“Haria”

The bells of Al-Wakhrah ring loud and long, echoing throughout the hot deserts of Khalestine throughout the realm of Vandoria. The bells signaled something of importance, a speech is to be made... But by whom? The streets begin to bustle with activity and numbers, as people begin to crowd around the front of Al-Wakhrah’s palace, its jubilant walls serving as a testament of courage to all that came. Trade began to flourish immensely within the bazaar as people throughout the realm of  Vandoria had decided to sell or buy wares as they awaited a speech. The day is new as the weather is rather beautiful for the heat most of Khalestine has to endure.

Soon enough, an old man with his plain robes begins to walk across the walkway of the upper portion of the palace -- his thick, grey beard which covered his weathered face, indicated he was, in fact, a Qali with decades of wisdom.

This was none other than Faiz Kharadeen, the Caliph of Khalestine.

The congregation below picked up in volume when the ruler stepped over to a balcony where all could see. Striding beside him was the middle-aged Sultan with a groomed goatee, Arlen, who was clad in a velvet suit of armour. His gloved hands were extended before him and holding a sheathed saber whose sharp edge curved backwards slightly. Behind the two came a few Alwahadat Alwaqi guardsmen and soldiers. Many Kharadeen family members, as well as Vandorian officials walk behind the group as well, soon setting themselves to stand directly behind Faiz and Arlen as they stand near the edge of the balcony, to overlook the crowd. Faiz lifts his hands up in the air, to signal silence amongst the crowd as he speaks as loud as he can

"My brothers and sisters! Please, lend me your ears for this is important!

The crowd begins to swell down in volume, soon enough becoming somewhat silent. Faiz Kharadeen lowers his hands as he continues to speak once more.

"My people, I call you all here today to speak my words upon you. It is time for a change within Khalestine, a change long overdue. Today, I announce with joy and pride the ascension of a new Caliph of Khalestine, Arlen Kharadeen! I have served you all long, for almost most of my life now. It has come to the point where I am now too old to lead and make proper decisions to lead you all to prosperity. I apologize for this, but even then I will not give up on our nation! I will continue to serve all of you peacefully and humbly as the Imam of Khalestine and aid in whatever else I can. But, know that Arlen Kharadeen is now the Caliph and his word is now law. It is Arlen who is my successor, chosen by Allah! May Allah guide the Caliph and may Allah guide our people to greatness!"

The crowd shouts out in happiness as the new Caliph, Arlen Kharadeen, steps forward, a stoic face overlooking the crowd. He lifted the sheathed scimitar up in one hand and thrusted it out towards the sky as his lips curled into a composed simper. Faiz smiling in return watches, stepping back to let Arlen speak.

“Over several decades ago, during an era when gallantry and legends were cultivated, war plagued the lands. Fear gripped every man and woman that lived during those times, but each face retained its mask of bravery for this was a time when honor meant much more than life itself.” Arlen reaches up with his free hand, grabbing his sword’s hilt before unsheathing it slowly, revealing the glistening steel which reflected the sunlight. He glances over to his elderly father, smiling faintly.

“Though we may bend, we do not break.”

Lemik Rextiureus would stand in the caliphate square and clap for the new caliph fanatically. A tear would appear in his eye for he had come to respect and love the caliph. "Subhan-Allah!" Lemik would shout out in celebration, however he would always remember Faiz Kharadeen.

As Fakhri Kharadeen stood and watched his grandfather pass over the title of Caliph to his father, his shoulders square and his chest swells with pride. He stood with his mothers, sisters, and the other sons of Khalestine as Allah chose his new ruler for His people.

"Though we may bend, we do not break," whispers the young emir.

A young, black furred kharajyr stood amongst the crowd, bowing his head at the now past caliph, who had aided his race more then all others.

"Sa'vi, Faiz. Yah did aws a great service." Ja'Zar murmured the words under his breath, before he then turned, returning to the Kharajyr island of Jazira

Uncle Siris grins a toothy grin as he feels Allah's embrace, nodding as he watches his Great Nephew rise to the glory of his father; perhaps one day Faiz could also live in the seven skies with Uncle Siris.
