Just wondering though, why did Oren feel the need to name their city after the real life city of Johannesberg in South Africa? I thought we were supposed to be somewhat original in our names?

It's meant to be a reference to the 'Johannian' dynasty thats currently on the throne or whatever it's called.

Matt hit it on the dot, the current line of Emperors is known as the Johannian Monarchy, and as such, it'd make sense for us to name our capital city after them. On top of that, we're going for an almost renaissance-ish cultural overhaul to the Empire, so Johannesburg was the best name choice for our ambitions.
