Nothing whatsoever.

We don't need lockpicking in any form. It's a wick for rage with no RP benefit whatsover. Besides, people will just hide their chests, just as they make vaults with 16 wooden doors to avoid doorpicking, or woud make all their walls 7 blocks tall if 6 block high grappling was allowed.

Lockpicking sucked when we had it in Anthos. That, and bringing it back is kind of a slap in the face to donors.

Listen to this guy.

Keep lockpicking out except with OOC permission from the chest owner. The last thing you need to be doing is piss off the players who put money into this game and can easily take it back.

I don't remember much good ever coming from people lockpicking in the past, honestly.

Though I wouldn't mind if people can lockpick doors so they can break into/out of places. Just not chests. As has been said before, people give money to the server so they can protect their items. Creating a way for people to get around that just seems unethical. Call it a donation all you want, the server still promises those perks in exchange for money.

I donated to lock things and get craftbook. I personally wouldn't care if a thief could lockpick my stuff, because I can always one-up the thief. If someone's breaking in to my house and stealing things, I'll find where they did it and put a nasty spike or a bear trap. I can dig out and create an impromptu vault in five minutes. If you donated to the server solely for the purpose of protecting your fictional items, you've spent $25 on an utter folly in my opinion.

I think that OOCly guarding every chest sign and painting in your house detracts from roleplay. It gives you an unrealistic security bubble that prevents bad things from happening to a character. When you refuse to take risks in game, you're not going to get much RP at all.

Guess I'll just have to store all my stuff in my /echest if you're thinking of bringing this back.

I agree, I will never let my diamonds sit in a chest as long as Oren is still active!

Why would we want diamonds, we have like twenty people over legendary in the Miner skill.

I know that I'm not a donator and I don't see your point of view.

But, as a player in general, I believe the roleplay should be as realistic as possible. So If people could do it in the setting we would be in as if it was real life. Then it should always be the ultimate goal of the server itself to make the server realistic as possible and lockpicking is something that people did and still do.

To all the donators out there. I'm assuming you've been around for a fair share of time. So, you should know plenty about getting minas, so getting enough to buy more stuff wouldn't be so much of a problem, and learning to hide your stuff behind paintings and as people said in the past, If you are a high enough donator rank, you have /echest.

In the end, I want lockpicking re-implemented with the following parameters

1)The person whose chest is being lockpicked should be online

2) The person whose chest is being lockpicked should be notified OOCly about halfway through the lockpicking process to try and avoid powergaming.

3)The level of donator should make the lock on said chest harder to pick.

I believe we need rules for this. Such as, the person being stolen from has to be online. And we need RP items, and maybe some sorta Lockpicking skill?

If lockpicking becomes a thing I'll just bury all my crap underground. Allowing people to circumvent some defenses is silly. If you let them lockpick through 5 doors, everyone will have 6 doors to protect their stuff. It's pointless to try and allow these bypasses as defenses will just get more and more ridiculous and make things look ugly. Not worth.

I think it is a good thing, but many people will do it a lot without an actual risk of getting caught, maybe not the owner online but at least a few online that are around the area and walking past. And how would you actually know there are RP items in it?

The problem with the current system is thus, the server is getting quite big now so the ratio of players to GM is higher. Meaning when I created a persona that was a thief I had to wait around about 2 to 3 hours most days for my modreqs so if we could get a plugin where it is mechanical but still rp involved I think that would be great however the system now is great provided you ask a GM in advance of breaking into a house.

I think the system is fine.. but I agree that waiting for someone to be offline to steal their stuff is basically powergaming

Moved to The Great Library. It shall be sorted into the appropriate category shortly.

If you feel this is a mistake, please contact myself or any FM and we'll restore it.
