The Cathedral of Saint Lothar bustles with the traffic of men in frocks and colored robes. Young clergy mingle with their almost ancient colleagues and all throughout wander altar boys and acolytes attending to the needs of the faithful. Upon the dais sits three men clad in the burgundy robes of cardinals: Georgiy Nikov, Stephen de Beaufort, and Svatobor Ivanovich. Cardinal de Beaufort gives a nod of his head to Gustaf Becker, a man of the Visigan vanguard, and the soldiers of the faith bang their halberds and call the convention to order. Beaufort stands from his set at the center and begins his oration:

"Welcome, all of you, to our ecclesiastical convention that calls upon setting the false revelations of Daniel III to rights. We gather here to elect a Vicar of GOD among those eligible, and we implore that each man give their vote honestly and under the consideration of our Mother Church’s wellbeing. At this time, the doors of the Cathedral shall close and remain barred until a High Pontiff has been chosen. May God grace all those in attendance, and may His hand guide our decision.

Those that have been chosen to stand for the position of High Pontiff are Cardinal Svatobor Ivanovich and Cardinal Georgiy Nikov. Each man of the cloth that holds the rank deacon or above shall be afforded one vote. Voting shall commence after prayer to Saint Lucien and the candidates have said their words.

In nomine Patris, et Horenus, et Exaltus Honorem…"

The Cardinal breaks his oration and begins the prayer. Those that were seated stand and join in prayer. The words are spoken in unison and the voices echo off the stained glass and relics displayed around the halls. The prayer ends with a solemn “So say we all.” and almost immediately the deliberations begin. The first few clergymen take their positions before the dais and declare their votes…

((This is an IC RP thread. All replies will be IC and spoken from your character. Only those listed above may vote. VOTING WILL END ON MONDAY, JUNE 6TH, 11:59PM EST))

Svatobor Ivanovich, stands slowly. He holds his hand to await silence from the gathered clergy.

"Yes, I have admitted to it. Before God, before all, I was the most fierce opponent to the Danielic reign. To the mummery and foolhardiness of this blinded Pontifex, blinded not only in vision but in mind. He was clouded by thoughts of self-preservation, by paranoia. At every turn, he saw a dagger. In every cup, he saw poison. Yet, I did indeed admit to having planned on brandishing naked steel upon his person. And, I would still do such to a madman such as he. A madman who, in the name of himself not in God, proclaimed himself a Prophet and bestowed upon us 'Revelations'. A madman who, in the name of himself not in God, disbanded the Synod which has been collected since the reign of Pontiffs long forgotten. In the old tongue, Pontiff means Builder of Bridges. This man was a Destroyer of Bridges. I shall, if deemed worthy by my peers and by God, take upon myself the title of Bridge Builder. And I shall do just that. Firstly, I will build the reforms necessary to revitalize the Church. Since the lacking second-half of the reign of Lucien III, the Church has been losing clergymen and fresh faces. During the reign of the Madman, the Bishops and the Episcopal Estate fell greatly in terms of rights and power. He sook to satisfy their needs with 'Bishopric Bulls' yet they were ineffective and lacking in any real power. He sook to remove Pentarchs at will, to destroy the tradition of elected Pontificy and the long independence of the Church from the State. I did plan to send this liar, this sinner, this madman to God. And I would do it again if he sat upon the Immaculate Throne. I am a poor man, but not poor in mind. I will serve the Church for the Church, in the name of God and not in the name of myself. I know and trust the candidate and my fellow raev, Georgiy, yet he lacks in age and in experience. While I reign, he will gain the necessary skills and knowledge so that one day as a wisened man he can rise as a true independent Pontiff, not as one to dance among the pit of snakes that Daniel III has left behind. I will bear no crown, for the only true crown is that of God and his chosen Emperor, I am simply God's servant. I will be the Servant of God's Servants, and in this I will serve you before me. For every life of yours, I will lay down ten of mine. For every drop of blood from martyrdom you spill, I will sacrifice a limb. For every power I gain, you will be bestowed thrice more. To elect me, is to elect me as the Servant of God's Servants, as the Builder of Bridges so that the Church and God's Will may safely cross over the turbulent river of the worldly realm."

Georgiy Nikovich, stands up, giving a nod to Svatobar as he takes his place upon the stage, adjusting his robe, and signing the Lorraine cross upon his chest, looking to the crowd awaiting silence.

He clears his throat before speaking, in a warm tone, to the Clergy.

