Broken Borders

 

It is November First, 1990, and the world has gone to hell.

 

Word in Europe is that somewhere in Old Italia, in the City of Roma, the Pontiff Maximus of the Catholic Faith has ordered the mass conscription of boys ages 14 to 36 for what is dubbed the Crusader Host, and that large fortifications are being made through the Holy See.

 

In North America, toward the Mexican-Texan old border, a series of large gang wars have erupted, leaving many of the marauder gangs weak and disorganized. An organization calling itself the Regulators has arisen with the intention of eliminating these gangs and bringing law to the South West.

 

Meanwhile, in the Canadian Wilds, near Albany, things have stayed quiet as they were always meant to. It's too cold for most in the winter, and too hot in the summer. Those that live there are a rare breed.

 

In Asia, word of an individual known as Shi Huangdi is supposedly creating a great Empire, dubbing it simply "the Empire."

 

The world has gone to hell, make something of it.

4th Reich

 

It was November 1st, 1990. The people of Berlin hard at work in the fields and few factories that made up the small civilization of 3,000 people. Most were in town attending church, including the Wulf Gehring whom was named Kaiser of this fledgling nation.

Catholic Bishop ended his prayer and the masses paid full attention forward.

Bishop Tristan spoke loudly but calmly "My fellow brothers and sisters, these past years have been the hardest and most trialing since the horrid events of 1945. Our fearless and wise leader wishes to speak before you all in remembrance of such events. And what he plans for our futures." The Bishop moves away from the podium and Gehring makes his way to the podium.
Gehring stands before the masses taking in a deep breath. He was old, a veteran of World War 2. He had fought in nearly all fronts, including the eastern front where he saw the worst of the fighting. He had only just reached the age of 71, his age showed physically but not mentally.
He took a last silent moment before beginning
"Sons! And Daughters!..Of the Fatherland. We have endured these last 45 years. Prospered and lived in relative peace. We've organized a great and respected government, as well as a proud and tough new generation of young Germans" He looks to the younger members of the audience. "It is with you..the next generation that will lead the fatherland to its rightful strength as it was in the old world!" he takes a moment "The Raiders and Marauders we've held at bay for years, are becoming bolder and more daring. But the worst...the worst of them all, our corrupted brethren..the ones who follow the ways of Adolf and his Nazis threaten our very lives!...We must prepare, expand, and Secure ourselves!.." he takes a pause as he coughs into a handkerchief seeing a small amount of blood, he simply wipes his mouth and pockets it taking no notice of it. "I have proudly led our people these many years..trained and watched young boys grow into true hardened German soldiers worthy of defending our home. But no longer can we remain on the defensive..and remain Isolated in our town. I am announcing today, with the blessings of our holy father, my resignation which will be complete in these next final years. I tell you this, because it is time for a new Kaiser, one with the energy and heart to lead us into the unknown. Until my resignation date has come..I will be putting into place several new policies and orders for our Nation. We will expand our territory. Attempt to contact other sons and daughters of the fatherland to our great city...and prepare our defenders to lead the offensive against stagnation." he takes a deep breath before bellowing the next words as they echo within the crowd "Long live the 4th Holy Reich!....Long Live The Fatherland!" The crowd cheers and howls

In the following days, production returns to its norm. Kaiser Wulf Gehring once again tours Berlins storage district looking over ancient equipment and vehicles that had been recovered.
German Pilot "Hail Kaiser!" he salutes and his engineers snap to attention, Gerhing raises a hand "Calm down son.." he speaks "I have a mission for you." The pilot looks to the others before turning back to Gehring "For..us sir?" Gehring nods "I am well aware that oil and fuel is scarce and in low supply..but I am authorizing its use for you and the few pilots we have to take what we have and scout the surrounding countryside for possible threats or possible people to contact...Get to it Pilot!" he shouts with a smile, the men jump to work as they bring out 4 planes, it was all they could salvage and keep maintained, the other few aircraft available were for war and required too much for them to maintain properly.

