It has been some time since the death of Laethis Izalith.

In this time the Maheral was given leave to the chamber of

contemplation. However in doing so the only one who could

fill the temporary void in the council was absent.

*

With the return of the Maheral we must also see the return

of a Sohaer. Both are required teachers in our society

and thus the void in our government must be amended.

Every day that passes without action is a day not spent

devoting yourselves to progress and health.

*

It is up to you to decide your next Sohaer. Step forward

with your nominations so this election can be on it's way.

NOMINATIONS AND RULES

The following are rules designed by your answers on a few important surveys passed out in the recent past. We will only scoff and snicker at the fools that failed to fill in their survey. Shame on you for being lax and ignorant.

  1. One must be over 50 years old to be a candidate.

  2. One must possess a minimum of 10 years residency ((25 hours on your high elf persona)).

  3. One must articulate a speech tailored to what you’ll actually offer as Sohaer.

  4. One must also include what field of study your regime will expand upon if elected.

  5. One must not use logical fallacies or irrelevant hostility in their speech.

  6. One may not be a convicted criminal.

Failure to follow these rules to the utmost degree will have your nomination disregarded for being a deviated publication of utter rubbish. Ahern ito nae’leh.

Silence settled throughout the citadel that shook the mali’thill to their cores. They understood that for good or for bad. For the great progression and the supposed corruption that Sohaer Laethis Izalith undertook, he was still mali’thill. The death of a fellow silver citizen was a knock against the realm. A true sin, we all understood this as we walked his casket to the ceremonial pyre. Medi’ir Jupiter was among those that personally carried the burden of the casket upon shoulder. Adorned in a black silk robe of contemplation, he walked on without a word. Only the stone faced exterior of his face could hide the extreme sorrow inside. Throughout the years Jupiter and Laethis had grown a fruitful tree of friendship. Laethis had become his sole confidant after years of marital turmoil. The only light at the end of the ever growing tunnel of resentment and depression Jupiter felt. Citizens may criticize the two for being too efficient in their respective systems, but even the most harshest of critics wept that day. Today they lament for Sohaer Laethis Izalith.

The casket in place and positions taken, Jupiter took to the stand to speak. After a choking moment, he found his prepared eulogy from within his robe.

“Venerated mali’thill of the Silver State Citadel. We’ve come together as one for the first time in many years. Although I must hold back true pain and anguish while I speak of our Sohaer, our leader and my friend. A crack of hope shines through my soul as I look at you all in-front of me. This is what he wanted. A united mali’aheral. Under one banner, one purpose again.

It was never meant to look as sour as it did at times. Our intentions were harmless until the perversion of power weighed heavy on us. It is no easy task to upkeep the Silver State by any means. No, tis a hardship I’d dare not wish upon even my greatest enemy. Yet, I can only say that the institution around him shaped how he conducted this nation. We cannot stand and solely blame our Dear Sohaer without taking some ourselves. The lies, murder, deceit and general conspirator’s chaotic nature of our people drove this regime to carry out tradition shattering moves in order to maintain a preserved state in the name of maehr’sae hiylun’ehya.

Yet now we stand at a point where we may right our wrongs. In the blazen end of one Sohaer, we seek another rise among us. I am uncertain of our future, but as long as we stand together that’s enough to sate me. Will a worthy Sohaer please stand up? Ahern ito nae’leh."

With that the pyre is lit and the end of Sohaer Laethis's reign culminates in a controlled fire.

Our city, once Silver and glorious was a grand monument, an ode to our extravagants. We once held knowledge and wisdom similarly important, never did we act without forethought. Alas such times are now behind us, and we are now met with adversity akin to Durion and his failed coup. Our Silvers walls are now decorated with falsity, corruption, and filth alike.

We are poisoned lliran, on our own free will we drank the goblet and willfully set in motion our systematic undoing. The platypus seemed endearing and kind, yet under its claw it bore the venom which it used to deteriorate our society. Once we were pure of mind, we acted rationally and logically. Once we were pure of blood, ensuring only those with High Elven mentality stepped foot in our city. Once we were great, but are no longer.

Before my long departure and before we came to these new lands, I served dutifully as your Sohaer. Never did I flippantly tread on our traditions under the guise as their sole follower, never did I bend our words willfully in an attempt to gain what I desired, and never should our Sohaer commit such molestation of our culture. I will not further scorn the platypus for vaguely kin he may be, his faults shine brightly enough for all to see - These errors were made, they must be undone in order to clean the grime from our Silver walls.

