LithiumSedai 5750 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Our Cause A formal election statement of an Administrator Citizens of Senntisten and the Apostolic Kingdom of Marna, Per my duties as a mayoral candidate, a Royal Administrator of Marna and the former High Seneschal of the Imperial Crown, and in spite of my recent illness confining me to my quarters in the family home of Talraen, I deliver to you my statement regarding the election process and the current political climate in our dear Apostolic Kingdom. No speeches were delivered, no campaigning for our cause had been done on the streets of Senntisten, for which I dearly apologize to any and all followers of our cause who had been assured of our imminent victory in this process; truly, the ideals of the esteemed Imperial Administration aided and led by those of Talraen blood had, by example, always favored stability and prosperity and secured us overwhelming popular support. In return, our citizens could expect us to regularly aid their interests, make sacrifices for the betterment and safety of the capital; it was my Administration that stood in defense of Adelburg and open defiance to usurpers of power, risking our very lives for our loyalties, our ideals, and the safety of all our citizens. In our opposition stand two candidates, young and old, a man of the people and a man of business ventures - I've no doubt that they are fine, patriotic men, who had secured popular support through the guidance of their respective companies and supposedly inspiring speeches on the streets. I ask of them and their parties, their campaigns - what do you offer to our city that has not been seen and done before, and tried by an experienced, responsible Administration under my leadership? What can you offer to the political struggle of Marna, of our proud race of Man in this time of uncertainty and tensions, but calls for the enabling of slavery? Indeed, these candidates lend their support to a barbaric institution, practiced by savage orcs and dark elves and dwarven outcasts, one condemned by the spirit of our Faith and the current policies of our Apostolic Kingdom, a bastion of freedom for the civilized peoples of Atlas. Everything that slavery offers negates our greatness as Man, our ability to dedicate our lives to work and prosperity in spite of the Ibleesian curse, without falling complacent and relying on the manpower of subjugated non-humans. There is no doubt that this act is directed towards the elven provocation, and that it is one that will send our proud, holy kingdom towards a path of darkness and barbarism. What do I stand for, then? I stand for rejection of slavery. I stand for the superiority of Man proven by our diligence, innovation and hard work, a legacy built on our backs rather than the blood and toil of non-humans. I stand for the formation of the Commonwealth of Man, as declared in His Majesty's proclamation, our act of unity as Man and the shield of our Faith and lands should the elf prove treacherous. I stand for a reformed military, utilizing the finest equipment and tactics Man can spare and devise. I stand for political representation in the Apostolic Kingdom and the Commonwealth, by parties with a clear vision and a defined course. I stand for our legacy, the continuation of our work in Adelburg manifesting in Senntisten, efforts joined with those who truly wish to bring economic prosperity and activity to our capital, those who would utilize our experience in leadership and guidance. I will gladly cooperate with those who share these ideals and views, any of the candidates that reject their support of slavery and have the drive to proceed with our reforms; otherwise, I shall continue our struggle, and I demand of them to present their views and challenge mine, fairly and publicly. Indeed, it is concession is almost synonymous with nobility and integrity. So I publically say unto all concerned today that I now retract my support of the legalisation of slavery. I admonish slavery, denounce it, and I do state here that it was misguided of me to support it in the first place. We should have a society of kindness, of compassion and of empathy to our fellow man. We should not look down upon people simply because they are different to us, because they talk, act, or are shaped in a contrary manner. Our current success is the product of values painstakingly acquired and cultivated over hundreds of years. The imperative to love those who are your neighbour has shaped our politics - and we cannot let barbaric notions of slavery and disenfranchisement seep into the very fabric of our society, a society we are proud to call free, a society wherein a man can go about his usual, daily business without the threat of persecution and indifference. A society where all men are judged as equals under the eyes of GOD when we part these mortal realms. For all men die, all women die, all children will one day become old and grey - and then they will die. And I have seen from my life, one well lived, that empathy to our fellow man is a notion that is intrinsically good. The care and compassion that we show today shall determine the world that our sons and daughter, our grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will inherit tomorrow. I, before responding to the question posed by Aran, must say to him how appreciative the Empire was, how appreciative Marna is to his services to the Realm. His dignity and diligence in the face of adversity have shown us what it is truly meant to be a patriot. From all at the Unionist Party, I say thank you. We in this nation are strong, we're self-reliant and dependant upon ourselves. We are a nation of small business owners, a nation of shopkeepers. Many would use this as an insult, but I see it as a compliment. That is why we continually beat our enemies, even in the face of defeat, we wrest victory from its cool digits. The Unionist Party believes in giving people the freedom and opportunity to fulfil their own potential. The Unionist Party stands for encouraging our children to aspire to achieve more than we have - for our children today WILL be the leaders of tomorrow."