In the training fields and HQ of the Reich's 1st and only Battalion men young and old trained. Due to the government being strictly under military control, not counting the Bishop's ceremonial position the Army has always held a close place in the Nation's heart. 750 Germans bore the uniform's of the old war, but were armed with swords and bayonets. Only a select few were armed with firearms, most of the old war firearms were kept in storage being as only a small cache was recovered or kept maintained. Most civilians owned homemade or inherited firearms, but they were not for military use.
The Army was organized as follows
1st Battalion (Entire Army) which is made of from 5 Companies, 1st Company which was entirely sword based infantry, 2nd Company which consists of sword based infantry with supporting German cavalry armed with swords and lances, 3rd & 4th Company which strictly consisted of Dragoon style cavalry armed with swords, and last was 5th Company, a bulk base of sword based infantry with supporting cavalry similar to 2nd but contained a two small squads of German Infiltrators trained with Gewehr 38's which are designed for eliminating specific threats in the enemy lines both on the front and within. I.E Officers, supply convoys.

2. Using some of what little fuel is available, 4 Fieseler Fi 156 unarmed Spotter aircraft will fly in pairs, Spotter team 1 designated to scan North/East, Spotter Team 2 designated to scan South/West. (MOD PLZ)
3. All companies active in patrol and border securing operations, as is standard (On standby)
4. Berlin begins to expand farms and new land in preparation for expanding its population, time for completion unknown. (Mod PLZ)

Swiss Confederation

 

In the old town of Berne near the mountains and winding rivers the sounds of construction fills the air as the population of 3000 men, women and children work to rebuild what was left behind after the world crumbled into chaos, old factories being put back into operation and mines being made functional again for the gathering of coal and other natural resources that may fill the large mountains while old houses and apartments are refurbished to house the small populous. The new ruling Empress named Katherine Hazberg with her military advisers uses their currently limited oil resources to move their two small light tanks to more strategic positions and small defend-able foundations are built around the two tanks with crews manning them while patrols move around the small town nightly armed with an assortment of bows and arrows and swordsmen. Farms are also gradually created on the fertile land scattered around the mountains and plains around the town while stables are also set up with horses starting to be bred and horse men mounted up before getting sent off in all directions in small battalions to scout the land previously belonging to old Switzerland.

~Summary~

- Factories are brought back into working order along with farms.

- Two light Vickers Carden-Loyd tanks set up in strategic positions around the growing town using limited amount of the ammo scavenged from the town and the tanks themselves.

- Small horse battalions are set out in all directions to scout the old Swiss lands.

Chancellors Present: The High Chancellor and Speaker, the Intelligence Director, the Capital Enforcer, the [REDACTED], the Head of Acquisition, and the Chief Practitioner.

"[High Chancellor Oreilious speaking] The Grand Engineer will not be joining us for this conference... As instructed, he is directing site pre-construction along the Saguenay River peninsula, until proper construction of the fortress can commence." Pause, "As I'm sure you've been informed, [REDACTED], he has been issued sixty percent of available fuel for any special equipment he may require for construction of the fortress." Pause, "Additionally... Intelligence Director, it is of utmost cruciality that the schematics for a functioning long-range transmitter and receiver is submitted to the Grand Engineer immediately, and a list of required resources be submit-" The Head of Acquisition interjects, "[Head of Acquisition speaking] Submitted to me." Pause, the High Chancellor passes a glance between the Intelligence Director and the Head of Acquisition before returning his gaze to the Intelligence Director and nodding reassuringly, "[High Chancellor Oreilious speaking] Correct." Pause, "Additionally, ensure that research of potential alternative fuels resumes... I don't believe I need to explain why..." Pause, "Chief Practitioner, for the time being, your assistance is not of severe importance, though do continue your efforts in finding additional suitable medical professionals. Also, collaboration with the Intelligence Director may be beneficial if you desire to resume your research." Pause, "[Chief Practitioner speaking] I will use this time instead to recuperate from the exhausting rush of this past month." Pause, "[High Chancellor Oreilious speaking] That is reasonable... Do ensure you're well rested for when your services are required." Pause, "Capital Enforcer, the Prime Informant has notified me that Ottawa is a reasonable candidate for your inspection. Meet with him for any additional information, then fashion together an armed team, and coupled together with the Intelligence Director's collaboration, send an away party to inspect locations of interest within the city... Capital buildings, factories, etcetera. I suggest collaborating with the Head of Acquisition for appraisal of potential findings." Pause, "[REDACTED], consider providing the Capital Enforcer's party access to fuel reserves."