I will conclude with this lliran - We have strode far from our path, and now stand leaderless and dazed. We can turn away now, and once again stand stalwart with our gleaming Silver walls, mentality, and purity intact. As your Sohaer, I will be the teacher and guide which is required, I assure you of this.

Elwyn nods engagingly as Kalameet speaks, her lips curling to smile upon his nomination before she'd stride forward to the Podium as he'd steps back, the speech complete.

"Injustice has sunken its venomous claws into elcihi. Day by day it poisons elhaelun’or, enfeebling elcihi to a shadow of itself."

"Ignored by the children of Silver this venom in our society spread to infect our city more and more as each day passed. We’ve been weakened by a poison that has infiltrated our city. As the years passed it began to break away and crumble the ancient traditions of the Silver children, even beginning to collapse Elmali’aherals pursuit of elmaehr’sae hiylun’ehya."

"Even as I speak, a child of silver resides in the confines of a box to demonstrating to the mali’aheral of Haelun’or the affliction that has taken hold within our city; his belief that the fate of the Silver city and maehr’sae hiylun’ehya is more important than the fate of but one Silver Elf."

"As I speak, trial is withheld from the child that suffers for elcihil; the child that would remove the sickness that has befallen our city. I, Elwyn Izalith, Elmed'ir  of Haelun'or declare that if the trial of Taeleh Elibar’acal is withheld beyond four elven days from today then this Mali’thill will be acquitted of all charges."

"Any further attempt to withhold trial to ignore this Mali’thill’s nomination as Sohaer will not persist."

"Should the Pariran'tir deliver an innocent verdict, even after the Sohaer nominations are no longer accepted, Taeleh Elibar'acal's, the nomination that resulted in his imprisonment will be considered his nomination for this election."

"Children of Silver"
"The venom that poisons our city will not be permitted to persist."

Elwyn steps back from the podium becoming one of the many Mali'thill gathered.

Taeleh, having mysteriously evaded his prison, stands in the centre of the Grand Citadel, turning to each elf before him. The crowd is thinner than he would desire, but such would have to suffice for a large din might summon undesired attendees— those who do praise the virtue of the blade above the maehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

None the less, the elf did stand, his eyes flicking once more over the Children of Silver who gathered.

"It is indisputable fact that this Grand State of Silver does cycle between extremes. Between Blessed Progressive thought and vile regression to demagogic tendencies and the pity of the lesser. Between war and peace... and perhaps most pertinent to Haelun'or's current predicament; between fear and reason. State ye' who know who stands before you?

Some in the crowd did reply, albeit not with vigour or passion;

"Taeleh Elibar'acal"

"This council which sits in their chambers, plotting the course of Blessed Haelun'or stands without leader. The Sohaer slain by unknown assailants. And with each passing second this curious new Biumvirate continues to assert itself– attempting to detract from our glorious and ancient ways.

Taeleh pauses, clearing his throat, before continuing;

"Glance to this council, and glance to these Sillumir they so lead— do they truly embody the will of the Children of Silver? Or do they simply fuel the fear which perpetuates their uneasy dominion over the Silver Elves. Mali'aheral banished upon a whim and the stability of ages past thrown to ashes and replaced with only conformity out of fear. Does this reveal regret in the art of blade and bow? Does this reveal restraint in the protection of our kind with the cursed art of war? Nae, for our kind have slipped beyond our blessed Republican ways and into that of madness. The Elves of Silver must not be Silenced. The philosophies of Larihei must once again return to Blessed Haelun'or".

Taeleh pauses before stating plainly

"Once more one throws himself into the fray to become Elsohaer of Blessed Haelun'or"

Iatrilemar mutters a single question to himself, those in the immediate vicinity may hear him "Once more?"

With some reluctance, Zaniil rises to stand, shuffling over to the empty podium. Placing his feet upon it, he overlooks the crowd for a moment, clearing his throat before uttering his words.

A once great nation, I daresay we have been reduced to a state of feeble inactivity. Of those actions that have been taken in the past, we have only suffered greater tribulation. The Triumvirate have proven lacking in their thought for maehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

We gave our lives for the independence we so desperately thirst for, and yet where is our promised reward? I fear our impending separation from Oren will do nothing to improve elHaelun'or. For we will continue to live in a world in which we are of no consequence. The Triumvirate care not for we, the people. In the absence of elSohaer, they have abused the responsibility directed to them, withholding this election process in a play for power.

