The Aegean Academy

Learn the way of Aegis by professors and teachers on the Academy campus

The Aegean Academy is a project that involves learning the ways of Aegis. You can find professors and teachers on all kinds of subjects, ranging from archaeology to botany and from blacksmithing to cooking.

The academy is soon becoming finished. The city is located in the city of Aeriel, and a map with direction can be found further down.

If you are interested in being either a student or part of the staff, as a professor for example, see the bulletin board just right of this one.

When you finish a course or a subject you will get some sort of recognition. As we speak, what this will be is currently unknown, but it will be something like a digital diploma maybe. This part of the project still has great room to be evolved and extended.

Current curricula

Basic course one how to live and thrive in Aegis - by Zyn

1. Criminal Law:

A course that will discuss in details the laws of Aegis, such as anti-griefing, Villainous acts and restrictions, RPing a kill, Metagaming, etc.

- Purpose: Keep players from staying off the ban list 3 days after they get accepted to the server.

- Teaching Reqs: None, just someone with a clean record.

2. History:

A course that details the lore of Aegis to its students for a better understanding of the world around them.

- Purpose: Increasing immersion.

- Teaching Reqs: Scholars, and forum lurkers.

3. Drama:

A course where students act out plays, maybe performing at the Laurelin Theater.

- Purpose: Give students first hand knowledge of period phrases and speech to help them become better roleplayers.

- Teaching Reqs: A good roleplayer.

4. Health and Development:

A course outlining the skill system in an RP manner detailing how a player can get started and plan for their future, curriculum can be improved with the hunger system as well.

- Purpose: Getting rid of the "Why can't I punch the tree?" question.

- Teaching Reqs: None

5. Economics:

A course outlining trade commands and markets.

- Purpose: Stop new players from getting scammed out of their money

- Teaching Reqs: None

6. Hunting:

Basic course outlining hot to kill the assorted mobs of Aegis.

- Purpose: Give new players a source of minas and the knowledge to run from pigmen for the ime being.

- Teaching Reqs: a combat focused player.

Who are you?:

Well, I am many things.

Many used to call me... insane. That is not true. I am rather more philosophical, and like to make up poems, that deal with such issues. For example;

What was the chicken before the egg?

Well, 'twas it an egg, destined to be like the others?

Or was it more, a design of Iblees to spy on all?

Maybe a misshaped ball.

Who knows? Only God.

But liken this one to a pod.

Which job and subject/s are you applying for?: Arts and Drama Professor, and Co- Headmaster? You decide... I also believe, due to a past occupation, that anything medicinal could fall under me, instead.

What are your past experiences that can strengthen your chance to get the position?: Well, 'tis not the past experiences that count, but the skill in which the present is delivered. However, this seems vital, so I'll go into some detail...

I used to be a healer in Laurelin. I was sick, however, in the mind from one named Mayctor's lies. After a time, I cleared my head, and I hoped to reclaim my position. But then, I came across this notice, and remembered my tendency to tangent about things, like philosophy.

And so, I aim to help a fellow drow in furthering the education of the masses. I believe that the skills taught here may go on to become useful in the fight against Iblees...

What are your thoughts on The Aegean Academy?

I believe that, for such a new concept, it is fantastic. Many will benefit from the education here, and it will help in furthering the fight, the good fight. Against the Undead and their slaves.

What can you help out with besides being a professor?:

I cannot fight well, due to my advanced age, but I can offer a standard of teaching like no other. I also excel at punishment and discipline, something that many lack...

(( I am also on almost constantly, and I am currently doing my Year 11 GCSE's, and figured this'd be ironic. I also owned the first guild, created some good lore for that and now, I am simply an old elf who is a little cranky, and insane from his ordeals. Insanity will never reveal itself to the school- I'll keep 'em separate for you :P
