Tourney of Laria, 1561

The Imperial House formally invites all to witness the Grand Imperial Tourney hosted at the County of Ravenna by the grace of Ser Vitallius de Capua and Ser Maric Vimmark. The event is to be held on the first day of the Saint’s week’s end. This tourney will host events such as jousting, a melee and an archery competition, in hopes to have a healthier and more honorable way at this conflict. The tourney ground will be heavily guarded by the Nauzican brigade, and no northern feuds will occur on the crown’s lands.

 

The Joust

Jousting, an age old sport between the those of high birth in Oren and various successor states. For those knights and nobles who wish to compete against one another on the jousting lists they must provide their own horse and armor, wooden lances will be provided for them throughout the event. At the end of this event the winner of the jousting competition will be able to crown any noble lady of their choosing as the queen of love and beauty, they will also receive a champion’s purse of three thousand minas.

 

The Melee

 

A duel, painted by Jon Ponder, dated 1547.

 

Duels between men of any birth and status. One on one fights between those who sign themselves up to compete for onlookers both noble and common alike. Duels to the death are discouraged, the duel is until one party yields. The winner of the melee is granted the title Champion of the Tourney and is granted a champion's purse of two thousand minas.

 

The Archery Competition

 

 

Huntsmen, archers and those willing to try their luck at proving themselves to be the best archer in the Empire are able to compete against one another in this competition of aim. Bows are provided to the marksman, competitors are not permitted to use their own bows. The Champion of the Archery competition will win the title of the Emperor's own longbowman and a champion's purse of two thousand minas.
