The Death of an Archbishop

In a dark cell, deep in the Luciensport Keep, the frame of a once lively man is found cold on the ground. He is clearly underfed and malnourished. Upon closer inspection the warden would deem him to be dead. The once prominent Archbishop of Cistercia was starved in the name of "heresy." Having liked the Bishop, the warden took the papers on his desk and published them, as the old fellow had instructed.

I write this to you, the God-fearing people of the Empire, on the first day of my imprisonment. It is with great sorrow that I must relinquish my place on this earth. I assume that I will soon be killed. I am considered a threat to this false Pontiff and his henchman Peredono. Before my leave of this world, I would like to address the events that led to my imprisonment. Peredono had invited me to his keep to discuss our current state of affairs. He mentioned his distaste for Tobias I and asked my opinion of "His Holiness". I stated that "GOD will denounce this man(His Holiness) in time," in an effort to keep my true opinion vague. This statement, though it sounds traitorous, is grounded in truth. Just two weeks prior to this event I had caught Tobias I and an unknown male High Elf inappropriately fraternizing in the empty Luciensport cathedral. I was afraid for the future of our church should such a sodomite lead it, but I did not have evidence of this event. After all, who would take my word over the Pontiff's? Now, sitting in my cell, I realize that it matters not. GOD knows and sees all and Tobias I shall be punished in Hell. My final prayers will not be for my soul - it is pure - but for the soul of Tobias I. I hope that I have served you well, people of the Empire. DEUS VULT.

Signed,

Johannes Vos de Ruyter, Archbishop of Cistercia, Dean of State, Patriarch of the Synod and High Judge of the Court of Common Pleas

Tobias I begins writing an official statement to the controversial letter from Johannes De Ruyter

"We have given the late Johannes De Ruyter sufficient food and water to live starvation free, any lack of food would be of his won accord, unless of course his lack of gluttonous wine and cheese at all hours of day was what was keeping him alive this was the first lie of his statement. The second lie of his statement was the meeting with Johannes De Ruyter. Firstly the conversation at the keep was about the assassination of my person conducted by the at the time Auditor who's job was to root out heresy, and crimes against the Church themselves. Instead of coming to His Holiness Tobias I about the assassination talks he instead replied simply with the words "GOD will denounce His Holiness"  implying that he did not care if the Auditor was to murder us.  The last lie has no grounds for proof as we have guards loyal, not to me but to GOD on our person at all times, especially in the Cathedral not to mention two lies before weaken his reliability to call me a sodomite. We ask all faithful to pray GOD shows the mercy Johannes will need to dissolve the sins of his Lust, and greed for power.

Deus Magnus,

Tobias I "
