The band rode silently through the woods, their passage announced only by the soft neighing of the horses and the clip-clop of hooves. The rearmost of the band clad in black armour with an avanite cross slung around his neck bears a standard depicting a white Lorraine's cross on a black field. As they round the corner they spot a band of ruffians with red eyes their heads covered with hoods. The leader of the band appears to be holding a knife to the throat of a young women. The bandits for some reason do not register the approach of the armoured men.

The band dismount from their horses each tapping one of the crosses that adorn their armour before moving fluidly towards the ruffians. The largest of the armoured men draws his hammer before tapping the woman's assailant on the shoulder. The thug turns "What do you want" he grunts. The hammer wielding man ignores him looking over his head at the woman. He points to his hammer and then to the woman cocking his head questioningly. She nods hurriedly clearly terrified. The hammer wielding man brings his weapon down annihilating the poorly armed criminal. The other armoured men silently spring into action drawing their weapons and making short work of the ruffian's companions as they attempt to flee.

The armoured men reach into their belts drawing forth vials filled with a syrupy white liquid. They open the jars and remove a small paintbrush from the side of the vial. Kneeling down they paint Lorraine's crosses over the hearts of the slain ruffians. The armoured man moves touching the cross on his right gauntlet to the cross over his breastplate. His companions kneel next to their respective ruffians touching the crosses on the backs of their gauntlets together. The man rises as he finishes his ritual turning to look at the rescued woman as she digs in her coin purse. "Some coin for your trouble" she mumbles still shaking in fear. The man shakes his head refusing the coin, he sheathes his hammer then points slowly to the cross adorning his chest. The men mount their horses then ride off leaving the woman standing confused on the forest road, amidst the falling leaves.
