To our most leal and beloved subjects and any of whom it may concern,

 

Humanity lies at the bottom of an abyss of a period of recession. Since the fall of Johannesburg, humanity has been rife with petty feuds and interwarring. Man against fellow man. And amidst this chaos - these dark ages - we have lost much of our knowledge - records of our past. All of our history - scattered to the winds. In regards to innovation and technological advancement, we have reached a period of stagnation. Humanity had once bred the finest minds the realm has ever seen. Each man driven by his short term life on the realm - compared to the other Descendants. Each man determined to leave his mark. They were driven to fulfill extraordinary feats, conquer insurmountable heights, and most importantly improve. As sons of Horen, we possess no time to pursue fruitless endeavors. Such is the nature of our curse. Though let it be known, that we will not let it be our weakness.

As a people, we shall advance. As both a nation and in the state of mind. We will endure and we will progress. In light of this, the Crown of Renatus-Marna deems it long overdue to establish to Office of the Castellan Engineer. Let the position serve as chief and foremost expert on technological advance. Let him collaborate closely with our greatest minds to ensure that we are amply prepared should a threat arise. Let him allow our vast legions to operate with added efficiency and with siege engines to topple down the mightiest of walls. Foremost, they will possess paramount knowledge in construction, discovery, and siegecraft. Let this document stand as the origins of the esteemed post of Castellan Engineer, and the declaration of a new age; one in which we reclaim humanity and free our conscience. Let this stand as our beginning of our enlightenment. Henceforth, the Castellan Engineer, on behalf of the Crown, shall subsidize and collaborate with the other great minds to ensure that we are not overtaken by our foes. But rather, ten steps ahead.