Istuv Tokarev paces back and forth in the main office of the old weapons factory, Turned Government Building/Living quarters for his own family looking out the window at the town that's built up around it over the years. His advisors and the peoples voice had brought him there reports. His Military Advisor standing near the door "30 Old war weapons.... Only 30 that's all that was left in this entire place?" "Yes Sir." the advisor would reply standing ready for whatever may come "And our people have only managed to keep or make 200 guns of there own..." He would sigh "Bring the People that own the guns and train them, Give the others Swords and teach them as best we can." The advisor would leave to begin his orders

As Bastet walked into the council room, deep in Montaza Palace, the council members were deep in debate, trying to divide resources. Each member of the council was attempting to secure the largest number of resources as they could. It was clear that each member cared more for their personal power, than the group they were meant to govern. When she entered the room, each member glanced her way, before going back to the argument. As she walked to her seat, with a small group of her guards following closely, the argument grew quieter, and quieter, knowing that any argument they made with her in the room was ultimately pointless. As she sat down, and her guards moved into position around the room, making sure to keep a close watch on the council members, in case any of them tried anything.

"So, dear council members, shall this meeting officially begin?"

As members nodded, or mumbled their assent, Bastet smiled, and clapped her hands together. "Good. So, let's start with reports, from those who have actually done anything. Let's see... Foods, what about you? Any news?"

As Foods stands up, and clear his throat, he picks up his report and beings reading, mentioning that farms were beginning to be planted, and hunters were being sent out to try and collect what food they could.

"Well, that's good to hear. Blocks, what about you?"

Blocks sighs, and stands. He proceeds to give a report about having finished repairs, on the Citadel, at which Chief nods his thanks, and Montaza Palace, as every member of the council murmurs their approval.

Bastet clears her throat as Blocks sits down, and looks to Chief. "So, Chief, how goes securing the Alexandria's borders?"

The Chief stands and nods, giving a report of how he managed to secure Alexandria from the various raiders who had been staying there.

Bastet yawns, and nods. "Alright, anyone else wanna give a report? No? Merchant, we're still able to fund things, yeah?"

Merchant nods, and Bastet turns to Person. "The people aren't gonna rebel against us suddenly, right, Person?"

Person confirms these, and suggests that once the city is more established, they hold some form of festival.

Bastet nods, and stands. "Alright people, with that we should be good. Everyone, handle your ****."

 

ACTIONS

1. Chief moves the Military (570 Soldiers, 200 Khopesh, 200 Machete, 150 Civilian Guns, 5 Lee-Enfields, 10 Bren Guns, 5 Vickers MG) in the Citadel (Citadel of Qaitbay)

2. Foods begins organizing Farms, in the various parks around Alexandria.

Moderator Actions

 

• Some wandering groups begin to slowly enter Berlin
• Berlin uses the last of its fuel for the planes scouting mission, revealing Berlin is surrounded by nothingness, and raiders. Groups of bandits block the road, stopping most people from getting close. The scout also visibly alerted the raiders, who now seem to be moving to Berlin...
• Berlin's radio broadcasts seem to almost make contact with... Something, but the range is too far off.
• Settlers from the Berlin proper begin to start cultivating land close to the city, but fear going too far because of Bandits

 

• The land directly around Bern is mostly abandoned, people quickly fled the area or went into Bern.
• Bandits litter the various burnt out villages and and caves, attacking caravans and travelers, or enacting harsh tolls
• The Swiss Confederation makes brief contact with something, the sounds of screaming, bloodcurdling scream, before the radio operator cut the connection and quit on the spot, his report set before his overseer's desk.

