Travel Distance Feedback

Recommended Posts

For all the people saying "soulstones" yeah that works great until you have to escort another character somewhere that they don't have one bound to. Heaven forbid you be in an actual group cause now you gotta figure out who has what and is going/meeting where. With only 3 slots roughly (less if the character is newer/inactive) they have rather limited use really except to move yourself about to wherever you most frequently go.

I had that happen to me yesterday. Needed to bring a friend to Sutica to show them a project there. I had a SS, he didn't. Cue 20 minutes of running along the roads.

Yes, I timed it. Running from Dominion to Sutica takes 20 minutes. 20 minutes of holding a button down and staring at the screen in boredom. At least the RP once we were there was enjoyable.

Honestly we either need horses back to the way they were or we need fast travels of some sort.

I'd even settle for some sort of toggled run, to be honest. At least then you could type and hold a conversation while running about.

With horses they have many issues currently, slow of course being the number 1 issue.

They also can't be protected or called anymore.

These things combined have resulted in people simply not using them. I think I've seen a whole 1 horse actually ridden within the last few months.

Personally I'd prefer fast travels restored to the way we've often had them. It's a simple system that works. Players don't waste time silently running around (unless they're going to some random place in freebuild or just wanted to explore) and instead get where they're going quickly to engage in RP there. I know people are gonna say "but what about the roadside RP!"

I've yet to see any on this map.

The one time someone stopped me on the road it was to OOCly say they liked my skin and then ran off again.

But hey, perhaps a compromise: have fast travels but they only go so far. Cut down on travel distance and time but don't go the full length of the journey to save some "roadside" opportunities. Maybe from CT there could be carts that go half the distance to various locations. RP excuse could be that the CT monks are running this system and that's as far as they wanna go.

Should've regioned central tiles of the map, have nations at more relative and equal distances when possible (CT -> Marna and CT -> Orcs are ideal distances for nations) And only allowed freebuild on outer tiles of the map. Limited plots for purchase on the central tiles with activity checks if there were regioned tiles.

Activity checks on nations and nuke the 1 man nations.

It was kingston 2.0 tier map placement, shame it was never utilized to its full potential

That crossroads have too small of road regions that dont work. We have disscussed remaking them but we dont want to screw over the settlement there.... might be a good idea now that no ones there.

Also nations picked their settlement locations. There really isnt a better way unless we assign it to them.

you literally have to farm to get enough bread to run to fenn even with monkbread, i checked, at least give us more if you're only gonna give it to us on one character per day because of this terrible vote for bread system

also when i joined this map i literally couldn't find my way out of the dumpster fire that is ct, i cant imagine the suffering new players go through, please fix (not a meme)

Hardly. The original human reservation was set near the crossroad Belvitz occupies, only for it to be revoked and leaving two other options, those being Renatus and Marna's initial locations. There were infinitely more locations available that would have allowed any nation to create a viable, well-traveled, and easy to access rp hub, however those sites were forbidden because a road ran through them or someone else was further along the highway.

Better placement is as easy as letting nations back on the road instead of just being cul-de-sacs that travelers have no reason to enter. If someone sets up a toll booth, tavern, hamlet, or even a city, let them. Either way this would generate the fabled "roadside rp" or otherwise travelers could just go around.

Nations should define the roads, not the other way around.

As a side note, freebuild ought to be kicked back out into the wild outlands rather than being the very first thing players come into contact with.

No, they weren't. They were given a select number of slots to choose from. This is said from Ex-NL of the druid tile.

You were given suggestions for spots. If you didn't like them you could have asked for others. Are you unhappy with your nation location ? Seeing how it's the closest to spawn

You're acting like you were the admin that we were in contact with- We weren't given suggestions where we could say 'No we want, here.' they were 'Please pick; A, B, or C.'. You're also derailing my point, I am not saying that the druids were screwed over. Being given a handful of options is just the illusion of choice.

You're right I wasn't there. Just helped build them map and offered suggestions to where place can go and so forth.

Guess we will see how everything turns out. Travel distance so far this map has shown nothing to improve activity. Falls down to the leaders of various groups and how they manage their cities or areas. Look at belfitz closest to spawn was activity and the place to go before their leaders got banned. Then it fell to inactivity. Make your city a place to go and people will come.

Moved to The Great Library. It shall be sorted into the appropriate category shortly.

If you feel this is a mistake, please contact myself or any FM and we'll restore it.