I, Georgiy Nikovich was raised in Visiga, the Holy Lands, near Holofernes, in a little town that most of you know as Luciensport.  At age eight I spoke to former High Pontiff Daniel III, and decided to become an Altar boy. I was nothing, had nothing, I was garbed in ripped clothing, stained with sweat and my own blood. Since that day I vowed to revolve my life around serving GOD, and walking in his footsteps. I spent countless hours studying the prophets, the scrolls, the church history, and even the schism war. Each and every day I sat in my room, on a hard wooden stool, while other children played outside of my dusty window, with my head in my studies, doing nothing but learning of GOD and his greatness. The day I became an Altar boy I accepted the fact that I’d never lay with a woman nor marry because it’d be a distraction from learning of GOD. I quickly moved up in the church, from Altar boy to Deacon, from Deacon to Priest, and from Priest to Cardinal. As Cardinal I was granted land, granted Holofernes itself, a place I grew up in, a palace the High Pontiff was seated in, an honor I could not be any more grateful for. There I would study Daniel III, study every fault, which there were many, and every good thing he had done. Taking this information, studying it, and then thinking of what I would do as High Pontiff, what I would change about Daniel III’s church and how I would improve it. This was all achieved by a child, a teenager, under the age of eighteen. By age nineteen I was given the opportunity to become High Pontiff. Countless hours of me studying, devoting my entire life to my studies of GOD, living in GOD’s footsteps, had all paid off. I could forsee my plans coming together. The Cardinals I chose were perfect, they were the clergyman I needed to fix Daniel III’s mistakes and to return the church to its former glory. Now I stand here, in front of all of you, to legitimize my place as High Pontiff.

I observed how the church should operate and how I can bring the church back to its former glory with many, well thought out, revisions. Some of the revisions I have in mind will not only give Cardinals more power over the High Pontiff to prevent another mad man from destroying the church, but, they will help bring new clergyman to the church so when I am no longer High Pontiff, those clergyman can step in place of my Synod, and a new High Pontiff would be elected to lead the church into a positive direction. I’ve already made progress in my short time as High Pontiff, I have already been working diligently to recruit worthy men into the clergy. So far, during my three days as High Pontiff, I’ve already recruited two Priests, and an Acolyte who are all very talented writers and who remind me of myself. They have all studied the scrolls, and have devoted their life to GOD. My life long devotion to GOD, has already shown worth, and proof that I was made High Pontiff, not by a mad man, but by GOD’s will. I, Georgiy Nikovich, Prince Cardinal of Holofernes, feel that I’ve earned my place as High Pontiff and that GOD would be displeased if I am not granted it, legitimately threw this council. Lastly, before I end my speech, I’d like to speak about Cardinal Svatobar. This man is a great man, a GOD loving Raevir man, who I am very close friends with.” He says looking to Svatobar - “This man would, no doubt, be equally as good of an option for High Pontiff as me, but, there is one problem that I fear GOD would be displeased with. This man plotted an assassination on the previous High Pontiff Daniel III. Not only is this frowned upon by GOD but it is frowned upon by many Clergy man, even tho Daniel III became Ill and made very bad decisions. Being the mad man that Daniel III was, I feel as if it may have been GOD’s will to have Daniel III removed from his position, but, I do not think the way Cardinal Svatobar and Boiendl went about this was GOD’s doing. I unexcommunicated Cardinal Svatobar, I do feel as if Cardinal Svatobar deserved less of a punishment. I brought Cardinal Svatobar back into GOD’s fold, but we must not forget that he did strike out against the previous High Pontiff, mad as Daniel III was at the time.

I feel as if I have the support from all of my Cardinals, and I have done a great deal of positive things so far during my short term. I believe that if I have their support then I truly have GOD’s support as well. GOD bless all of you and may GOD cast his vote directly through you.

Georgiy Nikovich steps away from the stage with a smile on his face.

Father Adolf Gotthold would place his vote, after a long and reverent prayer. His vote would be for Cardinal (Georgiy Nikovich), to make an attempt at legitimizing the ever-pious Cardinal's claim as High Pontiff and settle any further dissent.

After placing his vote, he'd seat himself and continue his wordless, deep meditation.

Father Benegar Gotthold sits in his pew, eyes closed as he clutches the Cross of Lorraine. Opening his eyes, he writes down a name. He approaches the altar, looking at the altar professing,

"Eligo in summen pontificem." (I elect as Supreme Pontiff)

"Testor Patris Dominum, qui me iudicaturus est, me eum eligere, quem secundam Deum iudico eligi debere." (I call as my witness the Father our Lord, who will be my judge that my vote is given to the one who, Before GOD, I profess should be elected.)

"Georgiy Nikovich."

May GOD deem him worthy to serve as the High Pontiff of His Most Holy Church. Amen.

Cardinal Stephen de Beaufort stands and casts his vote to the conclave, "I cast my vote for Georgiy Nikov. And thus, by majority count, this conclave concedes and declares the session concluded."

The clergy retake their positions standing before their seats and wait as Cardinal de Beaufort speaks,

"By the grace of GOD and all those in attendance, we have chosen our Vicar of God. We do appoint Cardinal Georgiy Nikov as the Holy Father of our Mother Church."

The Cardinal signs the lorraine cross over his body and recites the closing words, "In nomine Patris, et Horenus, et Exaltus Honorem."
