L0rdLawyer 2272 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Alright I'm on mobile so I do apologize but I'd like to address something here. There is a growing divide among the staff and players and not much is done fix this gap. Feedback threads and delayed community meetings help, but not that well. This is where I came up with this idea. I challenge the entire LOTC staff to stop playing their main characters, nation leaders excluded, and pick a different nation or city or race by random with the rest of their team. This would divide the staff evenly amongst the playerbases of the server, allowing for new bonds to be made. So many players believe that the staff are excluding themselves from normal players and this is the time to prove them wrong. The AT would learn more from another race, causing the divide between race to race that they accept to fade. The ET would be able to get to the roots of another nation, seeing what events other players enjoy, also this would force them to do events for the nation they are with, making sure no group is excluded. The FM are often viewed as the Nazis of the server and this is a chance for them to get to know other players and allow other players a chance to view what an FM deals with each day. The LT are often stuck to one type of lore and their knowledge is often limited go that sub type. This would allow them to learn what other players and groups view for each lore and possibly this LT could help new lore develop. The GMs would no longer be allowed to be called biased GMs. They would be forced into a nation where friends may be limited and they would have to progress forward and do their job anyways. This would also allow players the chance to see what a GM deals with on a day to day base. Similar for admins. Now other then the benefits of this being done, I offer something to you only the admins could do. If 3 of staff teams: et, gms, and lt, do this and over 60% of their staff team makes it through a tough yet fair amount of weeks. I will take a perma ban for good on lotc. I know most team leads want this to occur, so here is your chance.
LordCommander 163 Share Posted April 12, 2017 I fully agree, however it should be a gradual thing, no staff member should have to shelve a character they enjoy because they are people too. However I think the Staff team should go and speak with the other communities within LoTC to get a new point of view and perhaps see things in a different light, gaining a appreciation of all the wonderful details that this server has to bring. +

NotEvilAtAll 10906 Share Posted April 12, 2017 This sounds like a pretty decent idea, although I'm pretty sure that most staff members won't want to stop playing their main characters. ((Us halflings aren't getting any events right now, so I'm kinda biased towards this idea being accepted *shrugs*))

Staff should have to be linked to three to four groups where their friends arent at.
Stag 3230 Share Posted April 12, 2017 While a neat idea I know I won't stop playing my main character. I Plan on playing side characters of other factions/races but my main charcater is five years strong. No going back now.

Is shelving your character for 2 or 3 weeks going to kill you as you go out and spend time with other races. All lives matter, not just you and your friends. DrakeHaze. 2524 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Elves are so easy to bully because their characters are from Aegis and haven't gone completely insane. L

The staff protocol is something every staff member agrees to. And the main line is it is that every staff member agrees to our whatever they have to to aid the server and the players. If this means nothing to you, why are you staff?

Not saying this to argue or because I don't care. This is just how it is. I just don't think this is a realistic expectation/goal. However like I said I will continue to play side characters in other factions.

But read this and all staff should refresh themselves. 1. To preserve and promote a friendly and cooperative environment for everyone, to ensure people feel safe and comfortable within the community. 2. To continue to encourage and endorse roleplay that is enjoyable by as many players as possible. 3. To be transparent, and forthcoming with our intentions and development, while considering the input of the community. 4. To remember we are volunteers, we made the choice to step up as leaders of the community, we’re not here for personal gain. If you don't follow these four statements, why are you staff. Not directed towards you but all staff. If you don't follow this, why are you staff. 90% don't meet 1 statement much less all four. What I propose is a way for these staff members to mend what they destroyed.

Have fun with this project and I encourage everyone to branch out if they haven't including non-staff. I will continue being a positive addition to the community in my own way. Also the statements posted don't relate to us shelving our main characters at all. I can promote all four statements while telling you that I think your idea isn't good. EDIT: I do agree that staff should meet and play with more players though. EDIT: Also it is the hope that my staff work pertains to the whole server (maybe not all at once) and thus is not influenced by the charcater I play. That being said I will also agree that i found a deeper appreciation for orcish culture after playing a goblin in Anthos. So there is merit in branching out. IT just doesn't require you to shelf your main character.