 

• Fort Sanctuary is estimated to be complete in a year and a half (6 Pages, on Page 7)

Istuv's angry voice would carry several feet beyond the closed door "Sir without proper intelligence we can't reasonably gauge there strength.." Istuv sighs "Fine but have a patrol of 50 Solders go through the farms every hour until this problem is dealt with." "Yes Sir!" the Advisers would leave quickly going about there tasks except the Adviser for development who would lay an SVT-40 rifle on the table along with some ammo "We must learn to build more of these, Sir." Istuv nods "Indeed... Get it done." the adviser nods and walks out with the rifle and ammunition

Upon the scout planes return they are properly stored before being shut off and left alone as they no longer have any fuel left. The scouts report to Gehring and his Officers immediately within the central building. It was once the Nazi Party's HQ but was redone and re-banner-ed with the new 4th Reich colors.

 

Gehring and his Officers looked at the reports

Gehring took a deep breath "It seems we are the only civilized people left anywhere near here.." He sets the report on the table as his 2nd picks it up "Kaiser, our soldiers report groups of people flocking to our city, however between Patrol and the Spotter's reports we can confirm that Raiders are gathering in mass. They may attempt to attack-"

Gehring stands up and speaks loud and clear "We will not give them that chance General Preiszner..I intend to strike them before they come to us. We've been on the defensive for all our lives. Its time we give the people a reason to know that this Nation, however small it may has the capacity and will to kick their ass for a change." he takes a moment "Rally all companies and prepare for mobilization."

General Hans Preiszner snaps a solid salute to his Kaiser, of which is returned as he dismisses himself out of the room to the Radio Operator

"Send a message to all soldiers of the 4th Reich, All command are to standby immediately for deployment. Our City and its people are at risk and an organized Raider attack is imminent.."

 

 

All 750 Soldiers gather at their respective outposts on the edge's of their own territory for their briefing.

Information from the Spotter's reports give as much detail to each Company's officer as they could provide, so that a strategy could be made.

 

Each Company 1st through 4th would engage Raider and Bandit forces on all four sides of the Borders, while 5th Company remained deeper within Berlin Territory as an inner defense should Raider forces slip past the initial assault.

Radio Operators are ordered to put attempted communication aside and clear all radio frequencies so that Headquarters can coordinate and receive intel from their forces.

 

A curfew is put in place to keep civilians within the protective boundary of which 5th Company is stationed to lower the chance for non-military casualties. 5th Company also deploys all firearms within storage, MG-42 emplacements are spread through out the city along with sub-machine gun & rifle teams as support (MOD PLZ)

Eight or so squads of our most effective conducting the assault, the goal of the operation to eliminate all raider forces in the encampment." The Capital Enforcer pauses, awaiting response, "[High Chancellor Oreilious speaking] What do you believe would be the best course of action, Prime Informant?" The High Chancellor pauses, awaiting response, "[Prime Informant speaking] I believe this operation would best be handled by my division." Silence falls over the meeting. Seventeen seconds later, "[High Chancellor Oreilious speaking] Capital Enforcer, begin unit preparation for the assault. Do not engage until I instruct you to do so." He pauses, "Prime Informant, organize with [REDACTED] and commence your operation once ready."

  • Extraction instructions: The operation will end after six hours, post travel to the raider encampment. Yusuf, Caliph of Islam, Sheik of Ashkelon and Master of the Sword of the Prophet, Keeper of the Shield of the Prophet, Lord of the Lance of the Prophet.

