Bio

Although he did not need to, James spent his life on the streets of Felsen with his older step-brother, Lucas. Life was often hard, but only because they made it hard. At home, the boys had a loving mother and a mysterious, mostly absent father. With his brother, James learned to make his own bread, and to take it too. The brothers had spent life learning things on their own, getting into fights, and harassing those they could. Eventually they had joined a street gang, with James being the youngest at only age 7. With them, James and Lucas grew to be more violent with their crimes, even performing murders at some point. The brothers had both gained some proficiency in small weapons and hand-to-hand combat, although they had often been attacked and beaten by other people on the streets. One night, James had been out with the gang, where he was pushed and encouraged to mug what seemed to be a crippled man. Things came to worse, which ended up with James stabbing and killing what turned out to be an old woman. He had begun to feel deep remorse for his crimes, even trying to leave the gang which got him stabbed and nearly beaten to death.

At the age of 10, James had been taught to read by his father, eventually growing not only a passion for reading, but knowledge in general. By the time he was 14, he had spent most of his time at home, reading or such, having left the gang at this point. His brother, however, remained at large, growing a distance between the once close brothers. They both had come to different views on their father, with James always being excited to see him come home on dark nights, whilst Lucas had begun to take a distaste for his father, seeing him as a scumbag who cared not for his family. This grew tension between them.

One night, James had been locked away in his bedroom, doing God knows what, before a sudden shatter and scream came to his ears. What did he do? He waited. He waited for the screaming to stop, listening deeply to the lamentations of his mother as it was all he could hear. Then it stopped. After a while, James had gone downstairs to find the mutilated corpse of his mother, beaten and murdered. His brother was nowhere to be found, but his father lay against a wall, knife in his gut, unresponsive.

Since then, James spent his time alone, wandering. He'd refused to turn back to old ways, working as a tinker in a small shop which sold antiques, trinkets, and the like. At the age of 18, he had left to strike out on his own to find a new life.
