A Change in the Air

 

 

The capital of kal’Nikaer was a jolly place as it geared up for the coming coronation of Grand King Elect Torvin Grandaxe. The woes of past wars had long been healed, and the start of a new age had descended on the Dwarven populace. Looking closely in the city square, one would see a group of Dwarves speaking to the High Prophet. They had received tattoos from a travelling caravan, several stone weeks ago, and in the past few stone days they had been experiencing frequent stabs of pains, and the tattoo had been growing at an alarming rate. The tattoos had, at this point, covered almost the entirety of the Dwarves’ forearm. Deciding to find a solution through prayer and communication with the Gods, the High Prophet entered into the Clergy district.

 

Torrential rains began to smash into the mountains around kal’Nikaer, and dreams began to visit those who received the tattoos. All had a single similarity, the great doors that had once blocked the path into kal’Urguan. The dreams increased in frequency, leaving many to awake screaming at their own shadow. The High prophet had seen something different though, an army. An army of armored souls, creatures of either the gods or foul magic, marched upon the less traveled roads of the Deeproads. The vast army sprawled across the dark tunnels, lead by a familiar looking figure, yet none could place a name to the body.

 

 

Towards the end of the year, the winds began to change around the lands of the Dwed. Storms began to grow harsher, the seas grew more and more violent, and the wildlife began to flee. Something was on its way, and those with the tattoos grew more and more accustomed to being bed bound. None could figure out why their sickness grew, but the flesh runes pulsed and surged with energy. All things required a change, and change was on its way.
