Event Planners, MC Names:

ThatcheriteSybil @SybilTheThatcherite

Event Type:

Investigation + Dungeon / artifact hunt

Event Date:

First part over the next couple weeks, final event's date depends on outcome, but I'd say ... 3rd or 10th of September.

All parts of the event would preferably be held GMT early night / EST evening / PST afternoon. BST 9pm-1am, for current times.

Effected Groups:

Church of the Canon, Holy Order of St. Wilfriche. Maybe anyone interested joining up along the way from Oren.

I think there's four active knights / squires right now, along with 4-5 priests and nuns.

Event Location:

For the investigation, various places depending on the choice of the one who'd help with the organisation.

For the dungeon / artifact hunt, any tomb, crypt, cave, ruin, grove or whatever fits the story, possibly somewhere remote.

Summarization:

One cold night in the cathedral's archives, an aged nun's glasses fell down cracking to the marble. She reached down with a shaking right to lift what remained of it and plucked it next to her nose glaring at the forlorn parchments in front. No matter how many times she read the scripture, it still made sense. The words of a long-forgotten language only understood in Johannesburg by her and that crazy old beggar who keeps falling off the roof ... they were in fact a description of Axios. The four islands, the hills, mountains and even the lakes fit in with the descriptions, albeit she knew time must have carved them different by now.

It was an account written almost like a tale, a true legend describing how a group of knights from the old Kingdom of Oren set sail to unknown waters with the Holy Right on their ship. While the nun couldn't decipher what this Holy Right referred to, she assumed it was the right hand of either the Prophets of the canon, preserved as perhaps the holiest of all relics. How did nobody discover it before? "Maybe ..." She uttered. "They found that the successor lands to the kingdom of Oren didn't resemble the description at all."

She stood up to light an oil lamp and spent the next couple hours stalking the archives, shifting from one document to the other, one scrap of parchment to the next. But all in vane, there weren't any other mentions of the legend. Could it be a folly? She returned to the account and pulled the parchment closer to her elderly nose, as much as the hairs sticking out touched the ink. It smelt old and - most importantly - original. This must be it. The islands ... but it's all too coincidental. Yet finding the Holy Right would be a feat to remember ... still, there's but one mention of the tale ... yet if it's true ... what if it's already taken? Who'd do ... Dreadlanders. But why ... no. They have no access to the archives ... yes, it must still be out there.

In the end, the nun fell asleep amidst her thoughts leaning over the parchment, warding it with her embrace. It'll be the morning's first light that'll wake her and send her to the Pontiff.

Other Information:

Both the church and the Wilfriche Order have received a fair influx of new players recently. And I threw up this idea of going on a holy-grail-esque quest as an alternative to the usual crusades, missionary work and such. The point would be to maximise exploration, interaction and of course fun amongst the knights and squires. I could organise the first phase (investigation) myself alone, but would still prefer ET help for two reasons: A, I'm not that well acquainted to the major factions on LOTC (not at all, to be precise), and B, because if it's an ET member dispensing the information to be found, I can take part in the game / event myself. For the locations itself, anything would work, truly. That's up for those with more knowledge of the lore and the one building it. There's real creative freedom here, any forlorn holy location would do where a relic would have been hidden. Petra style Indiana-Jones-esque desert temple? Works. Ruined castle built more than a century ago by men of Aegis? Works, works. Tomb as final resting place for the venturing knights that brought the relic here? Works too. Whose relic the knights find, that's up to the lore team I think.

DECLARATION: This is no way an attempt to provide the Church of the Canon any kind of further legitimacy, influence or magical power. I chose the Holy Right because it's fairly confirmed that the four prophets actually lived, it's a relic type that's really, really prevalent in central Europe and because while it's a huge thing for people of Oren and canonists, it's literally a stinking, mummified part of a corpse to anybody else who doesn't see the "holy" part.

Holy Right of saint Francis Xavier

Holy Right of saint Stephen I.

What help do you require from the ET Actors or Builders?

Investigation / first part:

I thought for this one I'd ask an ET member (either actor or builder, this is purely OOC) to sprinkle information about the exact location of the relic in random places (and by random, I truly mean random, that's the fun of it.) EG, a group of High Elves discovered some metal scraps, remains of the boat that brought the relic to Axios. A pair of Dwarves dug into some tomb but swore not to tell anyone and buried it back. Stuff like that. But this is purely OOC and I'd gladly accept anyone's help who's well-acquainted to most of the larger factions.

Dungeon / Final part:

For this, whatever the event team deems worthwhile to provide. A dungeon crawl would be awesome with a few monsters, maybe an Indiana Jones style last guardian too. I have some ideas and would love to discuss them further.

Didn't receive an answer since, but I reckon it's unneeded as well. The proposal was made when the church/knights were on a rise in activity/recruitment, it's been more than a month and activity has been diminishing, myself included.

Feel free to move this to denied / archive it.

I apologize that this was not met in a more timely manner. If you have future ideas or events that you would like assistance in expressing please do not hesitate to make another proposal. As per request I shall have this moved to denied. (We seem to have lost the ability to moderate our forum)
