The Kingdom of Norland Vassalizes to Renatus

Issued on behalf of the Ashen Council and the Thorned Crown

Following the sack of Vjorhelm and the fall of the unbreakable Krag Fortress the people of Norland were left with an ultimatum. Bend the knee, or see your fields salted, your cities burnt and your families rendered unto corpses. Thus, as of the the 14th of the Sun's Smile 1641, I Jory Eiriksson Rurik do declare fealty to Aurelius Canonius Horen. As such the Kingdom of Norland does render itself a vassal of Renatus. The vassalage of the Kingdom of Norland is established upon the following terms with the Renatian Throne.

 

The Kingdom of Norland shall

• Render fealty unto the rightful monarch of Renatus

• Practice its own faith free from prosecution by the Renatian Throne

• Retain its authority to legislate and pass judgement within the confines of its own borders

• Retain the right to raise vassals and call its banners

"Arthas pulls the strings yet again. He claims to protect the faith, and yet he fights to kill Norlanders alongside cannonists who burned our home. Jory takes the crown from behind the back of the heir, and few respect his rule. What has come of Norland? We are now just another nation that bent the knee. Decades of work, struggle, and blood, and for what?" Avalon looks to the many Norlanders around him.

Avalon would think of what Arthas would say if he were allowed to meet with him and his men. He then thinks about what he would say in response.

"You call me a traitor to the faith, yet, when did I say I reject the All Father? I serve him like my kin beside me. All I supported was the change in policy at the international political level, in order to spare our citizens the assaults of cannonists. This hatred from the cannonists came from you, Arthas, who ordered the attacks against innocent people who did not follow the Red Faith. We fundamentally disagree on how to best serve the All Father. This disagreement is fine, until however, you betray Norland and start killing your own. Can you deny the presence of your followers alongside cannonist Renatians the day of the Siege? You commanded your people, to kill, other Norlanders. You supported the burning of our city, our home, which you care little for. How many children died for you to play hypocrite? How dare you accuse me of abandoning the All Father, when you yourself kill His people. You remind me of a mosquito Arthas. A creature so obnoxious that few can find kind words about it. When the angry glares begin to turn towards you, you buzz away. You leave, and then during a time of transition for Norland, you come right back, with five or six new mosquitoes behind you. You return and attempt to suck Norland dry of it's lifeblood, only to be smacked by the annoyed populous, who forget about you the next day. And with a broken wing, you and your filthy mosquito friends fly away yelling curses that none can hear. I only have one thing to say to filth like you, buzz off."

Elle Noctuid takes Arthas' cane and whacks Avalon over the head with it in a similar fashion to the attached gif, however it should be made clear that Avalon is more like Ed the hyena, and will never be like Simba aside from being a coward.

"Oh, and it's pronounced canonist, not cannonist, moron. You renounced the faith and did not defend it when Jevan decided it would no longer be the main religion of Norland. You are a contemptible pissant and a failure of a leader. Go hide in your small keep and cry alone."

Literally delusional. You ejected your faith like the spineless coward you are. Attempting to blame the humble piety of an old man for the warmongering of an administration you participated in. Your prince openly stated multiple times, that he did not wish for Norland to be 'oppressed' by any singular faith. And furthermore that he did not believe in the 'All Father'. Any claim you make concerning your own piety falls on deaf ears when you serve a man such as that. Beyond this, attempting to brandish your sacred beliefs as a tool of politics just further highlights your own secular ambitions. Refrain from politics you have already displayed your complete incompetence in that realm. You may remain mired in your stupidity and ignorance, having ignored my warnings years ago that this storm would come. Yet when it came you remained dedicated to your maddened delusion, claiming that I was the conceiver of this blight that your own actions, and the actions of your fellows cast upon the Kingdom.

 

As for my participation in the sacking. I and my folk were forced to cut the cancer from the sickened carcass of a nation we had once called home. A heretical King that denied everything we held dear, everything our ancestors had held dear. It is only now after the All Father's righteous fury has been made blatantly clear that Norland awakes and once again sees the light of reason. Our current path is one that will let our people have peace, respite from some three centuries of almost ceaseless warfare. But if you are so eager to spend more innocent lives at the pursuit of your mad prince's ambitions then feel free to try. The people of Norland have made their will clear.