 

 

A Census

 

The newly-made Caliph Yusuf was quick to cement his rule. His first move, predictably, was to see what he was actually ruling. The results were thus:-

 

Military-Numbering 621 (including himself) the Caliph’s army is in good shape. Nestled firmly in the ruins of the old Crusader fortress, he found they were equipped with: 10 Gewehr 98’s, 3 SMLE 303s, 1 2-inch light mortar, 1 PIAT, 2 vickers HMGs and 1 bren gun. These 18 men equipped with good firearms are known as the ‘Sword of the Prophet’ and were the elite of the army, focusing on offensive firepower.  A further 60 are known as ‘Shields of the Prophet’ and have makeshift firearms, serving as a defensive force for the old town, but also quite often playing an offensive role. The Sword can deploy mounted atop horses or dismounted, whatever was needed. These were the best forces the Caliph can field and are mobile, well-disciplined and well-equipped.

 

The rest are the ‘Lance of the Prophet’, and equipped with melee and archaic missile weapons. Around one quarter of the Lance are camel cavalry. These troops are all fanatical, and their biggest advantage is their ability to withstand fire that would wither other forces, and their ferocity in battle. However, their melee troops often lack discipline and rush into near suicidal attacks, ignoring orders from their commanders or even the Caliph himself. They are also driven by a need for loot; they will stand in battle, but desertion rates can be high if this need for loot is not satisfied. They also wear traditional and ceremonial dress, often unsuited for warfare. The army are all Sunni Muslim males.

 

 

The City of Ashkelon-This ancient city is controlled by the Caliph’s forces, however only a small section near the ‘Old City’ has been inhabited by the small population of 3,000. Building on ancient and more recent foundations, the people of the city can quickly establish a prosperous settlement, but at present there is little surplus. In any case, the settlement is prosperous enough so ensure a decent standard of living, attracting foreign migrants, and also sustaining a steady population growth. The land is very fertile despite the wasteland created in ‘45, even enough for basic agriculture.

 

 

The Populace-The population is roughly 3,000. It is 48% Sunni Muslim (Mostly descendants of migrants from Syria, Egypt and Iraq) and 52% Levantine Christian. The Christians do not pay the Jizya in silver, as they did in the time of the Prophet Mohammed, but instead pay it in supplies and labour. The result is that the Caliph has a steady income. The Christians are allowed a tiny chapel to worship in, which is in terrible repair. They are forbidden from repairing it and are often treated poorly by the Sunni population, forbidden to own weapons or even ride horses. The Caliphate has no slaves...At the moment.

 

A New Demand

Development of Ashkelon

 

Yusuf had given a simple offer to the Christians. Aid him in his project, and he would count that as payment of their Jizya. This created a large labour force which he could use for his ambitions. ‘God’s wisdom is revealed through the prudence of his Prophet’s revelations!” He exclaimed, his fiery zeal ever about him; his eyes alight with the flame of faith. His father had taught him well.

 

The Christians began work on his new projects immediately. Using stone from many of the ruins of the old city, he began works to rebuild the medieval fortress not in the style of the Franks but that of the Muslims.

 

He also began redeveloping ruined mosques and planned to build one of his own. This mosque, he foresaw, would be a very grand building indeed, and Inshallah it would be not too expensive and time-consuming.

Swiss Confederacy

 

Following the short radio communication, the Empress orders for where ever that communication had come from to be investigated but also be put under strict 'no go' zone as the blood curdling screams over the radio are not that great for the populous, Meanwhile the population continues to work on making Bern a stable home with farms and the very slowly working factories while mining is also a major part of the town. The Military begins to mobilize as horse riders armored to the teeth with an assortment of bows, hand-me down rifles and pistols or other gathered weaponry from the town start banding together in large battalions and begin to hunt down the bandit's ruthlessly, putting their heads on pikes near known bandit hide outs with the word's such as 'Punishment' or just simply bandit. Meanwhile the troops staying and guarding the steadily growing town begin to build a new section of the run down town into their military wing for training, starting to work on a more disciplined army.

