In the aftermath of the wyrm attack on the city of Al-Dirakh, Hammon lies on his back in the sand. As the denizens of the city scurry about the carcass of the dead beast, he pats around in the sand, finding the hilt of his khopesh. He attempts to rise, only getting an inch or so up before wincing and collapsing. His breathing is labored and each breath is painfully drawn. He hearkens to his knowledge of medicine, deducing that he has broken a few ribs after being headbutted by the massive weight and speed of the wyrm. He opens his mouth to speak to the few remaining people in the bazaar, letting out only a cough as they pass him by and continue walking.

Hammon's heart rate quickens and he attempts to call out, only worsening his coughing fits. He slides his curved sword downwards, and his facial expression changes to that of confusion as it abruptly stops beside him. He rolls his head to the side, only seeing the khopesh stop against his leg. Hesitantly, he swings it outwards and inwards again, feeling a shudder in his waist, but not in his leg. Now panicked, Hammon calls out between worsening coughing fits, "I cannot... feel my... legs...."

Beneath his bright red tunic and battered leather lamellar, three of his ribs have been broken and splintered, sending bone fragments forth into his lungs, therein puncturing and letting blood into them. He coughs more and more, blood eventually surfacing as he slowly loses consciousness. Hammon looks around, desperate for someone- anyone- to help him, but as his vision fades and his blood fills his lungs, no one comes. After an hour or so, he lay dead in the center of the bazaar: the mighty Amir having been killed by a worm.

Nafis cups his hands over his face and looks on in horror between his fingers at the sight of Amir Hammon, the man he was saw wrestle walking corpses in the old ruins close by Al-Dirahk. Tears swell up in the young Qalasheen's eyes and he shakes his hesd in disbelief. He runs towards the body of his fallen big-friend and tries to shale him. It was long after the Southerner had fallen.

"They got mama and papa...-and they return for our jewel." Nafis touches his head to Hammon's chest and breaks out into a loud sob.

*Amir frowns as he walks around and glances down at Hammon's body*
"You were a lazy Amir, but nevertheless a good man. May you laugh up above with our forefathers."
*Amir then turns to the slowly forming crowd*
"Allah has punished us for the plundering of the creature. I warned you all, but none listened. Now this man's death is on your soul for the rest of your life. You threw his life away for some scales. Disgusting."

Enepay shouts out the window of his home, bedridden. "The man was injured before we took the creatures scales, and none of you thought to stop to help him. I had a crushed leg, what's your excuse?"

"I was trying to restrain you from plundering the holy beast of Allah. But your greed blinded you. And a man is now dead. Congratulations. I hope the scales were worth it."

A young man, not well known by many in Al-Dirakh, would hear the crippled man's statement.

"Heh, the cripple has more sense than our soldiers...."

"All are equal before Allah. You may enjoy your scale on Earth, but when you depart, you shall feel his wrath. That is all."

*Amir says as he walks away*

Faiz is overwhelmed with sadness and despair as he mourns for poor Hammon.. He is told everything that has happened, and also hears of what was said and has decided to speak to the crowd within the Bazaar.

"You all forget that Allah is the all seeing, all knowing. He is the holder of the past, present and future, he knows what will happen and when, but does not tell us for our own good. Allah has tested us on a sin today, he has tested us on Greed. We have failed, and Allah knew we would. He has seen it fit to take our beloved Hammon away from us for such.."

Faiz sighs, shaking his head

"Hammon was a good man, very loyal and kind to all. He will truly be missed... All we can do to make up for what we have done is to mourn for Hammon, and pray to Allah that all his sins are forgiven, so that he may be given a proper place within Paradise.."

Faiz inhales slowly, and exhales out the nose "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon, rahmat allah alyk, my dearest Hammon.."

Nafis glares back at Amir as he walks away, kneeling before Hammon's body. The teary eyed boy shouts out "That beast was nothing holy at all if it harmed Allah's people, you poop head!" Nafis cups his mouth as the Caliph begins speaking, bowing his head apologetically for speaking such harsh words before him.

Isra Jharar later hears of the fall of Hammon, a man she never got to meet, and Enepay's involvement.

"... What happened, Enepay?" She asks softly to herself, as she sits on her rooftop garden and reflects on the events that had happened in her absence.