Are we too not as firmly a part of politics as any other? Then I ask this. Why are decisions not taken to a vote by the people? Those that comprise of the state elSohaer and elMedi'iran are sworn to work in the best interest of, are without a voice.

Zaniil paused, glancing at the crowd in a moment of contemplation.

Let us all have an equal say in maehr'sae hiylun'ehya. Let our voices be heard, and let not another decision be made without our careful thought and input. This is our state of Silver, and it is our duty as citizens to safeguard its purity. Let it be known that as Sohaer, I will not make a decision without first consulting the Children of Silver, for it is us that the Triumvirate work for. Despite what it may seem.

Silvos awaits until Zaniil is done, then continues to get onto the podium himself. He wears his usual stern face, and carries his staff in his right hand. He coughs briefly, then straightens his back to speak to the crowd clearly, inspiringly and galvanizingly.

Mali'aheral of elhaelun'or. Today, you are presented with a simple question: Where do You want this government to go? Do you want it to be completely ruled by you, the citizens as Zaniil is suggesting? Do you want it to rule you, and strenghten you as Taeleh will do? Or perhaps you would just like a government that works, like in the old days. The days of Lin'evaral. Of the Enclave. Even of Asulonian Haelun'or. Times in which we were ruled by great minds like Lucion Sullas and Dio Astoré.

I am here today to present to you, that option. I, Silvos'Avernan Sythaerin, nominate myself for Sohaer in the hopes of restoring the balance to our city by fully bringing us back to our roots, to purity, to the success we wanted when we had it, the success we need now that we have lost it. I will restore our city to a time of Silver, where citizens wake and languish reciting Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya.

I will fight to bring magic back into our city as a key component of our society. Let it be known that you don't need blades protecting you. You are the kind of Larihei, and you are strong. Mana flows through you that possesses strenght the SLMR could never offer you. Elokarir'indor and I have been working on setting up the college of Haelun'or. Classes will be held on all matter of subjects, including magic. Any teachers in the city may use the facilities we are offering to teach their students properly, and securely.

I will ensure the laboratories continue to be a safe location for your studies, so that you may continue to progress and develop your knowledge. You have already shown me great work in the last few years, and I'm sure together we can progress even more. For progress is the way of elmaehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

I will strive for success. And I will let nothing get in our way. Vote for progress. Vote for Sythaerin.

Silvos raises his staff into the air, its head releasing a wave of dark cyan aura into the air. Any magic users feel the wave going through them, invigorating them. He then sets it down, tapping it twice, and walks off of the podium. The sound of his silver feet echoes for a few seconds before fading into the hallways of the grand citadel.

Andria Ith’ael sighs lightly, shaking her head at the later speeches. Thus,  in an odd move, she then proceeds to take the podium and begin speaking:

“Though I am not intending on nominating myself for Sohaer, it is rather shameful to see the ignorance displayed by those that would nominate themselves for such a position of importance.

Zanill claims that we have yet to receive our promised reward, however is it not only foolish to attempt such without first determining how it will affect our kind, but also incompetent. I am unsure if many of our candidates have even considered the effect independance will have on our government or military? It is concerning that a Sohaer candidate would impatiently declare something as volatile as independence without thought to the repercussions.

Furthermore, neither any law nor reform have been changed or implemented since an unknown assailant brought about the death of Sohaer Laethis Izalith. The two Medi’iran have not abused their power as claimed.

I also question if he understands how a government works within Haelun’or. With the exception of referendums for the actual government system, most notably in early years of Anthos when our kind ratified the system created by Lucion Sullas, there has never been a time in which the people have been granted an opportunity to vote on legislation. However, we, as a people, are perfectly allowed to critique the system in place unlike what has been said.

Despite our superiority, we cannot best those who are inferior to us. Uruk only recently threatened us with war over a trivial matter. We must cautious with our actions in these times. Only a handful of individuals have shown themselves wise enough to address them as they truly are.

Thus I nominate Elwyn Izalith for the position of Sohaer, for she has proven her merit to hold such a position.”

Elwyn once more would appear to stand before the Mali'thill of Elhaelun'or.

“I had not thought to nominate myself for the position of Sohaer however it appears other Mali’thill had, and now I stand before you again.”

“To be candid, Taeleh Elibar’acal statement that the Grand State of Silver cycles between extremes was as indisputable as he claimed. We cycle between the Blessed Progressive thought and vile regression to demagogic tendencies and the pity of the inferior just as our government too cycles between once great nation Zaniil remembers and corruption.”

