at least are actually really happy with the current setup.

Perhaps its your picture... assuming you're with Oren. Otherwise, void the poorly made joke.
