Devils and Heroes

Earth is, and always will be a place of chaos, and order. Good versus evil, powerful and weak. Rich and poor, slave and master. Man made concepts to help them cope with the horrors this world can unleash. Humans, mutants, aliens and other beasts all fighting because they must. Some are bad, other good, and then there's the ones who really just don't give a damn.

Set in the Marvel-DC Universe, you play a superhero. That's the gist of it, but it gets a bit more in depth. Obviously you aren't going to be a hero rivaling the heroic nature of Batman, or Wolverine right away and as such your powers will reflect this. That being said, you aren't stuck as some vigilante tier "hero" or a gang leader forever. This is a dynamic story with very dark consequences. The villains are dark, and true horrors with the heroes being forced to often make moral decisions with life threatening consequences.

Biography:

Born in Gotham, Michael Miles was raised among the mess that was Gotham, between criminals and crooked cops he learned to hate what the city stood for. When Batman arrived, he was among one of the many to rejoice as the city was cleaned up. As criminals like the Joker, Black Mask, the Riddler and Scarecrow were put away he found new pride in his city, and then enlisted in the US Army to help support his mother, a single woman who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. He received the news of his mothers passing while in Iraq and with a broken heart, signed up for experimental testing.

The experiments were a mixed result, he could run fast, lift more, and wounds he suffered were healed before ones own eyes. He would finish his tour in the Army, with hopes of going home but the research group had other plans. Scarecrow had escaped Arkham and controlled the group, and they kept Michael Miles, injecting him with the Fear Toxin, leaving him in a nightmarish state.

In a frenzy, after what seemed an eternity, Michael threw himself upon his attackers and killed them, carving a path through the facility and to freedom, finding himself in Gotham, his home. He escaped while his fears assailed him as real entities. After days of cowering he was rescued and taken to the Hospital where he found out he was listed as KIA. As police arrived, he would flee the hospital and establish himself in Gotham, daring to go as far as to declare Scarecrow his nemesis and hunting him, occasionally assisting Batman, Nightwing and even Red Hood.

His ultimate goal is to kill Scarecrow, and keep Gotham safe. Currently he is looking for a permanent line of communication with Batman.

Due to high volumes of Fear Toxin, Michael Miles is known to hallucinate and is extremely paranoid as well as eccentric. This can lead him to compromise his missions and goal, as well as partners he is working with.

Easily Forgettable - Recognizable in the conscious mind, forgotten in the subconscious mind.

Weaknesses:

-She cannot pick and choose who her powers affect.

-Her power doesn't work on those resistance to mental powers.

-Unable to effectively work on a team.

-Not really a weakness, but there are ways to get around her power. If someone were to have a detailed file on Myosotis/Devynn, or a videoclip/picture, they'd remember it. The only thing they wouldn't be able to remember is interactions they have with her in person or over a live feed/call.

Gifted with both sentience as well as heightened intelligence, Cerberus is able to survive among the harsh, untamed streets of gotham. His ability to manipulate the sound he produces, allows him to create aural blasts in his howls and barks. 

Weaknesses:
Despite his intelligence and powers, he is at the very basic of their core, a dog. He doesn't have enhanced stamina and he doesn't have much protection against pepper or other spices used to stop dogs from trailing people. His nose is incredibly sensitive. His ears are sensitive as well and while he is used to his own lower pitched yells, he has trouble handling higher pitched noises.

Brief History (Optional):
Dom used to be three dogs that were all chosen to be trained for a special project that was going to be used in Gotham's Police System. The idea was to experiment with these three dogs to turn them into an assistant to the already avaliable police force. The idea was to have an officer that had the incredibly useful senses and instincts of a dog in order to track down criminal locations, hideouts and chase down offenders who tried to escape on foot. Though the project was finished, it didn't receive the funding it needed as other heroes and villiains began to populate Gotham and make the police force obsolete. Dom escaped the department after he realized that he was going to be put down due to this lack of funding as they could no longer afford to keep him let alone train him to be a proper police dog.

When he turned 10, his parents were preparing their final reports for the public, when something happened. He became unstable, his cells devouring any nearby matter, including his parents when they attempted to help. After a week of instability, and devouring the entirety of their home, he learned to control his power. He learned to manipulate matter to create living creatures, as he attempted to recreate his parents. His attempts failed, but he has learned to control the consumption of matter to create living tissue, muscle, even bone. He has since learned medicine from independent study, and works as the Black Mask Gang's top doctor.

  • Everything he touches with his bare hands is disassembled into their smaller parts.
  • He can roll his tongue.
  • An ability to get into VERY undesirable positions.

Weaknesses:

  • He can’t take apart LIVING BEINGS.
  • Limited control over how much is disassembled when in a state of panic. If he was trying to disassemble the hinges off a door, he may only unscrew a single screw with his power, or accidentally disassemble the entire building and kill himself in the process.
  • A fear of using his own power, afraid that he might injure himself or others. He HAS to wear gloves constantly in order to not be taking apart everything he touches, and even while wearing gloves, he still avoids touching things..
  • He is not very skilled in rolling his tongue.
  • He is very much “allergic” to bullets, being split in half, being burnt, being incinerated, maimed, beaten to a pulp, trauma, and just death in general.
  • He’s also allergic to cats.

