Letters are dispatched via raven and courier to the lords and ladies of the Holy Orenian Empire, the calligraphy authored in liquid gold, the parchment gilded in a display of imperial opulence. Upon each piece of  nearly identical correspondence was the seal of the imperial court, certifying the event as legitimate.

Spoiler

To your Lordship,

With this letter you and your family are hereby invited to the Summer Gala, hosted within Anapalais (better known as the imperial palace)! The theme is “Summer Joy” and all are encouraged to wear bright colors and light clothing. Upon arriving at Anpalais, present this letter to the guards! We thank you for coming to the event, long live the empire and her holy emperor!

Signed,

Princess Eleanor Elizabeth

Activities for the season’s celebration:

Heavenly Mass

To enlighten our souls, we will have a short moment of mass under His Eminence Stephen de Beaufort. The knights looking to participate in the joust can be blessed during this time.

The Grand Feast

What is an imperial ball without a proper feast? To stave your hunger after a tiresome joust, the palace cooks will be arranging a dinner. An imperial hunt will be held the day before in order to  acquire the meats.  You may eat as much as you desire, or as little as you please. Use this time to mingle with the other nobles, swell with intrigue, or gain the emperor’s favor.

The Featured Event

A ball will, of course, need dancing, therefore you are expected to enjoy the festivities with any and all.. For those unwed, perhaps it is a time to win the favor of your desired lord or lady.

Midnight Walk

By the end of the festivities, all those who have participated will exit into the palace gardens to then socialize with the others. There will be beverages and feasting that will take place again; we will dine on imperial desserts and pastries, whilst making pleasantries.

The Chivalric Joust

A joust will be held outside of Anpalais. The winner and his guest of choice shall have the honor of sitting nearest the emperor during the feast.

All noble houses are invited.

Weapons are to be left at the door.

"Good Sigismund will want me there, I suppose."
Countess Ceriwyn de Bar breathes a sigh, glancing up from her letter that she'd taken upon herself to receive in place of her husband, and decidedly returns to the afternoon tea she'd arranged for herself in one Castle Geldern's quiet corners.

Count Jaryd Brightwater looks over the invitation whilst eating lunch with his cousin's children. "Jerrik, Lopkaea. We're attending a ball, it seems. We're to go to Anapalais." Jaryd folds up the letter and sets it aside, looking as the two young siblings whisper to each other with excitement.

"Perhaps the boys will attend. I think I will not."

Robert Ashes, one of the many 'bastards of de Bar', scratches his chin in thought as he mulls over the invitation sitting up the desk of his grandfathers' study. His fingertips would brush against one of his many pubescent chin hairs as he'd do so.

"I wonder if grandfather will permit me to go..." he says.

Lucius debates whether hiding the invitation from Charlotte and pretending this whole thing doesn't exist so to spare him. Knowing undoubtedly it'd escape to his young nieces ears he resigns his thoughts and decides to attend, heading out of his study to inform the others their attendance was compulsory and then prepping the appropriate escort to attend with them.
