The Galaxy is in tatters. On the verge of an age of peace and prosperity, the relaxing Republic is forced into war. Still reeling from the wars of Revan and Malak, and later Malak alone as well as upstart Sith, the Republic had thought itself secure, but too late…

 

Nothing could compare to what was next. Not the Star Forge, not entire planets scraped bare of life, nor Sith with power so great they near annihilated the Jedi. These things were all precursors to the truth. In the edges of charged space, the Sith Empire, one of last survivors of the end of the true Sith Empire has revealed his hand. His Reconstituted Sith Empire lays waste to Republic worlds.

 

Newly trained Jedi are put to the test against masters of the dark side. Republic troopers face off against heavily armed and disciplined soldiers with vast machines of war to support them. While the Republic withered, the Sith had been gathering their strength, and now they would have their revenge…

Welcome to a Galaxy Divided! In this forum roleplay, you will be taking the reigns of a large group or planet aligned to some sort of faction during the Old Republic Era (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Old_Republic_era), specifically the early years of the Great Galactic War (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Galactic_War). This can be an imperial fleet to a Czerka controlled planet to an independent world.

 

Whatever you choose, you are subject to your overarching factions limitations and forced to play their political games.

 

For the intents of this Roleplay, one does not control a large faction, rather they are a player inside of it, at least in the beginning.

 

As a Republic player, you seek to gain favor in the Senate and rise in influence to gear yourself power. The main way to gain this influence is generous donations of troops and materials for the war effort or by assisting fellow Senators. Your goal may be to get your own Senator to the seat of Supreme Chancellor. However, you will never fully control the Senator, he will do all but the most outrageous of requests. If he is to be Chancellor, think of it being your loyal friend being president. He will help you, but he is the real power holder of the Senate. At least in theory… Jedi players usually command a large army and have the chance to become a Jedi Master and a large decider of the future of the Republic and the Jedi themselves.

 

The Sith Empire is effectively run by the Dark Council, a ruling body of Sith Lords. This is due to the Emperor being very distanced from his own Empire, preferring to go about his own devices. As a potentially powerful figure in the Empire one must be careful, especially if they are a Sith themselves. Playing a Sith means one can in fact be a Dark Council member with correct moves. Planetary governors (Moffs) have the chance to become part of the Grand Moff’s Council, a non-force using equivalent to the Dark Council, but inferior to it.

 

For other choices like independent Mandalorians for example, your NPC faction is that of your people and the government. They will make demands and such and you must please them. A Mandalorian leader might rally a small crusade or seek to become Mandalore himself.

 

Megacorporations like Czerka are similar to a Sith or Republic choice. You are an Overseer of a Czerka controlled planet such as Kashyyyk and must please the Corporate body with tithes and income, while defending your planetary gains from pirates, bandits, and scum. Your main source of troops is either expensive and skilled mercenaries or cheap unskilled security forces.

@Tyras MckayI believe you can start as anything, though I would imagine the thread owner wants you to keep it reasonable at the start so there isn't one person that's superpowerful and goes around roflstomping everyone else.

Also, can we sort of limit how powerful people can be when they start out? No offense to you, funny, but to be considered a supreme lightsaber dualist seems a little farfetched for someone that's only 20. Vader and Windu would maybe be the closest things to masters which we see, but Vader was about mid 30s and Windu was in his late 50s.
