A Thesis on Dark Magic

Humanity has on many occasions been held at the behest of the corruption and plague that dark magic brings to the lands granted to us by our Lord. On one such occasion the Sohaer, Kalenz Uradir, forfeited his lands to Iblees while in a war with man and orc. In an attempt to slay the mighty warriors of Oren and Krughanistan this high elf made a deal with a being which has brought great destruction to our race. Although this would eventually backfire and cause the destruction of the high elven city there were still many men lost in the battle. When they returned victorious it was not joyous for all as many wives were left husbandless and children left fatherless. This was not the only race to partake in allying with the undead but also orcs. The Kaxil clan joined in league with the undead and brought destructions to the human lands of Galahar.Another forgotten betrayal by elf was when the necromancers took base in the forests of the wood elves. These dark creatures stalked the woods often murdering, capturing, and torturing those who traveled through the forest. Man attempted many times to slay these beasts and take their lands but once again with victory comes sacrifice.

Have it be the undead, necromancers, or other dark beings it is obvious that these magics were created for one reason; for the destruction of man. It is known through the scriptures that the other races were the first to fall to the fierce power that is Iblees and on many occasions fell to the dark creatures that lurk the lands. But, we may not sit here and wait as it is our duty as those chosen by God to lead the other races from their darkness. It is our job as the men of God to protect our people and spread our Lord’s will. We should prepare ourselves for the future in case another darkness arises and continue to rid the land of its current perpetrators. We as members of the church should spread this word and do the will of God which is to purge the lands of the plague that dark magic brings. We should not only do this for ourselves and our people but for the other races who we continue to live in with harmony and tranquility. The best way to help these other races is to lead as an example and help them destroy the dark beings that might threaten their lands. All of us have given our lives to the Lord and in order to help his people we must spread this knowledge and not allow the new generations to forget the past.

So the next question is how can we do this? First we must educate; write down past events and spread this knowledge to the people and other races. Second we must act; do not allow those who cower in darkness to live in seclusion and gain power just like the undead did prior to their return. Finally we must lead; not only should we help the other races but we should lead as an example who not only stands against dark forces but is prepared for whatever else might come our way.

Ouity shakes his head as he reads, the ancient man's brow furrowing. He leans back in his chair which creaks softly beneath his weight.

"Nae, for it was only Krug who denied the temptations of Iblees." He murmurs, running his hand across a grizzled gray beard. "This one does not remember, it has been so very long... but the greatest threat to befall Galahar was of Human nature... a civil war, yes. Yes, I remember. The Kingdom split."

The Druid nods to himself, satiated and allows the parchment to drop from his aged hands to the floor. "An interesting fiction." He muses to the cold fireplace before him, closing his eyes for a doze. "But fiction nonetheless."

"Mm-hmm." She nods reading the paper, placing it back down on the counter in front of her a slight chuckle escapes her. "Same talk all the time about how we need to stand up to these dark magi, but yet I've seen nothing done each time something like this written" Kypris mumbles to herself, sliding the paper into the garbage bin next to her counter.

Sends a missive to the young Silverblade.

"Fine work on your thesis good Acolyte. If your willing, the Inquisitorial Tribunal often seeks out and prosecutes the figures of which you describe. I would recommend signing onto their force if such things interest you."
