idiot 502 Share Posted September 4, 2016 It is an effect ETs are able to do with /effect. I'm not sure why that person is just flying around with it active.. Let alone flying around whilst not in vanish. I have used the effect before and know ways that they could be useful in events, removing the effect would take away those event opportunities. Sky 0 Share Posted September 4, 2016 It's hardly blinding, and it's not even that bad to be fair, just a mild inconvenience. Something you can get from an honest alchemy grinder worker.
Dohvi 622 Share Posted September 4, 2016 I think it's being used to mark and keep track of nation builders who are using creative.
Gone 869 Share Posted September 4, 2016 For the people saying it isn't blinding, do you not see how everything else is BLACK? That's the blinding effect. It makes it so you can only see the person glowing nothing else. That screen was taken above ground in the middle of a city but you can't tell because the glow side effect is making everything else black.
mmat 7460 Share Posted September 4, 2016 It literally makes everything black so you can't see anything, use something else to keep track of ****.

It's only because you have MC configured in a certain way (probably an optifine issue) or its something to do with your graphics card. Hence, why it probably won't be removed. I personally use glowing to keep track of people if I give them fly or LC, as well as using spectral arrows in battle to paint people out for everyone else. If glowing is an issue for you, scream it aloud for the GM to hear.
Sky 0 Share Posted September 4, 2016 I've had this effect on me multiple times, and have seen it on others multiple times, never has it caused this to me and I play purely vanilla (well that's a lie, but when I did have the effects, it was vanilla). Runabarn 1028 Author Share Posted September 4, 2016 Okay so, after a good while of tweaking optifine settings, crashes and whatnot I discovered that turning Fast Render on seemingly fixes the issue, it just makes the person an obnoxious shadeless block of whatever color their nametag is. I'd like to emphasize that this took me a while to find, and there are even reports of people without optifine having the same issue, they're pretty much doomed. The screenshot I posted was an ET, doing an event. For some illogical reason they had the glow effect on, which blinded just above half the people in the event. Even with no blindness, the ET was still a hideous single color sillouette. Seriously guys, we can't even see their skin, that's pretty damn shitty for roleplay, kills whatever scraps of immersion there may have been and seeing that thing for a long time can even be headache inducing, it's a really bright, obnoxious effect. I see no reason to keep this as a feature whatsoever. If you guys can't keep tabs on who you gave one of the most abusable tools in existence, by like simply writing their names down or something, then honestly you're garbage and shoul be ashamed of yourself. That's all I have to say.
