WuHanXianShi14 0 Popular Post Share Posted June 21, 2016 So being the pen of the Dominion, I suppose it is my turn now. I offer no frilly pictures nor fancy words. Only a simple message. Knowing the high elves rise up against my people once more, I knew it was coming, yet still couldn’t help but feel the sort-of sickness to my stomach when my lodge servant brought me three neatly furled up scrolls this morning, practically shoved them in my face. Naturally, they were thickly laden propaganda written by what could be none other than Haelun’ors leader, or some other radical within your state. I always despised these wars of the pen. Nothing really is accomplished but an increase in animosity on both sides. But if you want to talk, Haelun’or, let’s talk. As it seems, your leaders have declared they will follow no false king, only Malin, yet have spit on Malin’s name for centuries. I understand it was for the purposes of riling up a crowd, propaganda, but your leaders could have at least inserted Larihei’s name in there instead of invoking an ancient title they have long since forsaken, its rather unbelievable. I feel the simplest thing for me to do would simply compare your current enemies with your current allies. Naturally, we, the Dominion of Malin and its current head of state- Tristin Tresery are your enemies. Why is this so? Perhaps it was because it was under his name that elfkind was unified under one banner, under less than ideal circumstances for Haelun’or, understandably, and with plenty of bungles along the way. I would certainly be resentful of my King if he authorized the disbandment of my state’s military as the Dominion did with the Vigil, although that was quickly overturned. I would be frustrated if my king forbade me from laying waste to what I considered a rogue state and a threat to my people as we did when we kept you from destroying Celein. I myself have my own sentiments towards those situations, but to blatantly refute your people’s feelings towards the matter is to simply dig further trenches between us, so I will say I understand your plight. Yet all those things are simply the nature of Kingship. He cannot give all his vassals what they want always. During the convergences of the Council of Roots, King Tresery would often say how he was the king of all elves, not just wood and dark elves. How Haelun’or needed to be thrown a bone every now and again to keep them content and keep the Dominion stable. Unfortunately for you, it was decided upon by the King, the Empire and the Council to not allow you to destroy Celein, which would have involved the deaths of many innocent elves. Morality aside, you were given concessions enough in the situation, like a fully outfitted headquarters within Celein for the vigil in which you could non-violently return your kinsfolk to the path of purity. It seems however that was enough, as your leaders insisted on the path of the blade, as they do now. The Dominion is not an inherently war-like state, we have no desire to fight, yet raise our blades to defend our home in this dark time. The current allies of your silver state, however, sing a different song. How much sense does it make to align yourself with the war uzg? A race of war-like people who not a few years ago declared a full out hunt of your people to honour a dead Rex? A pile of high elven heads STILL sits right in front of the gates of their imposing fortress. Even now, although a formal alliance exists between your two states, they still regularly ENSLAVE your kind. I have seen multiple high elven ‘Snagaz’ to my great dismay, known of many who have been taken. In the docks of the cloud temple I see pale skinned elves with their hair shaved, their skin branded and their eyes showing broken souls. Even though you are currently my enemy, I still hope with all my heart that you are not fighting alongside those you KNOW are kidnapping and torturing your own kin. These orcs have always held massive contempt for your kind. For them to suddenly turn around and offer to be brothers in arms with you now, do you truly believe it will last? It does not take a genius to see that this is a marriage of convenience. If you think that should you win this war, you will find lasting stability and peace with your current allies, I suppose I do not know what else to say. The plight of the high elves under the Dominion of Malin was not an ideal one, and I express my condolences that the situation with Celein was not handled the way you wanted it to be. However, the King has been quite reasonable. He has even held me back from imposing laws upon you, giving your leaders as much time as they need to return a draft of what they believe to be reasonable kingdom-wide rules. To disband the Vigil was my idea, born of a century of paranoia due to war with your kin, yet was quickly overturned by the King. Mistakes were made, our two people have much animosity with each other, and naturally there was to be bumps along the road to reunification. Finally, I understand King Tresery loosed a few threats towards your people, yet words and actions are very different indeed, and while he may be an appointed monarch, he is still bound by the natural flaws of mortal beings. So as oppressed as you feel, the Dominion never had thrown its client state of Haelun’or down the gutter as your leaders would have you believe. Even if we had, is allying with those who ENSLAVE you, who in the very recent past HUNTED YOU FOR SPORT, really a solution? Do you believe fighting alongside people like that will lead to lasting peace for your kind? We wood and dark elves of the Dominion fight for survival. We know your greenskinned allies will destroy our lands and displace our people if you win this war. Your kind fights because your leaders were held back from …what? Destroying a neutral city-state? A few offhand comments in bad taste? You must think who the aggressors here are. I end this missive by giving the people of Haelun’or two choices. Peace, and war. War is what we currently face. Make no mistake, the olive branch we extend out to you now does not mean we are not prepared to fight to the last man to defend our homes, our wives, our children, our culture and our traditions, just as you would for yours. Reject our peace and we will meet you on the battlefield. Peace is what we could have. You, the people of Haelun’or could lay down your arms. Our quarrel is not with you, nor even your leaders, irritating as they are. It is with the orcs who carry plague onto our lands. Elfkind need not be destroyed. Perhaps this missive will dim the militaristic fervor of your leaders, perhaps not. Either way, it is up to the common folk to make their will known to their rulers. chaotikal 2392 Share Posted June 21, 2016 "But you serve under Oren, who destroyed your forests and killed your kin not 50 years ago. Your letter is so far fetched and mindwashed you sound like that mad elf, Kalenz Uradir. Oren destroyed the Wood Elves, and the High Elves alike, it is an empire of treachery and won't stop until everything is under their tiny immoral feet." I'd choose the brigands."

"Pretty sure that Oren hasn't burned down our forests 50 years ago, as we just landed in Vailor 50 years ago. Might have been a century ago, several human dynasties ago and they weren't even the progenitors of that particular conflict. Hell, wasn't even the current iteration of Oren that did that, no human who was part of that is even still alive. Moving on further no forests were even burned, we were displaced from a settlement however. That was due to Kalenz Uradir, not any human or Oren for that matter." He thinks to himself perhaps some of the Rebels are grasping at straws to find some form of justification for their involvement.
