The Turkish "Coup"

That's... Fairly conspiracy theory, but I dunno.

But yesterday an interesting question was asked in a teamspeak I was in-- Why would you support the coup, when it's against a democratically majority elected president? Because he did get elected, and even if you disagree with his policies, a coup is also incredibly undemocratic.

I still sorta found myself supporting the coup, but I dunno, it's an interesting question.

Just now, Space said:

People didn't support the coup. They were standing against the military group which caused it. They went outside with flags; throwing stones, and shouting at them.

Arguably, it can also be pointed out that with the sheer number of soldiers arrested, implying the number that supported the coup...it's quite shocking that they could achieve so little in a night of utter confusion.

Not saying we should grasp at straws, but this military group advocated democratic elements...and well, the Turkey PM has been shown to be all but democratic

Regardless of conspiracy or not, I am just glad to know you and other LotC players are safe.

Wasn't the rebelling military faction forced to leave by the UN for going over raid limits?

It's easy for the coupers to scream "democracy!" whilst using arms to kill civilians. Erdogan is an ******* but I doubt the pro-coup elements are as good as they're making themselves out to be.

Its easy to forget in the politics of it all that people actually died last night

You might not remember it, but Turkey used to do this every ten years. I'm sorry, but this is really nothing new for Turkey.

It's just your generation has never seen one. Just be glad that it is seemingly over. (isn't it?) Because in the post-modern era, civil wars last on average like fifteen years.

Eve, I'm legit thankful to hear you're all right, and a little miffed to hear Erdogan has gotten a positive image out of this, but that doesn't overpower the former.

After waking up to the attack in Nice and just after that hearing that bombs were going off so close my friend could hear and feel them... Well. I was worried for you.
