ARCHITECUS 4788 Popular Post Share Posted July 14, 2015 This short essay is found pinned to the churches in Felsen and Brelus, as well as in important gathering places throughout the Human realm. The ascension of our dear Sixtus III to the position of High Pontiff brought great promise to the hearts of the devout and those invested in the sound relations between Oren and her protectorates. It is the truth that, initially, his approach to the spread and upholding of the values of the Canonist faith were effective, converting and baptizing many once unfaithful Humans and non-Humans. Sixtus' benevolent ways planted the seeds of peace between Human and Elven kind. While Athera remained, those seeds sprouted, and even during the great migration across the vast waters those seeds thrived. Landfall came; new cities were built; new lands were explored. Sixtus' seat of authority was constructed in the great capital of Felsen, where fell winds begin to blow across the idyllic scene of religious harmony. The usual church functions characteristic to Sixtus quickly halted, but that seemed excusable due to the few months our people had lived in Vailor. A year passed, and no baptisms were celebrated; no attempts to further proselytize the unfaithful races were made. The only sign of Sixtus' authority was the rejection of a crusade. Another year passed. A bull is issued that shuffles a few holy men about, a feeble appeasement to Savoyard nobles. While all this time flies by, the Elves once interested in the idea of adopting the Canonist faith have weaned away due to Sixtus' cold uncaring to their plight. But why does the Pontiff show no devotion? The vice of lust. Many about Felsen can see our once holy Pontiff in intimate contact with a certain woman. In shadowed alleys they kiss as two young spouses; they hold and feel each other as a maiden and soldier long separated by war; they duck off into quiet haunts as secret lovers, and that is what they are. Sixtus' devotion and authority has been sapped by this woman, who I will keep anonymous at this point. But know, you harlot, your carnal desires shake the very future of this realm. I write this and make it public to bring it to the light of truth, for all attempts to dissuade the Pontiff have failed. Thank you for reading. The truth must prevail. The essay goes unsigned for obvious reasons.

John Ivory 4547 Share Posted July 14, 2015 "A pathetic attempt at slander. A ruthless tactic, claiming that I, the Vicar of God himself, am a sinner." Sixtus III frowns upon receiving the essay. He grunts, a low grumble coming from within him. "I've rather had enough of this. This rumor must be quelled." He begins upon an official response to the essay, it goes as follows. "To the lowly soul who would proclaim I a sinner, Let it be known that your words have gone on for far too long. Grown from a horrible lie created as jest by a young scoundrel in the streets of Felsen, one who all others had rejected, this fabrication has spread like wild-fire to those who would seek to create chaos and exaggeration out of none of the truth. You are pathetic to claim such a thing, that I, Sixtus III, High Pontiff and Vicar of God, would betray my position in pursuit of earthly flesh. I have given countless sermons rejecting such a sin, and you would proclaim I myself a lustful man? Your claims have not a single factual basis. All lies, based on feeble and weak-minded personal accounts of who knows who. Many about in Felsen? And who would those men be? Men who have spoken to me? I know not a single man who would create such a lie as this, but perhaps those who speak not to me - those who would reject my vows - would create such a lie to simply slander me to Oblivion based upon some weak joke a man made in a tavern. Our Great Church is as strong as ever. We have recruited countless men interested in the faith, I have ordained personally a myriad of peoples to that of priesthood. We have settled ourselves upon this realm, we have established several churches already, and have spread out amongst the land. You are simply blinded by foolishness to see it. You dare claim that our baptizing has ceased? As we speak, Abbot Radovid and his monks bring the Good Word to the Malinorians just as I have. As we speak, the Bishop Cordal meets with his diocese to produce great plans. You know not of what you speak, for this essay proves such a thing. I have had not my abilities sapped by a woman. In fact, I have never once committed this sin you claim I have. You cannot bring proof that I have simply because this is an absolute evasion of the true. Shuffles a few clergymen about? The Bull did not such a thing. It created clergymen, as well as dioceses, as well as bishops, as well as a new Triarchy. You are pathetic and take my work for the Church and spit upon it. The High Pontiff is the Vicar of God, the Supreme Pontiff of the Church. He is no priest. He is not to be seen every day, for it is simply not my duty. It is a priest's duty to do such sacraments, a deacon's as well, not the High Pontiff. Felsen is not the seat of the Pontificate, and has never been. I absolutely deny these claims, and will fully deny them in front of the Lord himself, for he knows me true. Signed, HIGH PONTIFF SIXTUS III, Vicar of God, Supreme Pontiff of the Faithful, Primate of Oren, Servant to the Servants of God"

In the dead of night, Michael of Gehenna rides for an undisclosed location. Having been sent upon this quest for the citation by a mysterious benefactor, with mysterious purposes and citation was the only thing on his mind. Upon his arrival the armored figure reigns in his steed and secures it to a nearby tree. The rest of this grueling journey would be made on foot. Michael set off into the pitch black woods, his path lit by moonlight. Lead exactly 4,732 paces in an a parallel direction at the heed of the morning star, the Knight arrived at his destination, a ruined shack on the hillside. He approached the dilapidated old house and ducked inside, peering back out to make sure he had not been followed. ---- Michael made his way down down through the stone tunnels, leading with torchlight. Eventually arriving upon a small, dank room, decorated only by a bear skin rug in the center. He made his way to the center, and threw the rug aside with the gusto of a man on the verge of discovery, to reveal an ancient safe, likely older than the woods above it. Michael reached into his armor, fishing around until he managed to produce three keys, attached to his neck by three separate chains: One in the shape of a globe, the other of a hawk, and the last molded as a star. He shoved each key in carefully, one after the other, from top to bottom. Wiping the sweat from his brow, Michael turned each key slowly and methodically, from top to bottom. The knight's shoulders jumped in surprise as the chest popped agape. He peered inside and to his surprise found it empty, save for one item: A file labeled TOP SECRET Special Agent Mick retrieved the file from the chest and slapped it down upon a nearby table with a practiced thwap. He began to flip through the file, and his heart caught in his chest, and his eyes began to sweat as he was enlightened, finally, by the wicked truth. He had found, finally, the holy citation legend spoke of. ----