“The Triumvirate is too easily corrupted by candidates that simply nominate themselves for their own selfish desires, rather than for the sole desire of Elmali’aheral, elmaehr’sae hiylun’ehya. The progress under great minds such as Lucion Sullas and Dio Astoré becomes forgotten through the tyrants we’ve known under Uradirian rule. We, elmali’aheral, must recognise that each of these tyrants were elected by ourselves and we will elect them again.”

“Perhaps I am even just another of these autocrats.” She’d chortle, “Or perhaps history will remember me as another great mind.”

Elwyn glances among the Mali’thill gathered as a couple would chuckle as well before continuing, “The problem is, we simply do not know whether any of the candidates gathered will be another great mind or tyrant, except for oem Mali’thill that has already held the position. However a retired Sohaer will not always nominate themself for the position once more. In their stead, another tyrant perhaps will and become elected as Sohaer and thus begins anew the cycle whereby any maehr’sae we’ve accomplished is destroyed.”

“Where corruption resides, reform is required. I stand before you lliran to reform both the Triumvirate as well as the Silver Council. Contrary to the accusations of oem Mali’thill I have not abuse the responsibilities entrusted to me as Medi’ir and have not implement any new legislation in the absence of a Sohaer. Considering the opportunity for corrupt around the reformation of our government, any and all reform in regards to the government will only be implemented through a referendum among Elmali’aheral. I promise you this.”

“I will expand our emphasis on education within our society, rather than centre on just one field of study. I will establish the Institute of Elhaelun’or so that the education every Mali’thill will be able to avail of the education that they are entitled to. It’s actually quite humorous that we, a people that pride ourselves on our scholarly work have not established an education system within Haelun’or. I will ensure whether oem Mali’thill decides to study the arcane arts or our laws, that the institute will be available for them to do so. I will ensure that no Mali’ata will harbour themselves within the Triumvirate.

“Reform is required, lliran.”

Elwyn steps back from the podium once more, her speech complete before becoming just another the Mali’thill that crowd around the city centre.

Karinah would slowly make her steps to the podium in question, the very podium that every nominant prior used to address the crowd of faceless high elven citizens.

My dear kin,

Before us we have seen many interesting and exciting nominations, the very words they use to portray themselves here today are the very words that we must decide upon and it’s quite odd that some chose the words they did.

Growing up I was lucky enough to have a family member be my teacher, guide even and to this day I know that he hasn’t abandoned me. The true sign of a teacher and a guide, yet one proclaims himself to be our teacher and guide if needed but did so easily abandon us, one that claims to see the poison in our veins but does not see how he allowed its entrance by opening up the wound.

Karinah would let the silence stir a moment before moving on.

Equality, the rights to one’s own decisions and the opportunity to have weight in their words. To proclaim that one will hold it to the people’s position holds the candle, lit on both ends. It may give off a sign of wishing to be with one's people yet it also shows an unwillingness to make executive decisions. We need not a sohaer that requires our permission to lead but one that does so.

Karinah would let it go silent a moment once more, before saying.

Thus I nominate myself for sohaer.

Before leaving the stage Karinah would then speak swiftly.

I also nominate elokarir'indor for Sohaer.

"It was to my great surprise to awake this morning to find my fellow mali'thill beckon my name to take Sohaer once more. To this I say, ahern ito nae'leh. I will run in this election not for myself, but for you, the people.

There is a tacit assumption that the point of gaining power is to take advantage of it and line one's pocket and distribute it among friends and family. This is a rotten ideal and has to stop.

Reform delayed is revolution begun. If you the people bestow upon me the right to act as Head of State, I will focus on bringing about institutions for the people by the people. It is not right nor just that we're all in this for ourselves when in actuality we're in this together. This State is nothing without the people and the people are nothing without the State. Civil service is the life-force of our continuation.

Blood and turmoil take root with resistance to change. Whether we advance peacefully and quickly on a path of progress or succumb to injustice and anarchy is up to you. Reform delayed is revolution begun!

I, Okarir'indor Lelien Lazul have been shaped by the great leaders of our past in all fields of study. I have served faithfully as your longest standing vanguard of knowledge on the council. Choose me not because of popularity, but for merit. As your Head of State, I will not stop until each citizen is thoroughly and healthily engaged with elmaehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

On you it depends. There will be a future."
