THE JOHANNIAN BRIGADE

The Newly Formed Conciliary Army of Oren’s Crownlands

I. THE BRIGADE

 

Established in 1620 as the direct arm of the Constabulary and the Empire, The Brigade functions as a central force with the dissolution of the Legion system. Additionally, it functions as the father-force to all newly-founded members of the Imperial Brigade system. Brigadiers are expected to be high quality soldiers with excellent fitness and discipline. All initiated soldiers will be paid 200 mina per elven week before commissions.

III. TRIBUTARY FORCES

The Imperial Artillery Corps

Soldiers and engineers with the utmost regard for, understanding of, and ability to use artillery, siege equipment, and defenses. Joining the Artillery Corps is difficult as it requires special education.

The Imperial Surgeon Corps

Men and women of the Empire with special experience and education in handling wounded or dying men, as well as being tasked with ensuring the general health of the Soldiery. Fit, younger men of the Surgeon Corps will often be expected to march with the Brigade as Field Surgeons.

The Field Marshal’s Company

A small grouping of men simply designated to be disciplinarians of the field; These men are known for their booming commands and understanding of tactics. They carry very little day to day command but prove to be of the utmost importance on the battlefield.

 

IV. LAWS AND REGULATIONS OF THE BRIGADE

 

The property of the Brigade is to be handled with extreme caution and kept in constant working condition.

Upon the completion of your service, to secret away property of the Brigade is theft.

Theft shall be punishable by death.  

Thieves will be strangled.

 

Alcohol or ale made available to you in camp is property of the Brigade..

Property of the Brigade is not to be abused by those granted the privilege of making use of it.

Unruly or inappropriate activity within the encampment or on the battlefield is considered abuse of property and

abuse of person.

Abuse of alcohol to the point of intoxication will result in flogging.

Brawlers and drunkards will be flogged.

 

Attempts to flee the battlefield and desert the army is in violation of the Oath of the Brigade.

Informing the enemy of Imperial plans under the yoke of incentive or intimidation is also in violation

of the Oath of the Brigade.

To violate the Oath of the Brigade is to accept your own execution.

Traitors and deserters will be crucified.

V. STANDARDS OF TRAINING AND DISCIPLINE

In order to keep the military constantly prepared for combat, wargames will be arranged frequently.  Wargames are training sessions lasting several hours in which thousands of men practice real military exercises and manoeuvres and hone their skills with sparring weapons.  The Constable and his Deputies will commonly oversee these.

 

Additionally, Brigadiers will consistently engage in mock scenarios created by the Lord Constable to generate an understanding of tactics as well as how to apply them. Scenarios may involve quelling uprisings, insurgencies, clearing a house of enemies, and situations of such natures.

 

The days of scattered nobility, of bickering leaguesmen are over.  The time of the Empire is now, and with the skills, discipline and valor that the Disciplinarians will teach, the Orenian sons can once again march to destiny.
