Most points that deal with character death. I've always found the LOTC approach to be rather interesting. In a sense, I learned to agree with them.

The whole combat system, right now. But I reckon a first-hand experience will do well to redeem that.

 

Another would be time progression. I recall seeing IG years on the wiki, is there an official timescale?

What is roleplaying?:

Assuming a separate identity to participate in communally driven drama with others in a mostly self-defined environment.

 

What is metagaming?:

Using knowledge gathered OOC for IC gain. In a broader term, calling out someone for not knowing something OOC that their character would definitely know IC.

 

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?:

Implying a narrative in future-perfect. In more casual terms, roleplaying actions done instead of attempted.

Biography  (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add three references to the server lore.): (where does your character come from?; where have they traveled to?; what year were they born in? et cetera.)

Karina was born into her relatively well-off burgher family in Felsen, as third child out of six. She is home-educated by her father to be a generic bureaucrat. Knowing that the same skills were those that left her father able to feed the family with more than bread and stew, she didn't resist much and grew to develop a faint passion for the coin. From the age of nine she works next to her father in measuring and exchanging currencies in their modest townhouse and office.

 

A turn in her life came when her father died, Karina sixteen at the time. Her brother took over the family business and she was no longer as much involved, instead kept indoors to be later bargained into marriage hopefully for a good dowry that'll boost family business. Despite the varying attempts and the marriage of both her older and younger sister, she was left without a suitor as a commoner in waiting.

 

With the recent wars in which the Holy Empire engaged itself in, the Gottholds grew their stash of coins to the point where her help was no longer required, so at the age of 26 she set off to seek her own fortune, riddled after a faint argument with her family. She didn't take much else than her knowledge of money, her ambitions, dreams and of course a good pouch of coins from the family treasury that'll surely leave a brother or two wondering where she went. She's currently at odds whether she should leave Felsen and seek fortune in another town, or whether she should simply stay and cope, steering clear of her family. She has a high respect for nobility of the realm and will probably seek to earn the protection of them, selling herself into servitude.

 

Personality Traits:

Charming, curious yet cautious. Perhaps a tad bit gregarious as well, with some ambition and diligence. On the other side, rather greedy, cynical and a compulsive liar often blowing or making up stories on the spot to polish herself.

 

Ambitions:

Wealth, mostly wealth and some influence. Taken her personality and talents she'd probably bind herself in servitude one way or the other to either nobility or someone wealthy and then try and find her way upwards.

 

Strengths/Talents:

Her most prominent strength is probably a silver tongue sprinkled with a good sense of boot licking and mild sociopathy to appease those she has to appease. Her talent, mostly writing and a fair bit of bureaucratic sense. I imagine her as a suitable adviser, chamberlain or even cupbearer if that's what pays her most. For a random talent of her's, she's good with poetry and has a decent eye for art.

 

Weaknesses/Inabilities:

Probably her physical weakness in combat, for most prominent one, and her lack of combat training. For her mind, a gentle sprinkle of paranoia that makes her suspicious of any and all around her. That, and a cupful of greed that leaves her mostly amoral, sometimes even immoral. For a random inability of hers, she's claustrophobic and often feels uncomfortable when indoors without windows, or when far from the entryway.

 

Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?)

5'5'' tall, weighs 140 pounds. Slightly wavy long black hair, blue eyes, square-ish face perhaps a bit blunt and shot with patches of freckles underneath the eyes. A hawk-nose curling a bit downwards and small lips, usually bound in a faint smile. Eyebrows trimmed and normally resting in a neutral stance. Her body lacks the muscles, but she's in no way underweight, perhaps a tad bit chubby even. She'd walk around in with a straight posture that's ready to bend anytime the situation demands it.
