If you want me to, I would start off with the invention of the actual powder followed by the actual musket and flintlock. So three separate lore articles with a lot of red lines.

Fair enough, but you see the problem that can come from needing high tiered mages to make these weapons? It ends up only being used by certain cliques and everyone else suffers.

Who said the black powder wouldn't have alchemical/magical properties? I said an alchemist and a tinker would be required to make the weapon, it would have magic properties.

I 100% agree, don't get me wrong. I hate circlejerk magical devices. I just think going the predictable route of manufacturing black powder weaponry is incredibly boring.

Yea, It should be the same premise as real life as gunpowder. Just make it so that the process to make it is different from mixing 3 things.
