What is Roleplaying?: Creating a character in any setting  (In this case the lotc server) and interacting with others and a world through that character as if that character is yourself. Ones character knows and does what that character knows and would do, not what one knows and would do. During RP, one is ones character.

What is Metagaming?: Metagaming is the use of information that is being supplied by other individuals outside of RP that ones character would not know without the use of metagaming. 

What is Power-emoting (Powergaming)?: Powergaming is forcing the effects of an action onto another.

 

In-Character Information
Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

Biography  (This is one of the most important sections of the application. Please take your time and make it a decent paragraph long. I do not exactly know how old I am, all I know is that I seem to have reached my peak maturity a few years ago. The parents that raised me are not my true parents, I have never known them.  I was taken in by Renult and Sara Skelt as a young babe, and they raised me as their own, for Sara is barren and when they came upon me in their travels I was considered a blessing. My father is a merchant in the city of Aleksandria,and I accompanied him quite often on trips to the Holy Orenian Empire, where I learned the skills associated with commerce. If it was entirely his choice, I would work under him and eventually take the business when he is no longer able to run it. However, I have been fascinated by the knights of the city watch for as long as I can remember, so I spent all the time I could as a child training to become one, and attained that goal not too long ago. While it pains me to say this, I secretly do not wish to remain a knight of Aleksandria forever. I love this city and its people, but looking out at the beautiful sky over Asul's plains, I can't help but know. I know my true parents are out there, somewhere. I want to find them. I want to ask why they saw fit to leave me on a foreign street. I do feel badly for Renult and Sara, and I do not plan to up and abandon them, however my mental fortitude can not hold against this urge of needing to know for much longer. I have started saving my pay for two reasons. One for myself, that I will take with me on this first journey, and two as a gift to my adopted parents, to repay them for all the years of love and care I received. As I get nearer and nearer to my departure from Aleksandria, I honestly do worry a bit. This will be the first time I am truly alone, out on the world. That said, I feel it deep within me that this is what I must do. I leave tomorrow.

And to answer your question, LOTC has a unique plugin that's called Nexus, which basically implements a new way of crafting items. With this, we also have professions on the server, and with each profession, there are different levels, much likes tiers. In this case, you don't obtain enchantment books through putting a book in an enchantment table along with lapis, but rather you obtain enchantment books from elsewhere, and use the table to apply the enchant to the item you wish to imbue. It may be a bit confusing at first, but once you're on the server, input the command /help, and that should be able to clear it up. If not, you can always message me!