New Texas Republic

President Watson looked out upon his beautiful settlement, a bustling group of people below his office were trading in the market. It made him smile. Human cooperation was something that made him happy, but he knew work had to be done to make that possible. More death would have to ensue, before the ultimate goal of prosperity could be achieved. 

 

A group of twelve people were gathered in the meeting room, these twelve were hand selected by Watson. Six shooters and six spotters, the hit squad of the Republic, these twelve were the New Texas Rangers. During combat these would be the primary scouts and they would mark key personal within the advancing enemy army. All twelve went under rigorous training, in hand-to-hand combat, all different types of melee weapons, bows, and guns. They were also trained to be loyal, loyal to death. They were essentially brainwashed. Deadly and brainwashed could only go in Watson's favor. 

 

In the military, they had three regiments. cavalry was very few and far between because of where most fighting would take place in the surrounding area of Houston is mostly inner city. One would consist of the mostly spear and sword units that would be the frontline of the Republic. The second would consist of a mix of archers and swordsmen, they would serve as a skirmisher type regiment. Harassing the enemy to lead them down certain paths that would contain a larger regiment and ambush area. The third would be a defensive regiment, containing archers, swordsmen, engineers, and marksmen.

Fishing boats begin to launch from the port that is local within their colony. They look to bring in another food supply outside of crops and canned food. Scavenging units are sent out to local area stores looking for guns/gas/oil/more radio equipment. 

 

The Rangers are sent to scout out local areas, and report back finding. They are order strictly not to engage, just find and report. Only to engage if they are engaged upon.

Ara Zakaryan sat in his home, overlooking his kingdom and pondered his people's situation. Due to the USSR's anti-gun laws and the fact most soldiers were gone fighting the Nazis when the world plummeted into darkness meant there were very few guns throughout the land not counting the fact ammunition had been used up as time went by and guns with ruined parts were difficult to find replacements for. Because of this, most of the Kingdom of Armenia's soldiers used older weapons. However, like his father, Ara also realized that a military was only of some importance at this time since there were no major factions to challenge the Kingdom of Armenia.

 

By using weapons forged years ago under his father reign, the Kingdom of Armenia's army consists of 250 men, all of whom only serve when required by their King. Most of them range in age from 15-40, and all of them are men. Of the 250 soldiers, 100 are spearmen trained to fight in a similar manner to a phalanx. They carry light armor similar to that of the Persians in the BC era, with shields made out of wood and a few having metal armor pieces. They also carry swords for close quarters combat. Another 75 men are designated as archers and swordsmen and besides their wood/wicker shields, they carry only cotton armor. The last 75 men are designated as the cavalry. The cavalry has very light armor, similar to the other divisions. They are equipped with bows, spears, and swords and trained to use all three on horseback.

 

There are a few guns, which are always carried by some of the most veteran members of the archery division. These are rarely used unless the troops are engaging others using guns.

 

The army has been sent out in groups consisting of 20 spearmen, 15 archers, and 15 horsemen, with each group carrying a few guns. They are to scout around to try and find any signs of human life. If they find friendlies, they are to invite them into the village and escort them back. They will also leave signs directing people to their village. Should they find people they believe to be a threat, they are to eliminate the threats. They will also be searching for possible supplies they could use.(MOD PLZ)

 

• Following the surrounding area being combed, the army shall split in two with 50 spearmen, 25 archers, and 75 horsemen heading out of town in random directions down old roads in search of other settlements. Should they find another settlement, they will attempt to make peaceful contact. Should the settlement attack, they are to tactically retreat but fight back if possible. Should they not attack, and the settlement is smaller, they are to make peaceful contact and offer to either annex the settlement into the kingdom or take the people into the village. Should the village be larger, they are to head back. Guns will be taken along for these treks. They will take along pac animals to carry along supplies and each soldier will be carrying a day or two worth of food and water. Once they are approximately 40% of the way through their supplies, they are to head back to the settlement. Multiple treks like this will be taken.(MOD PLZ)

Republic of the Rif

 

A orange hue settled on the horizon on the western wall of the Republic of the Rif's central stronghold. A fine stronghold constructed by previous Portuguese Colonial Overlords, it's wall worse for wears as glancing strikes of stone and bullets have cracked its surface. Within the walls soldiers drilled, skinned old horses put out to pasteur, and divided up into small praying groups for their respective Gods. 