Personality Traits: He’s messy, panicky, and talks way too much, but he has a good eye for detail, and his unstructured lifestyle tends to make him quick on his feet. He hides his power from the public, and desperately tries to seem normal

Character Name: Joseph William McCarty
Identity: Red Swallow
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Powers:
- Superhuman Reflexes
- Enhanced Speed (when drawing his gun, firing, etc - he's taught himself to be naturally quite quick.)
- Healing Factor
Weaknesses:
- His Healing Factor isn't all that amazing. It can heal injuries such as cuts, fractures and broken limbs (though the latter two may take two or so days) but it can't grow back amputated limps of heal entire organs on it's own.
- He can often get a bit cocky for his own good, and he isn't the most tactical nor shrewd of the bunch. McCarty's agenda is run, gun, shoot, repeat and very little else.
- He's prone to violent outbursts of anger or rage during battle, which can be both a help or a hinderance depending on who he's facing.
 
Origin: Gotham
Personality Traits: Red Swallow is often regarded as the perfect image of a wayward warrior - silent, brutal and hardened. When it comes to his line of work, McCarty is cold and heartless, feeling no remorse or empathy for those he has to kill or hurt. If you ever live to cross him in some form or fashion, don't expect him to rest until he's finished hunting you down.
Residence: Gotham, currently. As a mercenary, he tends to travel often to accept a multitude of contracts.
Moral Alignment: Neutral Evil, occasionally Chaotic Good. McCartys moral pysche is fairly complicated.
Profession: Mercenary, though he was formerly a lowtime thug and a traditional criminal. 
Groups/Afflitations: The Suicide Squad. He's ran with them several times in the past.
Equipment: Twin Revolvers, a Double Barrel Shotgun and a Bowie Knife.
Suit/Outfit: Red Swallow emulates the appearance of the cowboys of the old west, wearing black clothes under a brown leather vest, gauntlets and boots, with a poncho around his shoulders and a mask covering the lower half of his face. His Stetson hat barely covers his dark blonde hair, and various bandoliers are wrapped around his waist, upper arms, and his hat. Holsters for his sidearms are strapped to his thighs.

Yeah, this will probably be a good idea. An objective before we start the FRP will definitely help get things going, and probably give each of our characters some sort of purpose.

 

EDIT: And oh my. We hardly have any support-type characters. This is going to be interesting. :o

Brief History (Optional): Born in the dome called "The World" XIX was one of many experimental mutants used to create new super soldiers. By the age of nineteen XIX underwent an excruciating surgery, replacing half of his brain with a computer. His new brain allowed him to control nanites in his bloodstream and on the battlefield. After his surgery XIX was separated from his family and trained for the rest of his life in intense military simulations, until finally being hired by S.H.E.I.L.D.

Basically I'm going to start off the RP at the beginning of the Arkham Knight plot. I know this isn't the main universe, but it's a dark story arc for Gotham I really do enjoy, and that's the direction I'd like to take this.

Weaknesses:

- His Healing Factor isn't all that amazing. It can heal injuries such as cuts, fractures and broken limbs (though the latter two may take two or so days) but it can't grow back amputated limps of heal entire organs on it's own.

- He can often get a bit cocky for his own good, and he isn't the most tactical nor shrewd of the bunch. McCarty's agenda is run, gun, shoot, repeat and very little else.

- He's prone to violent outbursts of anger or rage during battle, which can be both a help or a hinderance depending on who he's facing.

Personality Traits: Red Swallow is often regarded as the perfect image of a wayward warrior - silent, brutal and hardened. When it comes to his line of work, McCarty is cold and heartless, feeling no remorse or empathy for those he has to kill or hurt. If you ever live to cross him in some form or fashion, don't expect him to rest until he's finished hunting you down.

Residence: Gotham, currently. As a mercenary, he tends to travel often to accept a multitude of contracts.

Moral Alignment: Neutral Evil, occasionally Chaotic Good. McCartys moral pysche is fairly complicated.

Profession: Mercenary, though he was formerly a lowtime thug and a traditional criminal. 

Groups/Afflitations: The Suicide Squad. He's ran with them several times in the past.

Equipment: Twin Revolvers, a Double Barrel Shotgun and a Bowie Knife.

Suit/Outfit: Red Swallow emulates the appearance of the cowboys of the old west, wearing black clothes under a brown leather vest, gauntlets and boots, with a poncho around his shoulders and a mask covering the lower half of his face. His Stetson hat barely covers his dark blonde hair, and various bandoliers are wrapped around his waist, upper arms, and his hat. Holsters for his sidearms are strapped to his thighs.

Brief History (Optional): Born in the dome called "The World" XIX was one of many experimental mutants used to create new super soldiers. By the age of nineteen XIX underwent an excruciating surgery, replacing half of his brain with a computer. His new brain allowed him to control nanites in his bloodstream and on the battlefield. After his surgery XIX was separated from his family and trained for the rest of his life in intense military simulations, until finally being hired by S.H.E.I.L.D.