 

President  Amirmoez leaned back in a aged wooden chair, whose hind legs sat precariously on a stack of books to keep it level, and stared upon the ceiling above him. Today was the day for true reform, the day for which will either live in infamy or be recorded happily in a poet's texts. He slammed himself forward on the chair and picked up a small drawing his daughter had drawn for him what seemed a lifetime ago. He let a small smile break before ushering the picture into a small metal lock box, and locking said lock box. He settled a tattered light blue Kepi to his greying hair. Amirmoez inhaled deeply as he strutted towards his office's door and barreled through it, with both slight grace and clumsiness. Through a tint of a French accent that has mingled with a Moroccan one the President let out a boisterous call to his soldiers to form rank. He made a small nod to the squadron of men in more formal military dress compared to many regulars and cavalrymen formed about.

 

The men were the Moroccan legion, the most loyal, well armed, and trained men in the entirety of the Republic of the Rif. These were orphaned children adopted before they could even walk, they were educated at the highest level possible, bonded to their new brothers like cement, and made eunuchs. They were the hardest men about the lands of Tangier's most likely, and also the most trusted. These were the Presidential guard, the men trusted with the execution of any President who overstepped their bounds, upkeep of martial law, and being the first ones in and out of combat. Each quarter of the twenty men was that of a different ethnic background, there were the French, Moroccans, Spaniards, and Anglo-Saxons. They all knew each other's tongue and displinced to be united in all aspects. They were given the finest horses, the finest weaponry, and the highest of societal honors.

 

The Regulars and Cavalrymen were less armed and less trained but had much greater numbers than the Elites of the Moroccan Legion. They sat about fiddled with their clubs constructed from fragments of rubble and sandstone, their spears made of sharp objects strewn about the lands, and their bows carefully, or sloppily, made. Some Cavalrymen sat upon their destriers, mules, camels, or even donkeys.

 

The President briefly rubbed his moustache with his right hand before erupting with a passionate voice that drowned out the distant crack of bullets and screaming. 

 

"My soldiers, no, my brothers! We stand upon grounds blessed by our ancestors drive to survive and advance. I refuse to muddy their vision and efforts by laying back in comfort as many claim I do. Today marks the day where we either succeed, or die!

 

We will no longer isolate ourselves, we will no longer show mercy to those whom seek to bring harm to us, and most importantly we shall no longer sit upon our asses! 

 

Today we open the radio ways to listen to the signals about Morocco, today we leave our fort, and today we change for the better!

Amirmoez inhaled deeply before strutting a single step forward and blasting forward a salute to his men and turning back to his office. He settled in front of his desk as he uncorked a bottle of water and chugged it down and settled once more into his chair drafting multiple documents with a dated pen which ink was slowly dying. He drafted a bit irate letter to the radio operators who slept in rather than being about for his speech, ordering them to search through channels and write a formal report for the President. He reached out to the mechanically inclined citizens of the Republic and formed a small branch of engineers, whom he gave the prestigious task of upkeeping the motionless FT-17 that had previously left decaying deep inside the fort, they are allowed to study it and draft schematics as long it doesn't risk damaging it. The regulars are sent out to recover and scavenge from nearby locations and the cavalry serve as forward scouts and guards for the regulars. The Moroccan Legionaries are personally approached with the task of training the garrison left at the fort to guard. A few small memos are drafted to more prestigious farmers about the lands to begin to expand farming operations.
